Shilling at the Vendor Hall (D5 EE)

Arali's been preparing for HuttCon for a while, and with the day finally here? She's ready. She has her own booth again this year, and inventory is stocked.

For the last four HuttCons, she's worked the vendor hall, selling her paintings. Landscapes, per her usual, as they're her best, but this time, taken from the settings of various holovids. At least, if you know what you're looking at; otherwise, they're just cool painting, and legally, there's nothing that positively identifies a painting as the Doom Spire from season 3 of Vera Hawke: Jedi Knight. It's just a cool cave painting!

"So what is this?" a large dark lord says looking at her booth.

Meep!

A dark lord of the Sith is looking at my paintings... Okay, Arali. Calm down. Just treat him like a person, and like a customer.

"Good evening, sir, and welcome to Arali's Imaginings; hand-painted landscapes inspired by the formative pulp adventure classics, and their modern derivatives."

The fact that she's still in her Space Accountant Corrinne costume should give a pretty clear idea of her idea on what's 'classic.'

Darth Xevious looks at the painting critically and says, "You made these yourself?"

"Yes, sir," Arali says politely, bracing herself, fully expecting something utterly scathing, though she's not entirely sure why, "And if you don't see something quite to your liking, I do take commissions."

Zane was wandering the Vendor hall, more people watching then anything. He was mostly people watching, this was something of a new experience for him. Occasionally he was stopped, as people requested to take his picture, he wasn't entirely certain why, but obliged, especially when asked by an attractive young lady. Maybe it had something to do with being on t.v. this morning.

"Yes, sir," Arali says politely, bracing herself, fully expecting something utterly scathing, though she's not entirely sure why, "And if you don't see something quite to your liking, I do take commissions."

Darth Xevious smiles and says, “What are your commission rates? I find your work passable.”

He gestures and lifts a painting with the Force to better look at it before setting it down gently. “Do you do portraits?”

"Yes, sir, I do." Not her specialty, but entirely within her ability.

She goes into rates, based on established standards in the Nar Shaddaa artistic scene, for an artist of her skill, and for scale of the portrait, whether it be a head shot, bust, or full-body portrait, and the intricacy of the background.

((Quite frankly, whatever the price, I'm taking the deal, even if it's pro bono. I'm just throwing dice to throw out some arbitrarily appropriate credit amount based on standard rates, rather than listing, "X credits." I don't know what the difficulty would be, so here's my side, and the difficulty dice can go up after.

On the one hand? Arali considers her accounts, wiped out by a combination of the con and her recent tinkering, even after the boom in sales.

On the other? This is an opportunity to get closer to a dark lord of the Sith than she ever had before. Her curiosity alone is intense.

And it seems the dark lord sensed that during her pitiful attempts at haggling. "It shall be done, sir," she agrees. Though going from this man to 'exquisite beauty' might be... trying. Hopefully, his daughter takes more after her mother, for her sake.
