A Hilt Fit For A Queen (D4, EN-MN - Open)

Wearing simple robes over her dress to fit more in with the Sith aesthetics, Shaisha went to work on reforging the hilt of the ghost-pirate's lightsaber. It was time to truly make it hers, and tonight had inspired her to do it now. And Anthy had also delivered those schematics she had asked for days ago!

Ears plugged with music from her datapad, the female pureblood hummed along to the rythm of the music as she worked with an inspired zeal.

Zeno entered the work area, and saw Shaisha there, doing her thing. For a moment he thought of sneaking up behind her and goosing her, but she seemed to be in a good mood and he didn't want to ruin that for her. Instead, he walked around to the other side of the table leaned on the edge, careful not to move anything. He winked at her and smiled as she did her thing.

Shaisha nodded to Zeno, favouring him with a smile as she did, but stayed focused on her work for the moment.

She finished some of the casing as she decided on a break. "Come to admire my hard work?" she chuckled.

"Among other things," he says. "I should probably be resting after me and Kristal took a blast from a mandalorian stun grenade, but what's a little ear ringing compared to the company of a beautiful Sith."

"Oh? Sounds like a fun way to spend an evening, and I wasn't invited?" Shaisha shoots him a playful grin. "Care to tell me about it?"

"An operation to sway Mandalorian opinion. Helped the daughter of the current clan Nodd head take control of the clan. He had been meeting with Republicans at the time though, so that was a surprise. Not many died, a few of the mandalorians, before things were brought to an anticlimactic halt. Kristal got shot a few times, but was fine. We both got hit by the same grenade. Eventually the head passed on leadership," he explains.

"Sounds like a typical outing for Kristal Serasai," Shaisha laughs. "Getting shot, and hit by grenades."

"She was never the best at dodging."

"Well, she handled herself well. And she's got a bed bay to take care of her," he says, repeating with the woman had said to her.

He looks down to the saber. "Light it up?"

She gives a nod and turns the hilt a little in her hands before she lights it up. The ghostly-yellow blade makes no sound as it is ignited.

"Reforged the one we found at the pirate-ship at Korriban... it has served me well, but it was also time to truly make it mine." The hilt was curved, though in a slightly unusual way to allow it to better accomodate the reverse grip common to the Shien style, and the grip seemed to be perfectly molded to fit her grip.

"What a coincidence," he says with a smirk. "I made a brand new hilt today."

When she lights hers up, his own new saber finds it's way to his hand, extending along the length of his forearm, the blade shin igniting and drawing a line from the end of his elbow. The beam also looks a bit more intense than it had previously appeard, the green streaks of lightning seeming even more agitated than they had previously.

"A Guard Shoto?" her eyes widen a little surprise. "Not often seen. Felt like shoring up your defenses a little more, hm?"

"Not often easy to handle. And for someone reflexes like mine, it offers a lot of benefit without too much worry about burning your own arm off," he says with a chuckle. "Even more mobility and reactivity than a curved hilt can provide, though I plan on using the shoto and guard as a pair, rather than dual of either. Makes me more flexible in the situation."

He winks at her. "Flexibility is important."

"Well I know all about that," she grins playfully.

"The shoto is a useful design," she pats the one at her hip, "good for balancing when dual wielding, but I personally find the guard shoto design to be too... clunky for my style."

"Clunky?" he says with a laugh. "No, I think just a bit more complex than most can handle."

As he says that he goes into a series of movements with it in one hand that would cost most people a hand or worse. But Zeno's handling was perfect. "Keeps the enemies on their toes and their eyes distracted."

"Too clunky for my style," she repeats with an amused grin.

"You know me, I like a simple elegance..."

Turning off the saber, he clips it away onto his belt. "Simple elegance? Or ostentatious excess like that apartment? Because the suites here I think may represent simple elegance more."

"More like spartan cells," she chuckles. "And it isn't my apartement... just borrowing it."

"You haven't seen the Lord rooms have you," he says with a smirk. "Hardly spartan. If you'd like a drink, we can stop in my room. It is stocked. Certainly not Vowrawn's personal apartment, but the furnishings are actually very nice."

"While that does sound nice... I feel I should stay focused tonight on my work, now that I'm inspired. The guidance of Lord Haydriss opened up my eyes a little."

"Oh? She doesn't trust me enough to share," he says with a chuckle, he says. "Understandable, I suppose, as she wouldn't want her research to fall into the hands of a peer."

"Perhaps it is your master that makes her way, hm? Zash is reaching for a lot very fast after all... if I were a researcher I'd be wary too."

"That is part of it too. Curious though, that both of them would likely want to know what the other is working on and neither would be willing to share," he says with a chuckle. "Even though both could potentially gain a tremendous amount from that."

"Perhaps, but your master does have a reputation..." her voice trails off a little. Zash hadn't exactly made a lot of friends, and Shaisha had a hunch she'd probably step on more toes along the way without care in her quest for power.

"She does. But despite that reputation, she knows which toes to step on and who to build working relationships with. And how to utilize the resources she has," he says with a shrug.

Does she really, I wonder. She's been lucky so far.

Shaisha shrugs as well. She considered Zash someone getting this far thanks to some good fortune and luck, but someone also living on borrowed time.

"So what sort of other plans do you have for your weapons?" she asks, changing the subject away from masters and back to the lightsabers.
