The Jedi Order

The Jedi are an ancient order that is well known through the galaxy and hated by the Sith Empire especially. Servants of the Republic, they have defended peace throughout the galaxy for several thousand years in one form or another and are respected throughout Republic space and to a lesser extent the Outer Rim.

The Jedi in recent memory have suffered several setbacks and defeats one of the most notable was the rise of Darth Revan and the loss of so many Jedi to his banner. This war nearly destroyed the Jedi but they recovered and even earned the trust of the Republic once more. The specter of war in the galaxy and the loss of the Grand Master of the Jedi has left the Jedi somewhat rudderless and very much a reactive organization instead.

The Order is reeling with war and there are divisions within the order of what should be done with the Sith Empire. Most Jedi feel that peace can be found, but until then resistance must be met with force but no more than is needed to end the conflict. While another faction feels that the Sith Empire must be destroyed and that all actions should be put to that goal to end the threat once and for all. It is a vocal minority but one that is growing and shares a mutual agreement with the Republic armed forces.

The Jedi are at a crossroads and the order struggle for relevance even as many on the council push to elect a new Grand Master, the fact one has not been found has started to cause some Jedi to speculate just what the council is doing. In the meanwhile leadership has fragmented and the order is pulled in many directions, humanitarian aid, peace keeping, and in some cases leading military forces in the conflict. There is a fear that this war could have the same effect that leads to the rise of another Revan-like figure.
