(D3 ME) Into Oblivion

There were still corpses unattended to in the alleyways from the earlier battle. Looters picked them apart but scurried away at the sight of the two Sith in pursuit of a lead...

Layne still hadn't gotten around to getting those scrapes and bruises healed. Instead of doing that, she'd spend several hours at a bar, and then several more hours at *another* bar. But then, Layne was the tough kind. So it wasn't that big of a deal when Haydriss contacted her with a brief message of 'go here, meet with Rumun Gol, follow his lead.'

Whatever.

"You Rumun Gol?" She asked as the alien popped into view at the rendezvous point. Apparently Layne did not remember Rumun from the class picture.

Rumun was waiting in a dark alley, looking from the distance how the looters scavenged the dead bodies. He was waiting for the fearsome 'Little Wrath'.

The duro never got the oportunity to talk to Layne back at the academy, so he was wondering how if she will be able to work with him.

Layne Hoshin wrote:"You Rumun Gol?" She asked as the alien popped into view at the rendezvous point. Apparently Layne did not remember Rumun from the class picture.

The 2.1 m duro turn around. '' Ah, Lady Hoshin '' He bowed respectfully. '' Finally we meet. A shame that I did not had the opportunity to meet you back at the Academy.''

Already she was less than impressed.

Lady Hoshin? Really?

"Huh. You were at the academy? Never mind. Mind filling me in on what we're doing here? All I know is Haydriss told me to come and follow your lead."

'' Same class as you '' He said with a smile. '' Well, in any case what we are doing here is tracking a band of slavers known as the Jaw of Oblivion. They had an agreement with Lord Haydriss but they did not appear at the last exchange.'' He explained.

'' Our mission here is to investigate what happened to the group and why they were absent for the exchange. Simple'' He adds.

'' Do you have any inquiries, Lady Hoshin?'' He asked politely.

No... fucking... way.

Her body language became a lot tenser upon mention of the name of this band of slavers. So much so that Rumun might briefly labour under the impression she was about to attack him. Though she obviously didn't.

After a long and probably awkward pause, she asked; "What do you know about them?"

Rumun noticed Layne tension, yet he remained calm. He has been force choked by Darth Skotia, threatened by Darth Zash and chased by a berserker crazy mass murderer named Haydriss. Layne was far less threatening that those other three.

'' I'm afraid that I do not know anything about them. '' He shrugs. ''Do you know something?'' He asked.

She didn't exactly want to share her lifestory with him. That could be taken advantage of, all the moreso because she didn't know who his master was, and he obviously had a better connection to Haydriss than Layne did. On the other hand, it would probably come up in some fashion or another regardless.

"I have history with them. Leave it at that for now."

'' Fair enough '' He replied. There was a hint of a smile on Rumun's face. He seemed to be really excited with this job.

'' So, I suppose we should start by looking around and asking some questions to the locals '' He adds.

The Jaw of Oblivion were close by. They had went into a warehouse along with shipping containers filled with their last haul of slaves. Their location was clear for the two Sith apprentices to approach.

'' So, how we should proceed? '' Rumun asked Layne after obtaining this information. '' Front door? or we devise a plan of action. Lord Haydriss said that she didn't expect violence, but one could never be so sure when dealing with scum and dregs from the underworld...'' He adds.

She rolled her eyes.

"I don't do plans of action. I just act."

Cracking her knuckles, she continued. "A Sith has no need for anything other than a bold approach."

'' You're right, partially...'' Rumun commented. '' Boldness paired with blindness can lead you to stupidity, which can lead you to an early grave. But without any more information we cannot really devise any plan except go through the front door. '' He shrugs.

The duro slowly and calmly walks towards the warehouse. Meanwhile he tries to have a casual conversation with Layne.

'' But I do agree that sometimes bold actions are required to quickly adapt to different kind of situations. In warfare, for example, usually the initial plan is quickly overridden by the reality of the field of battle.''

'' Constantly. Bad habit of mine.'' Rumun chuckles. '' Forgive me, It was not my intention to bother you.'' He offered sincere apologies.

She rolled her eyes. "Don't apologize. How the hell did you ever become a Sith anyhow? You remind me of Gerry. Guess you're luckier than he was."

"Like you have any idea," she said.

Nobody knew what really happened to him. Well, except Layne. And the people who she told. And the people those people told.

"You do know how to use that, right?" she nodded toward the lightsaber that was presumably at his side. "I don't think I saw you out on the field..."

'' Darth Zash used him to fuel a Sith Alchemy ritual that saps the connection to the force...'' He commented without looking at Layne.

Then he looked at his crossguard lightsaber and then back at Layne. '' I know how to use it, but I'm not the best warrior around. Only recently, thanks to my master's teachings, I have found a lightsaber form that works for me. Unfortunately I haven't had too much time to practice.'' He shrugs.

She didn't bother explaining that she knew about the ritual... and probably more than he did about what it really did. Instead she focused her energies toward a more pragmatic matter.

"Then what *are* you good at?"

'' I suppose that I'm good at talking.'' He shrugs. '' My master, Darth Hoshi, recognized that trait and used me as a liason to convince imperial creditors, intergalactic conglomerates and banks to fund her campaing in the Outer Rim. With a secure financial powerbase she ascended to the Dark Council. '' Rumun explained.

'' I do also have some training in the force.'' He adds.

"That's vague to the point of being useless," she said, "what *sort* of training?"
