Reconvening [D10, LM]

Luth walked over the the Republic Compound, tired, her steps heavy. She felt around in her pockets... No ID to confirm who she really was. It was going to be tough to be able to talk her way in. She walked with purpose, carefully over any stray wreckage and toward where they were likely to have set up temporary shelters for survivors and meetings.

"I don't know, Claire. I hope the trail ends with his death but we can never be too sure. Stay safe." The twi'lek gave a weak wave goodbye to her fellow agent and then took a sip from her mug.

Luth approaches Naveera with a tired half-smile. "I have a death to report, myself."

Naveera nodded and didn't even look up from her datapad. "Who have you identified, ma'am?"

"Luth Khalan reporting. Asra Nakahti is missing, presumed dead on the Imperial end. Likely in the Imperial compound explosion," she said.

"Good to know she's out of the picture," Naveera remarked coldly. She glanced around and then gestured for Luth to follow her to a more secure location. "Welcome home, Luth," she said with a smile.

She nods seriously and follows Naveera, breaking into a relieved smile at Naveera. "I can't begin to tell you how good it feels to hear that." She closes her eyes and lets out a breath she felt like she'd been holding since she first went undercover. "I'm glad to see you came back, as well. I'm sorry I couldn't make it... The incident with the barge. I'll report, but... what the hell happened here?"

"There were massive bombings throughout the moon. Casualty reports are still filing in." Naveera tapped on her datapad and then turned it to Luth. "The most pressing for us is Matthias Norsoa."

The twi'lek SIS agent sighed. "It's almost like they knew that security would be lighter due to the operation regarding Project: Evolution."

She lets out a soft breath as she picks up the datapad, looking it over, scanning the information present. She shakes her head. "It's not a good thing, but it may be for the best that someone else takes up that position," she said. Her voice wasn't cold, wasn't pleased, was just tired. "The simplest answer would be that they might indeed have. And the barge was timed just before. And I know, at least, the Shaisha Vreysk knew about the bombs. She tried to warn Asra about them."

She takes out her Club Vertica pass. "Do you have one of these with you?"

"I suppose the question is whom, Luth," the twi'lek noted in regards to Matthias' successor. Naveera then perked her brow. "Do you think she had something to do with it then? Or did she discover one and tried to warn a friend?"

She shook her head. "I wasn't there for to receive one. What do you have planned?"

"That is the question... and an important one. Who decides?" She continues looking through the information. "I'd want more information before making a call on that. Get what monitoring and resources we have on recent whereabouts, that sort of thing." She hands the datapad back. "No, we need to take a look at the others that were given out. I discovered last night that mine was bugged. Subtle work. Fortunately, I almost never carried it around, but everyone else who had one..." She presses her lips together, brow furrowing. "Too little, too late probably, but still."

"I imagine the Director will handle promotions. I can't say I've ever head of a Handler getting killed though."

Naveera nodded. "That makes sense. They couldn't have just handed them out out of their good will alone."

"Exactly my thought. It seems obvious in hindsight, but you know what they say," she says. "Me, either... I guess we'll see what happens when it happens. I guess digging up whatever's left of what was here and coordinating is on us for now."

"Sorry I had to pull out on my own, but it seemed like a handy time, especially with the... other thing that came up. I'll keep the run down simple for now: Sylvain Torsin followed a sense to the barge and found Magpie and Baras fighting. Rumun Gol, Layne Hoshin, and Zeno Deathwright were also there. Torsin chose to attack Baras. Baras cut down Magpie, Hoshin, and Deathwright, and Torsin surrendered. Gol destroyed the barge controls to crash it. I helped Torsin and the remaining forces crash the barge before it could run into the compound. Magpie and Hoshin disappeared and Deathwright's wounds were treated and he was taken from the scene."

She lets out a quick sigh and goes, "Let's see... There was Vreysk's message. It was pretty cheerful, all things considered, so my first instinct is that she's involved with the somehow, but like I said, I think it bears investigating."

"And, uh, the other thing, right. I found out I'm, uh..." She takes a breath. "Force sensitive. So that's a thing. All the more reason to extract when I did. It would've been death or Korriban otherwise, and immediately."

Naveera nodded along, inputting Luth's report into the database up until the final part. She paused and then stared at Luth. "You're not lying to me, are you? Jeez... how did none of us detect that? Wouldn't the Jedi have checked you after you were freed?"

"Kriff if I know," she sighed, leaning against a convenient surface. "I'm a terrible liar and we both know it. I don't know how it slipped by. I don't know about any of it." She felt around her pockets for the pack of cigarettes she'd gotten the other day, then thought better of it, crossing her arms over her stomach.

"Well, goodness. I can only imagine if Matthias was alive. 'Stay and infiltrate the Sith' or something ridiculous like that."

She actually laughs a little. "You know, it's funny, I was thinking, 'You know, I shouldn't tell Matthias. He's just going to tell me to go to the Academy and become Sith.'" She shakes her head. "I've seen where that path leads, though."

She gets up. "Do you need any help collecting and processing? At least for a while. I need to go help with the rescue later, and Arali asked me for help after that, but I have some time to stay."

"Another reason to be glad he's dead." She frowned at her own words. "Awful thing for me to say."

Naveera shrugged. "I can handle it but I could use a helping hand. I feel like you deserve a bit of time off after being on the job for so long though, Luth."

"I've still got a couple of days left here," she says with a shrug. "I'll be off the job once we got off this forsaken moon. Then... I think some leave is in order, though we'll see what the Jedi have to say about that." She takes a deep breath and lets out out.

"Oh, Magpie. She's... Torsin's mother, going by what Baras said on the barge."

Naveera nodded. "Right, guess there's still some stuff to tidy up.

"Sylvain's mother? Interesting. I will be sure to pass that on. Did she actually perish in the battle? I doubt it if Baras is trying to push the blame onto Layne."

"The very same," she says. "No, her body wasn't found. It's safe to assume she's alive."

"Well then. I will be sure to pass this up higher." Naveera gave her a weak smile. "Too bad you couldn't put a bullet in that bastard. But I can only imagine how chaotic it was on that barge. You did well, Luth. Exceptional, even. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise."

"I tried, believe me. I was close, too... I was a matter of an inch or two," she says, looking a little distant. "I see that miss every time I close my eyes."

She shakes her head. "Thanks. I guess we'll see what they say at the debriefing from here." A hand comes up to rub her forehead. "Shall we get to work?"

"It's hard to imagine how different today would be if he died there. Would the Magpie have usurped his position? Would Sylvain Torsin?"

The twi'lek lady nodded. "Right. I need to keep categorizing everything that happened. Casualty reports, regardless of affiliation, are important for our information network."

She lets out a long breath. "It makes you wonder... Oh, well." She shakes her head. "Let's see if I can at least help you a bit before I have to go, then."
