A Most Dangerous Game (D8, LM)

"The rumors are there's one outside Jiguuna." Galen explained as he brought up a map. "This area here is ideal for an acklay. I've asked for the Starcross to set down here, and we'll move closer on foot. Once we find its trail, we set the snares, activate the lure and wait."

OOC: Galen has a perfect idea and will gain a boost die to the initiative roll as he has a perfect ambush point.

Zeno nods, checking the genade on his hip, and his rifle. "Sounds good. We're taking it alive right? I can't stun with my sabers."

"Alive" Aphr confirmed with a nod "unless something goes wrong. Can't leave something like this roaming free, injured and angry" she gave Galen a look "right?"

"Correct." he nodded. "The goal is to capture it alive. But, acklay are very dangerous. The snares should at least soften it up. It's likely that we'll need to fight it directly, though. Then, we need to do whatever we can to bring it down."

Aphr nodded. "How much further?"

He glanced out the viewport. "We appear to be landing now. It shouldn't take too long to set things up."

"Sounds good. What needs done," he asks, offering to help set up.

"We need to find signs of the acklay, tracks or recent kills." he explained. "We hide the snares and set them. One will have the lure. The other one will be isolated somewhere between us and the first. That way, we may be able to draw it into it with blaster fire."

"If I haven't made it clear, I am grateful for your help." he added "This will either be boring, or quite the adventure."

"Of course. I'm not a tracker, but I can be maneuverable and stealthy. I'm a good shot and even better with my sabers."

"I can move quiet and shoot. Never tracked before though, and unlike you two I have no big creature knowledge" she gave a half-smile.

I won't mention the lightsaber...

"The sabers may be what keeps us alive, if things go bad." he nodded. "I can handle getting the traps in place, while you find a good vantage point. This is the boring part, I'm afraid."

Galen lowered the cargo ramp.

"Alright then, let's make our way towards the swamp and see what we can find." He slid his goggles into place and adjusted his cloak. "The rain should be relatively harmless, as long as we don't drink it."

He nods, putting his tuk'ata helm on and heading down the ramp. He moves to a location that has visibility and cover, taking a position to be able to snipe from without being noticed initially.

Aphr, taking inspiration from Zeno, moved into a better location to have visibility and cover without being seen. She picks a different side to Zeno...and apparently may be good at this.

As the others found their places, Galen moved forward to place the snares.

Unfortunately, doing so stealthily proved more difficult than expected.

The creature was cunning and burst from the brush with a clicking sound and screech as it turns and looks at Galen; spine rise and it clicks and screeches as it moves forward towards the hunter at greater speed.

OOC: Acklay is at Medium range to the group, Zeno is hidden and gets a free Upgrade to his first action. The Acklay has Melee Defense 2 and Adversary 1. Galen was able to set a trap before the creature appeared.

Galen tried to quickly finish setting the lure, hoping it would at least distract the creature. Leaving it with the snare, he ran, trying to draw the acklay towards the snare as he fled. He was bait again.

The acklay is drawn to the lure and sets off the trap but still has much left in it as electricity momentarily arcs all over it.

OOC: The creature suffers 10 strain total after soak. It gives the next ally a Boost die with the on advantage, itself.
