Nothing Like Skipping Lines [Day 4, Early Evening]

Dressed in the
black dress Shaisha had helped her pick out for her evening with Sylvain, Kristal made her way to Club Vertica. Having been given the pass for the entirety of their stay she was hardly going to
not use it even once and with the sense of something big coming her way, in no slow matter, Kristal found now to be the time to actively seek out the chance to just... have fun.
Flashing the pass she made her way into the Club, taking off first to the bar. There was nothing like a good drink to get anyone, even Kristal, to loosen up a little.

Asra actually dressed up to come up here. Or at least she'd traded her military fatigues for a nice dress. She'd only ever worn it twice in her life. Both occasions had been... memorable and she hoped in the back of her mind that no one was there who remembered them.
There was a person who looked familiar, though. She stepped up beside Kristal at the bar. She wasn't sure what level of formality was approp5just yet, so she simply said, "Good evening."

Kristal, drink now firmly in her right hand, turned to face the familiar voice. Recognition flashing across her expression as she settled, knowing it was nothing that would bother her evening by state of the woman's dress. "Corporal," she said in familiar greeting.
"I see I am not the only one who has come out to enjoy the evening after a long day," she said, waving over the bartender, "join me for one drink, at least. In celebration of our success yesterday, if you need to rationalize it."

"Well, I figured I had to spend one evening in something other than a dive just to say I did," she joked with a smile. She orders a whiskey straight, then looks over to Kristal after accepting it. "A good night out is its own reward. Though the success the other day has put me in good enough spirits to really enjoy it."

"I do not usually come to this sort of place," she said, glancing out over the crowd of people dancing off on the floor. "However, a friend of mine said that I should not be wasting my youth. I find that this is likely as close to avoiding that as I can manage."
Turning she raised her glass in her true hand, calling attention to the glove she still wore on the other, "To a good night, and successful ventures," she toasted.

She smiles and then chuckles softly. "I have to admit, this is the most time I've spent in places like this, too. My spotter is even worried about me." She holds up her drink and taps it against Kristal's gently. "Yes, indeed."
"Do much dancing?"

With the satisfying clink echoing out Kristal took a drink and then lay the drink passively out in between them as they spoke, "Nothing like they dance here. When I was younger I could dance if I wanted at the balls that my Family was invited to. Being the only daughter of a well respected Moff gave the suitors courage however, and my they were unimpressed with my sudden case of two left feet."

She smiles a little at the story, nodding. "I'm surprised that gave them courage rather than at least making them a bit hesitant. I suppose they learned better quickly with that." She looked out, taking a drink and swallowing. "A few people I knew used to dance like this. I'm just a workaholic, I guess."

"Imperial Men," she started but decided to be a bit more specific, "Imperial Noble Men seem to find a challenge to be more inviting. I find it is a result of our ambitious nature, to always excel. However, as you guess. A few sore toes later and they knew better," she said, nursing her drink for a moment.
"How old were you when you were brought into the Empire Corporal?" she asked, as it was not uncommon that some forces needed to be drafted from the newly conquered worlds. Especially those outside of main Imperial space. "Perhaps I am being rude."

"It's certainly one possible explanation," she admits. "You're not being rude at all. I was born in the Empire, a few years after it formed."

There was a spurn to talk of her family for some reason and that cause Kristal to look down on her drink for a moment. Shaking off the thought she looked to Asra and decided to ask while glancing to the dance floor, "I am going to go out there and make an absolute fool out of myself. Would you care to accompany me?"

The silence surprised Asra a little. "Uh, did I say something wrong? I apologize." At the suggestion, she nods, smiling a little. "Sure." She finishes her drink in a quick swallow. "Let's go."

"Nothing you said Corporal," she said as she similarly finished her drink and turned to guide them both to the floor.
"Something I almost said," she half laughed at that and shook her head. "But enough of that, shall we attempt to have some fun?" she asked just as she turned around so she backing into a spot on the floor. Facing Asra as she found a place for them both on the edge.

"I'm sure whatever it was, I wouldn't be offended... But yeah, that's a good idea," she says with a smile, following Kristal onto the dance floor. She listens to the music for the moment to get the rhythm before starting to dance a little bit. She clearly doesn't know anything complicated, but her natural agility lets it look graceful, at least.

Kristal worked her way into it as they skirted the edge, slower more reserved motions than the rest. However, it wasn't so different that she was actually making a fool of herself but her style was clearly not of the fast paced beat that so often Nar Shaddaa clubs inspired. At all times the woman seemed in complete control, just the way she liked it.
"It would not be a concern of causing offense to you, Asra," she said after they got into the motion and didn't need to so directly follow the beat. "I did not wish to potentially ruin the evening by bringing up my Father," she said, the last word low enough that if either wanted to lose it to the noise it was easily lost.

"Ahhh...." she replied with a nod. "That's fair... It's a matter of choice whether we let it ruin things. Don't be too concerned." She pauses and does a little turn to the music. "Though I suppose saying that is kind of silly of me. You don't need my words."

"Since my hubris is not so large that I would not believe otherwise. I would ask, do you know who my Father is? Who my Father was?" she asked, maintaining her cool, naturally Imperial presence. Even here on the dance floor the woman seemed to exercise years of regimented schedules and training.

"I've heard some," she agrees, listening as she dances under the strains of the music, it drowning out their words for anyone near.

"Despite what some believe, he died an honorable and confused man," she said, perhaps more cryptically than she normally liked to be. However, one could never broach the topic so safely. There was something about this, maybe that she was enlisted Imperial Military, that made her want to find Asra's leaning on the matter.

Asra nods. "I believe that. Honestly, I'm glad to hear you say so... It did seem a little strange," she muses at the cryptic statement.

"Something that will be fixed in the future, when the time is right," she said, low enough that it was hard for even Asra to hear. Continuing in the motion, albeit her spirit for dancing wavered slightly.

"Please let me know if I can help. I'm sure you'll succeed regardless, though," she says with the sort of certainty reserved for facts of the universe. Seeing the need to change the subject, though, she admits, "My family... well, they're about as far away from the halls of power as it's imaginable to be."

"If there is something you may do, I will be sure to inform you Corporal, you have already proven your merit," she said on that note in finality.
Moving to Asra's own family, she wondered, "Farmer's or?" not wanting to suggest the latter so directly if it weren't the case.

"Or," she said, letting the other matter drop entirely, without response.

"Do they still live?" she asked, assuming the mortality rate for slave's across the galaxy didn't change significantly.
