Revan's secret (D10, EA)

The last few days had been hectic and he was still pondering their consequences. Makeb. Thy. Azanak. Jug'tih. Darth Baras and the plot to derail the peace talks. Much had happened.

He placed the Holocron in the centre of the table and activated out as he removed the fragment of the Star forge, or whatever it was. Perhaps Darth Malak could tell him more?

Darth Malak appears and says, "It has been some time, has progress been made?"

"Yes my Lord. I have recovered a piece of the Star Forge, at least I believe that is what it is.". He held it up to show to Malak.

"I can feel the force energy flowing through it."

"Rather small, was this what Revan left behind?" Malak asks.

"This is a self-contained piece of a larger device. It can be made to grow into something greater. Did Revan ever speak to you of a thing he called the 'Seed of Life'? There is a group of around 50 aliens that claim Revan left one of these," he gestured to the device, "for them. They do not appear to have ever left the compound I found them in, which suggests the device has provided them with everything they needed to survive across the generations. Clearly it contains great power."

"Interesting, why only a piece, why not just take the whole thing. These aliens were certainly no match for a warrior of the Sith," he replies with menace.

"Two reasons my Lord. The first is that a Jedi I wish to turn became involved in my business once again, and she now feels pulled to me by her passions. The second is that I can easily return with a force of my own and take it from them." He held up the small device.

"Now that I have this piece to study I believe we can work out what it's capable of, maybe figure out how to make it grow more quickly. Then I'll return to collect the other one and we'll have two."

"Turning a Jedi is no simple matter, they cling to their virtues with great tenacity," Malak says.

"I would be grateful to learn more of your experiences in this matter my Lord. Is it not true that you turned Bastila Shan?" He looked at the image with admiration.

"I did, though her conversion to the Dark was quickly broken by Revan... I brought her great despair, I had broken her belief that the Jedi would prevail. I had crushed her spirit but my old Master was... able to reach her. If you seek to break this Jedi you must find what she holds dearest and twist it like a knife until the wound cannot be avoided until they have to face the hatred and misery welling up inside them," Malak responds.

"Thank you my Lord, I will keep this in mind as I consider how to proceed with her." He nodded solemnly.

"Until then I am curious to know what insights you hold into the operation of the Star Forge? If this fragment is indeed a piece of it, or something similar, then whatever you recall is likely to be highly relevant."

A thought occurred to him. "Your time on Nal Hutta was prior to the discovery of the Star Forge though, was it not? Did you and Revan find something else together before then?"

"Indeed it was, it must have been this piece he found that may have spurred his quest to find the Star Forge in the first place, I had not considered that," the Holocron image responds.

Jo'ren nodded thoughtfully. "My Lord, could you tell me about how the Star Forge operated? If this is the same technology perhaps we can make it work in a similar way? Obviously the scale is too small to manufacture spaceships, but perhaps it can be put to good use nonetheless..."

"It could manufacture technology, objects... if the aliens survived this long then they tapped into this ability. It is a rather simple matter but it would need to be much larger before we can construct anything sophisticated," he replies.

"It obviously grows. There must be a way to feed it. Perhaps we can find a way to make it grow more quickly than theirs did, they clearly don't understand it after all these years."

Jo'ren summarised what the Speaker had told him about the device.

"It sounds to me like they've built up a religion or philosophy around the thing. They been in that one place for all this time but I didn't see evidence they were growing food, or had running water. For that matter there was no sign of burial grounds or waste disposal. Maybe they feed it and it feeds them? We could try to accelerate the process."

"We experiment till we find something that works, sounds like a worthy venture," Malak agrees.

"I look forward to undertaking this with you my Lord, you have much to teach me. With our will combined we shall soon have it growing to a useful size.". He tapped his chin.

"There was a series of bombings across the moon last night. There should be plenty of wreckage and bodies left unattended. I'll shall see if this fragments shows any response to the assorted mechanical and biological debris."

"Yes my Lord." As the Holocron faded Jo'ren held the device between finger and thumb, squinting at it, then placed it in his belt and carried on with his day.
