[Day 4 - Early Afternoon] Changing of the Guard

Vec strolled out of the barracks and called out to his squad, "All right everyone, gathering around! On me!" He waved them over with a hand for something of an informal gathering, carrying his helmet under his other arm.
His squad had been standing about, ready to take orders for their day for their shift's patrol. They filled in without too much fuss in short order. Vec gave each of them a glance, able to tell them apart even with their helmets on. Admittedly, there were some troops that were missing from his squad. He gave his chin a small scratch before he started, "So, yesterday was pretty ugly but we made it. It was almost a decent show. We lost two yesterday, yeah? Stick to formations and stay smart, better chance you'll make it out. Just because we're surrounded by gambling dens and some of the finest booze in the galaxy, there's no reason to get sloppy or think of this as some paid vacation," he said on a stern note. The sergeant was never a motivational speaker, his thoughts were to the point.
"Kala," he ordered forward.
"Sir!" Answered a female trooper that stepped forward, using her eagerness to hide her surprise.
"You're corporal now, you'll be replacing Cai," he said as he handed her the proper insignia to clip to her armour. If there were complaints about the field promotion, the troopers kept it to themselves. It was just asking for trouble to show that in front of the sergeant.
With that order of business done, Vec sent his squadron on their way, "All right, everyone to their posts and patrols. We're in for a long one today, orders from the top. Get to it!"
