Nar Shaddaa

Once again, Niall found himself waiting for Yslane at a slightly seedy bar. This time, things were a little different, though.

He was dressed much the same as before, a cloak over his Republic uniform. While last time it was because he'd been there unofficially, this time it was mostly because he didn't want to be a target. He leaned against the wall, waiting.

Fresh from her breakfast, Yslane arrived. She had donned her hooded coat and made her way silently through the bar to take a seat across from Niall. "Captain." The scared young woman from their last meeting seemed to have grown considerably more confident. "My apologies on the deception, I would have preferred not to have concealed my presence from yourself and your soldiers." She shrugs, "But it was what it was."

"Now what can I help you with?"

Niall smiled at her, a little ruefully. "Not at all, Yslane. It rather explains a lot, in fact. I'm used to working with Republic intelligence agents. Secret Jedi intelligence agents isn't so unusual."

He slid his datapad across the table to Yslane. "I received a report from a Sith of all things that a sometimes Black Sun agent by the name of Julo Vas is connected with the disappearing children. The file we have on him indicates that he's often somewhere in this area. I was hoping you could help me track him down."

"I'll do my best....normally I don't ask for favors in return but this...." Yslane hands Niall a copy of the chit she retrieved from Magpie, "Is a mutual problem. One I wouldn't mind a soldiers eye at evaluating."

With that she reviews the information on the datapad frowning. "Let's get started."

"Oh? I'd be happy to help." Niall frowned down at the chit. "What is this?" He examined it carefully, even as he followed Yslane's lead.

He suddenly stops, hissing through his teeth. Raising his eyebrows, he looks at Yslane, holding up the chit. "This is big. How long do we have to move on this?"

"Not long I think, but best to discuss back at consulate." She pauses to smile at the Captain, "One galactic injustice at a time if you please."

The Trandoshan was found in a slummy apartment. It was full of clutter and he himself was lying down on his bed, completely high.

"This is the place." Yslane looked back to Niall, "Do you want to give him the good news?"

Niall grimaced, then gave Yslane a smile. "See, this is why I went into field command, not intelligence. We get all the glamor."

He stepped forward. "Hey. Julo Vas." His voice was pitched loudly, hopefully penetrating the drug haze. "We have some questions for you about missing children."

Yslane stepped up behind Niall and adopted that unnervingly serene look that Jedi favored when trying to look scary.

Julo remained motionless on his bed for a few long moments. Eventually he stirred and asked, "What? I told you I'm not sharing any of my stash."

Niall grimaced. "Okay. Come on. Wake up." Reaching down, he carefully shook the semi-conscious Trandoshan.

"I'll get you a drink of water. When I get back, you can decide if you'd rather talk to us here, or at Republic headquarters. Understand?" Niall stepped away, moving about his declared task, letting Yslane keep an eye on Julo for the moment.

"Julo Vas is always willing to talk. Julo Vas is an excellent negotiator." He sat up, peered at Niall leaving, and then went back to rest his head.

"Good." Niall said as he returned with a cup of what he was pretty sure was water. He handed it to the Trandoshan. "So, let's talk. Tell us about the missing children."

"I don't know any missing children," he said genuinely. Wrong use of words, apparently.

"Nothing? Allow me to refresh your memory." He leaned against the wall, crossing his arms in front of his chest. "Someone has been acquiring Force-sensitive children. They have a device that detects Force-sensitivity, and they contract out to locals who use them to find these children. They then pick these children up at pre-arranged drop points. Does this sound familiar yet?"

"The device? It's in the cabinet over there." He pointed with one finger, barely moving a muscle.

Niall's eyes narrowed. "Good, good." He said, nodding. "So, we just need to know where to take the kids, and when, then." Perhaps the Trandoshan would be drugged enough to give them all the info needed for the next meet.

The Trandoshan belched. "I kept the note right next to it," he mumbled with his eyes closed.

Will one more distrustful glance at the drugged Trandoshan, Niall turned to the cabinet. "Keep an eye on him, if you would." He whispered to Yslane as he passed her. Carefully, he opened the cabinet, not entirely trusting it not to be some sort of bizarre trap.

It turned out that the drugged out Trandoshan was particularly helpful. The device was the same that Niall had retrieved alongside Layne and beside it was a datapad with a datachip plugged in.

"Very good." Niall murmured softly. He retrieved both, walking back to Yslane. He turned so that they could both read the datapad before activating it, studying its contents.

The contents were similar to the earlier drop: a time and location in Shadow Town. In addition and perhaps more importantly, there were notes on what a more inquisitive Julo had looked into:

"Hey Julo,

Was able to track the shipment over to a freighter in the corporate sector Menzenti Spaceport. Not sure who is buying. Think we should keep looking into it?"

"Well well." Niall said. "That certainly promising. If we could figure out either the freighter, or the people who found it, that would make for a very good next step, don't you think?" He began searching for the information. "If not, maybe the data can be found by a specialist."

Yslane watched the proceedings impassively. "Is it everything you need?"
