"Not necessarily," Arali corrects.
"There are, after all, many steps past the first. Many techniques. To feel that pain directly is the most basic method. From here, you learn to protect yourself, to connect with your patient and their ills without suffering them yourself. You learn when to heal, and when not to heal, to accept the difference between 'hurt' and 'harmed.' Most Jedi learn the basics of these techniques, and I am but an amateur myself. But to truly devote yourself to the path of the healer? That is a rare and noble gift and calling. And if you seek it, then it is a path I wish to aid you along to the best of my meager abilities."
