(D4 Event) Tread Carefully
Posted: Sun Jun 18, 2017 10:24 pm
Event Type: Bonus
Participants: All Unaffiliated Characters (Optional)
Timeslots: Any before LE (Note at the top of your post)
Scrutiny: N/A
Description: Malto Brin has requested help in surveying some key targets. Because he does not trust the Republic nor the Empire, he has left it closed to any with those affiliations. That and because the targets ARE Republic and Empire personnel. After a huge propaganda event and a Kaggath taking place underneath his nose, why wouldn't he be cracking down? Have fun with deciding whom is the target.
Rules: This event takes place in three stages. They must be done in order but you may stop at any time. Note that failing a roll means that ALL of your own progress is erased! The reason for this is that you must choose if going to the next stage is worth it or not.
You can work in groups of unlimited size and trade off. Assisted Checks are also a thing and have no cap, though you will want to spread out a bit to earn more points. For example, Person A can assist Person B in the first stage, then Person B can assist Person A on the second stage, and then switch once more. Note that you must declare at the beginning that you are working together and your entire group can only go through the three stages once each.
Each success tally ups points. However, in this case, failure does not set back the rest of the team; it simply erases progress as stated above. The first 2 Advantage/Threat you roll are converted to a Bonus/Setback die. You may continue to do so or you may have them affect strain. Any Triumph allows for a failed check to succeed OR for an ally to reroll ANY failed check.
Looking for Threads: Make a Underworld (Intellect) or Streetwise (Cunning) Check at Average Difficulty. This represents finding people to talk to.
Getting the Info: Make a Charm (Presence), Deception (Cunning), Negotiation (Presence), or Coercion (Willpower) Check at Average Difficulty. This represents convincing them to give you the information you're looking for.
Stalking the Target: Make a Stealth (Agility) or Skulduggery (Cunning) Check at Average Difficulty. This represents following the target yourself and finding out more information.
