Nar Shaddaa

Yslane was here early this morning, her meeting yesterday had brought to light some information that the young Jedi needed to pass on and receive some guidance. She walked the lengths of the garden, looking for one Jedi Knight Thy Yulani.

The 'bureaucrat' had taken the precaution of throwing on a cowled robe sometime after leaving her room to conceal her features, and let her blend in better in the Enclave. Her height was always a problem...but such was life.

Thy is not hard to find she is practicing with a training droid with he new lightsaber as it sends stun blasts at her and she reflects them. She says as Yslane approaches, “Hey Yslie, settling in just fine?”

"Master Yulani," She steps back from line of sight, staying visible to Thy, "Well I do have a rather nice apartment at the moment, more then most padawans. I haven't been doing much besides reading protocol books forwarded by the Foreign Office. I'm fairly sure that if I hadn't been born able to feel the Force...my life would still be a cloistered and studious one. The Foreign Office's staff must do nothing but read or write these things, their...dedication to minute detail is terrifying." Yslane bows, "And you Master? I had heard that there was an incident with your lightsaber...." A sly smile plays across her face. "Seems your time was for more interesting then mine."

“It was an unfortunate encounter with some slavers, things got complicated… real fast. Thankfully Old Lady Resmi didn’t read me the riot act… it was more of a slow burn passive aggressive old lady thing. You can just call me Thy, Master Yulani makes me feel like I am fifty,” Thy replies honestly.

“I mean I guess I might be fifty… but I am not Fifty.”

"Well I mean you are my Teacher," Yslane sighs, "But Thy is fine if you prefer it. Doesn't this make the second such group the Order has cleared up out here? I heard rumor that Master Shan's new padawan had a tangle with slavers as well?"

"...anyway, for now things seem okay...the Sith I think realize I have some connection to the Force, but none have asked about it." She crosses her arms and looks away, "Not sure if that means they don't care enough to probe deeper....yet....or have some other scheme brewing. Or given the only one I have spoke to at length was an Apprentice, maybe he didn't notice?"

“Who did you talk to?” Thy asks as she reflects the bolts.

“Slavers will never stop out here, but if we can let them know we are watching we can impede their efforts.”

"Sylvain Torsin, an Apprentice of Darth Baras, who was surprisingly pleasant. I am not sure if it was a ruse to lure in a naive diplomat. I'd like to think he is, in fact a rather pleasant individual. Call me an optimist." Yslane frowns, "Actually....I would speak of some...disquieting information I received relating to his Master."

"He is... something."

"You don't have to be so formal, just hit me with what you got," Thy replies.

"I met with Magpie...I assume you know about them?" Yslane nods, "Regardless I was informed that Baras may be planning on killing Senator Seir'oto." Her frown deepens, "Of course no evidence was provided to me...but there was a suggestion to watch one Layne Hoshin, another of Bara's cadre. Magpie also offered a plan, or offered us a chance to join some scheme of her's to deal with Baras. And, unsurprisingly, was unwilling to give me any details unless we commit."

"I wished to seek your counsel before proceeding."

“Well one we need to alert the senator and increase his security detail. Two what does your instincts tell you about this Magpie? All I get is someone that we have no idea we can even trust, really,” Thy replies honestly.

"...I'm not sure, part of me wants to just accept and rush into this." Yslane blanches at that, "...I suppose I really am your people." She teases, "But, I can't help but wonder if this isn't some Sith power game. Using us to hurt a rival."

“The Sith are crazy, everything is about one upping the other person. This guy is angry at that guy and wants to kill this guy. If they were not attacking us I say let them eat each other… well most of them. Some are… okay, for being evil dark side jerks,” she counters.

“I like rushing in, but we should probably do our homework first. Learn more of the players at work here, you mentioned Baras I think and this Layne? What do we know about them?”

"As always Mast....Thy, you are adept at distilling things down to their most direct." Another sigh, "I would agree that the Sith, as a society, have a disconcerting tendency toward self-immolation and ultimately collapse." Yslane grins, "Sorry, I have been practicing bureaucratic non-speech to cover for my lack of knowledge on protocol. It's amazing how you can turn a simple sentence into a pile of words...."

"I'd like to keep from judging every Sith for the moment." Her grin fades, "Baras is a mover and shaker in the Empire, equal to the Sith leading these talks....probably a rival as well. As for Layne....well I am not sure, apart from her connection to Baras."

"Let's learn more about Layne, maybe we can bug SIS and see if they have anything on Baras and I can ask the Council if the Shadows have anything on him as well, chances are they will say, no comment. No one likes to talk about the Shadows," she says with a huff.

"The last thing we need is a Senator dying on our watch."

"Should I approach him directly or do we need to let Master Shan handle this?" Yslane's tone grew more serious, "I have been near the Senator thus far, but I am unsure if that will be enough."

She grimaces at the comment on the Council, "I'm sure they have their reasons. Regardless, I can speak with SIS and see if they can't get someone to help watch the Senator as well....and peruse the files on Layne and Baras."

"If this Layne turns out to be a threat, do we preempt this or....."

"We let Master Shan make that call, speak with Agent Wren, she should have a handle on what the SIS is doing," Thy responds.

"I'll go after our meeting to meet SIS, will you be handling Master Shan?" Yslane responds.

"...I suppose I should also ask...." Yslane straightened her robes, some real nervousness entering her voice, "After these talks....do you think I will be ready to take the final trials and become a full Knight?"

“Yes… no… maybe? I am going to be honest I hadn’t actually looked at the file in full I got a message I had a student… and now I figure out you’re a padawan. I mean maybe? I don’t want you to fail though so maybe we should do more training together, get to know each other,” she says finally settling on a course of action.

“The trials are difficult, but passing them is more about discipline and dedication than just be the best at lightsabers or something. Got to be mentally ready!”

“I believe in you, and you will do fine. Let’s not worry about it.”

Yslane looks at Thy for a moment, disappointment visible for only a second before she returns to a smile, "Alright, I'll continue to try my best."

"...I take it you haven't had a padawan before?"

“Nope…” she says powering down the trainer.

“But this will be an adventure! I have no idea what I am supposed to be doing. In fact this may be the worst idea in the history of worst ideas. I am the queen of bad ideas. You’ll have to remind me later about this one time Satele and I tried to bust a smuggling ring on Coruscant and I convinced her to sneak in as a dancing girl.”

“She can do many things but dancing is not one of them.”

Yslane raised her eyebrows and looked down, "I would prefer if you would refrain from such plans if they involve me disguising myself as a dancer." She shakes her head, "I think the Council would say something about 'Nurture the mind of the young aspirant, so that she may blossom into her full potential', so...I suppose just teach me how to be a Jedi in your own way and maybe it will guide me to my own path?"

"I have mostly stayed at the Temple on Courscant....so...." She shrugs.

"Me too... until I went to Korriban... then there was a war and I froze myself in carbonite after fighting the Sith, slept for like 25 years... I think then a Sith rescued me and then yadda yadda yadda, here I am. Psst, don't tell anyone but my friend is a Sith, but he is like not terrible. I told Satele and she gave me her patented look," Thy replies.

"So yeah find your path padawan, you can do it."

"I try to take the Sith as individuals Mas...Thy." Yslane smiled, "I think their society is pretty much doomed to self-destruction, but not all of them are the monsters the stories say." She pauses to consider something, "Though I am sure some are soul sucking demons. Stories have to start somewhere."

"Anyway...umm are there any questions you have for me? Since you are stuck with me for now? What style I use? Favorite color?"

"Huh oh yeah, yeah sure tell me about yourself," Thy asks feeling foolish she had not asked sooner.

"Well I was discovered by the order when I was five. Plucked from a banquet screaming as the Force overloaded my senses with everyone in the room's emotional state." Yslane begins, "I stayed on Coruscant for most of my training...I had expected my original Master would have allowed me to take the trials, but with your return it was decided I needed more experience beyond the halls of the Temple. So....here I am."

"Oh and I am trained primarily in Form V...Shien. Also my favorite color is blue violet....which is a bit too flashy for most Jedi, so I rarely get to wear it." She sighs, "And my lightsaber is green. Because blue is so very much overused and yellow gives me a headache."
