Now that Layne actually had money to spend, she returned to what she'd come to consider as the 'Jawa Enclave' at the spaceport, looking to make some purchases.
"Hey, where can I find Reek?"
She still couldn't keep them apart though.
"I'm here to pick up that bio-feedback system we discussed. And maybe something extra."
((buying, if available: Curved hilt Attachment (1000 credits), and Bio-feedback System attachment (3300 credits), as well as 200 credits of modding parts)

The jawas part and Reek is tinkering with a droid hand. He turns and says, "Oh Sith... you back for more? Want hydro-spoon?"

"No, no... I'm here to pick up that thing we talked about. The bio-feedback system? And maybe something more. You got any weapon attachments?"

“Yes.. yes we have the things make your weapons go vwoom vwoom… you pay we sell. I think you want hydro-spoon too, yes?” Reek offers as she scrounges around for what she is asking for.

"No, I'm not here for the hydrospoon. And I don't need something that makes it go vwoom vwoom. I need something to give me a slight curve to a hilt. For easier control. You got something like that?"

"Yes... yes... you sure you not want vwoom... vwoom?" he asks.
Layne feels a familiar and calm presence nearby.

"I don't know what vwoom vwoom even is."
And then she felt it. Looking around briefly, she turned back to the Jawa for a moment. "Keep looking for those parts, I'll be right back."
Layne then went to follow that feeling.

An older man... a Jedi by his presence and by her memory was kneeling and speaking with a Jawa with a calm focused look. He says to Layne while not looking at her, "I felt your presence here, not so angry as last time. Either you have cooled your fury or have learned to mask it."

She pondered what to do. Base instincts told her to grab her lightsaber and finish their business right here and now. But she refrained, her hand twitching for only a moment but never moving to her side.
"Or maybe your senses are failing you, old man."
He was right of course, despite her transparently insecure words. She *had* been growing closer to the light, though that just made the internal conflict worse.

“The Jawas are interesting and industrious individuals. They have a society based less around dominance through violence and more so through contribution to the greater good of their social group. They also have a predilection for technology, though I still don’t understand why,” he says standing as the Jawa runs off.
“They are admirable.”

"Uhuh," she nodded, skeptically. "such honest creatures, selling spoons for a 100 credits."

"To them it has great value," the Jedi retorts.

"Why are you here?" she asked, changing the subject to something more important than Jawa anthropology.

“I was looking for a new hydro-spoon,” he says calmly.

There was a brief pause, and a slight twitch in her facial features before she spoke. "I meant on Nar Shaddaa."

Master Karr says, “I arrived later than my Jedi but I am part of the delegation assisting with the peace talks. The fact that two apprentices of Darth Baras are on the moon is just coincidence. A coincidence that piques my interest.”

"So, does that mean you've been following me? Checking in on my activities, maybe?"
She considered the possibilities and angles.

"I stay informed on anyone attached to Baras, matter of professional courtesy," he responds.

"But how informed are you really? And what could you possibly do with the information you *do* have?"

“Keep the Republic appraised of any dangers posed by you and your Master. Information is a powerful tool and if anything knowing where the pieces are on the board is vital to a long term strategy,” he responds calmly.
“Perhaps I hold out hope you might change your path.”

"And what, join the Republic? Become a Jedi? As fucked up as the Empire may be, the Republic can't be all that better. Always too late to make a difference."

"I would not agree but I would hear your reasoning for why you feel that way," Master Karr says.

She rolled her eyes. "Not been on the outer rim much? Where's the republic when pirates attack some distant colony? Or when slavers go on a raiding party? Where's the republic when a Hutt squeezes out every last credit of a planet's poor? Never around, that's where."

“No one can be everywhere, Layne. There are slaves suffering on Nar Shaddaa right now, you could help them but you choose not to. So where are you? We do what we can where we can, it is all anyone can ever do,” Master Karr replies.

"Oh yeah? Well maybe I filled my slave-helping quota yesterday!"
She threw her hands up in an annoyed fashion, and then realized she'd inadvertently revealed a crack in her social armor.
