The Holonet is an important galactic resource and is maintained by central hubs in Imperial and Republic space, one of the most important hubs is the one here on Nar Shaddaa. Apparently someone somewhere thought it was a good idea to entrust such a hub to the Hutts and it is one of the most important in the galaxy. This are generates a great deal of revenue for the Hutts and is always secured by Hutt security personnel and private security forces. This area houses many technology firms and several power grid systems, many of them redundant systems for the Holonet hub.
