Nar Shaddaa

Alysele didn't walk with a skip in her step. She was too dignified for that. She was still darn tootin' happy.

Unfortunately, her arm didn't share her early morning enthusiasm. It was wrapped in a sling, so she chimed in with her right. "Doctor Ormont? Jedi Knight Cortess." Her voice was cheery. Too cheery.

The doorchime woke him, though he missed the greeting, and Cole runs his hand over his face before propping himself up on an elbow and looking at the time. 4am? Fuck me. He pushed himself up so he was sitting, “who is it, and what do you need?”

"Jedi Knight Alysele Cortess. My arm is still hurting and I am in for a long day, I was hoping you could help me." Her voice was unnaturally cheery. Drugs perhaps?

“Lights. Mid-level,” he mutters, rolling out of bed and crossing to the refresher. “Enter,” he barks towards the door. He pauses until the door slides open to call back over his shoulder, “take a seat, I’ll be right there,” his pale skinny ass disappearing into the other room.

Aly walked in, oblivious, or at least immune, to his barking. "Oh, did I wake you?"

Cole doesn't answer as the refresher door slides closed behind him. He can be heard pissing and the toilet flushes, he washes his hands. He comes out of the refresher wearing pants and boots, but shirtless and unshaven. He runs a hand through his hair and rubs the back of his neck; he looks tired, more than just being pulled from bed at 4am with a hangover would explain.

“Jedi Cortessa, is your arm still troubling you?”

"Yes..." She frowned. "Are you okay doctor? Are you sleeping well?"

He has a strangely ominous feeling, but he chalks it up to the hangover. "I'm sleeping well enough. Let's take a look at you." He takes the mediscanner from its pouch and tightens the scanning band, moving it over the Jedi's arm.

Running a hand restlessly through his hair, "no wonder it's still troubling you, you've torn open the joint capsule. I'm surprised there isn't a lot more swelling, but it looks like a slow leak, fortunately for you." Cole rattles around for some equipment, "sorry about this, I'm just going to need to make a small incision above your elbow."

The procedure is painless, and over in minutes. When he's done, there's barely a red mark to show that he's treated her.

"That's alright, do what you need to do." Aly was unnaturally calm. What was the reason? Well, she didn't care. She felt happy for the first time in a long, long, long time.

"Let me know if there is anything bothering you. If you can't sleep well... maybe I can help."

Her cheeriness was grating on him, making his headache worse. When he'd done administering to Alysele, he turned away, taking something else out of his kit and setting it to one side before putting the rest of the items away.

Without turning, Cole pushes his hand through his hair, "there's nothing you can help with. It's not my sleep that's the problem." He faces the young Jedi again, tired eyes hard, "is there anything else?"

Alysele frowned again but there few things she didn't butt into, especially today morning.

"Thank you Doctor. Your help is appreciated. Now, what IS the problem?" She stressed. Oh no, she wasn't letting this one go.

Cole massaged his temples, the headache and dehydration and early hour were combining forces against his defenses. If it will make her go away so I can go back to bed...

Scratching absently at his bare chest, he thinks about how much he wants to say. Being open is unfamiliar to him. Just make something up, she's not going to know the difference anyway. He runs a hand through his hair and looks are the young woman, "too much time alone and thinking. Should be used to it by now," he grunts.

"Well, don't be alone." Was her super helpful response. "I'm here now. Talk about it."

A hazy memory of arguing with Ashla floats up from the night before, and that he'd made an ill-advised attempt to locate some company. "That's very nice of you, Jedi Cortessa, but that's not the kind of alone I mean."

"Ah." Even cheery Jedi could take a hint. "That is not something I can help with." Said the Jedi who already got some the other night.

"Perhaps than I shouldn't be bothering you...."

Cole runs a hand through his hair, "I'm glad I could be of assistance, and I apologise that I'm not in a talkative mood. Is there anything else?"

"No... I don't think so. But." She stood up and moved closer to him. "I am here to help, if you need it Doctor. Anytime, really." She frowned. "Take good care of yourself. You are a good man."

He allows some of his tension to bleed away. "Jedi Cortess, I'd say the same to you. Of all the people who could darken my doorstep at such an uncivilised hour, you have to be a favourite, but you need to be careful."

"...I'm the only one, aren't I?" She said, and let out a small laugh.

"Take care then Doctor." She smiled and moved away. "Let me know if there's anything I can help with."

She waved one last time, and made her
