"One can only hope," Yslane looked out to the others in the room, "I suppose all one can do is try to make the case for peace among one's fellows? Or at least make sure no one acts on any hostile intent."

He nodded, "I cannot guarantee control over all of my associates. I would be cautious with your interactions with them. But I will advocate for reason at any opportunity I can."

[Col. Hala Moraal]

"Thank you." Niall said, almost reflexively. "And it was a few months ago now. Long enough to heal entirely. Long enough that everything doesn't taste like Kolto anymore."

He was, after all, not much over half her age.

"Well, then here's to something that doesn't taste like the bloody kelto," she said, lifting her glass again.

There was a glimmer, a look of recognition, and then she played her cards. "And what recklessness might have lead to a desire to see him harmed, my Lord?"

The Sith Lord shook her head. "I will not be answering that. You will agree or disagree based on what I have offered you. But I will add that I have an idea as to whom caused the earlier incident at the space port. Do you have any conclusions?"

"You have offered me nothing," she says coldly, looking to the mask directly. "And I have no use for suppositions."

"Well, then here's to something that doesn't taste like the bloody kelto," she said, lifting her glass again.

Niall laughed honestly at that, light touching his grey eyes. "I'll certainly drink to that." He lifted his glass with her.

Lowering it once more, he sighed. "Colonel, I don't think it would be entirely proper for me to wish you or your side luck. But perhaps I can wish us both the same good luck. I don't think anyone could find fault with that."

He shook his head, "I'm sure your intelligence operatives have a good idea of the more dangerous members of our delegation."

"I was led to believe that you could be more reasonable. Your demeanor shifts in an unpredictable manner." Haydriss shook her head in disappointment. "I offered you my expertise. Your position is one where injury is a distinct possibility. As for suppositions, it is better to have a hypothesis for a solution than to have nowhere to begin."

Niall laughed honestly at that, light touching his grey eyes. "I'll certainly drink to that." He lifted his glass with her.

"It's alright Captain, I'm not sure it would have been improper. You're a gentleman and an officer, you'll near no complaints from me lodged towards your senator about your conduct. So I'm not worried about it," she said with a slight chuckle and a smile.

You claim your brother has reason to fear reprisal from me and yet refuse to speak on as to why, and yet continue to demand I promise you he will remain unharmed. Your attempts to sway me with words and offers in spite of any actual attempt at being forthcoming are abundantly clear and I am not a woman who can be so easily bought."

"It's alright Captain, I'm not sure it would have been improper. You're a gentleman and an officer, you'll near no complaints from me lodged towards your senator about your conduct. So I'm not worried about it," she said with a slight chuckle and a smile.

"Well then." Niall raised his glass once more. "Good luck, Colonel. And I'd be pleased to exchange notes with you anytime. Allowing for operational security, of course."

"I have no doubt, but I was worried about the more aggressive ones," Yslane smiles a fraction, "Which I suppose is the most dangerous..."

He chuckled, "That is entirely situational. We have one with anger like the man I met this afternoon... in fact he was on Dantooine recently too..."

He then nodded, "And we have a few who you wouldn't want to meet in a dark alley."

"I can assure you that the category of people I wouldn't want to meet in a dark alley is fairly large already," She patted her side, "The Foreign Office doesn't train its people to be all that dangerous. Avoidance is the official policy you might say."

There was a brief moment of silence until she began to laugh without restraint. "I had forgotten about how unyielding your family was." She then grew quiet and lowered her head. "My condolences for your loss, Kristal."

Haydriss tilted her head. "Recall that my brother is a man who seeks to be unchallenged. He sees you as threat to his standing and may maneuver against you. However, he does not have the rapport to cause you permanent harm." Another pause. "You may demonstrate to him that you are not to be trifled with but I will not accept more."

She took a breath. "I will offer this as a measure of good will. I believe your would-be assassin is the twi'lek slicer you encountered before. Layne Hoshin was also subjected to an attack at the space port."

He nodded, "That is perhaps wisest. Essentially I wouldn't trust any of us further than you can throw us; which looking at your physique would not be very far."

Kristal crossed her arms over her chest, thought on everything Haydriss had said and then nodded.

"It does me no harm to admit that your brother had nothing to fear from me," she said, keeping her stance strong. Not really finding the desire to be harsh with the woman, but already she was getting the sense that Haydriss actually believed her brother was weak. Allowing her head to nod again in acceptance of the offered gesture, "Your offer is noted and I will take it under consideration."

"Yourself included," She teases, still with a hint of nervousness, "Perhaps I'll just avoid Dark Alleys all together."

I ensured Layne Hoshin's health earlier." A pause. "She vouched for you, Kristal Serasai. I believed you would not be receptive to my offer in the least."

He nodded, "That is perhaps wisest. Essentially I wouldn't trust any of us further than you can throw us; which looking at your physique would not be very far."

"Yourself included," She teases, still with a hint of nervousness, "Perhaps I'll just avoid Dark Alleys all together."

"Dark Alleys Cantina is apparently a lovely place to have a drink from what I am told. So maybe keep that one 'dark alley' on your radar." He chuckled.

"...I'd wager I'll need a drink before the end of this business," Her eyebrows raise a fraction, "I'll take that as a personal recommendation."

He chuckled, "I hope my sources are correct then."

He turned his head to look at her, "Would you happen to be attending the luncheon tomorrow?"

"Nothing of concern Lord Haydriss, of that I assure you," she said as the other woman looked to her. "I had just enough time to save myself from some of the blast."

'What lead you to believe I would not be receptive to such an offer, my Lord?"

[Col. Hala Moraal]

"Well then." Niall raised his glass once more. "Good luck, Colonel. And I'd be pleased to exchange notes with you anytime. Allowing for operational security, of course."

She gave him a wry smile and nodded.

"And you, Captain."

He chuckled, "I hope my sources are correct then."

He turned his head to look at her, "Would you happen to be attending the luncheon tomorrow?"

Yslane nods, "Such will likely be required of me as a representative of the Foreign Office. I take it from your question you will be attending as well?"
