Doc, It Hurts! (D8, LE, Shai's place)

[Shaisha Vreysk]

"Ugh, now you're starting to sound preachy," now the groan was more over Syl's words than it was over her own pain and situation.

"But you're not the light that will vanquish this darkness, Syl... at least, I don't think so. My first vision was of my father turning to a silhouette of light, where his own shadow stained the light... and the other have been a shining knight."

[Sylvain Torsin]

"You make way too many assumptions about what I'm saying recently... it's like you try to make me look like an arrogant and self-deluded asshole..." He shakes his head in frustration.

"I'm just talking about getting you and others the help they need right now. Your visions can go to hell as far as I'm concerned... they've told us the important thing, we now must act the best way we can." He looked into her eyes.

"Quit making this about something else and listen to the words I am saying for once." He said straightly.

Shaisha took a moment to compose herself.

"... Sorry, my mind's all over the place. Not your fault. Think you're gonna have to spoon it to me now, since I think we might've talked past eachother."

[Sylvain Torsin]

He nodded, "You don't use the Light... I can. You are injured and require help to get back to full strength. It requires someone to help you do that or for you to make the sacrifice yourself."

He tilted his head, "Your other option is to go back. Be the Emperor's 'child' and do what he bids you do to... that too is a perfectly viable option. There are many who believe the Emperor to be wise enough to lead the Empire into a greater future; you could be a part of that. But you would be required to subject your will to his; perhaps forever. And what you have told us is that he intends to destroy the entire galaxy... That's not something I personally condone, but perhaps you could make that decision."

He sighed, "What is up to us right now is to make the choices we feel best support our objectives. Morality whether it be for Light or Dark is just another set of chains... Victory is what matters. And if we need to destroy the Emperor and break his bonds with his children in any way we can to preserve the Empire... then so be it. The Empire as currently constituted has an illness deep to its core... that much is apparent."

[Shaisha Vreysk]

"I... I'm not sure on the details of the ritual needed to restore me, but I'd happily let you come along and help me," she nodded, focusing hard on what Syl was saying.

"No. No, I'm not going back to Him. Not willingly. I just... I just know it's not going to be easy to break his control over them. If it's the same as it was with me, it will rely on their own willpower to do so. I'm just... a little concerned," she sighed, "my father seemed... he said that no one can break free of Him completely. That only death would be true freedom from Him."

Shaisha wrapped her arms around herself.

"Sometimes I'm not sure if he's telling the truth, or if time has just made him cynical."

[Sylvain Torsin]

Sylvain nodded, "The world tends to make one cynical... that has good and bad consequences. I don't know his circumstances better than the next guy... but I know taking you in got my father the political capital he needed to become the Minister of War... it means Scourge is invested in you, that he's trying to look out for you in some way. I think he knows opposing the Emperor at our level is not an endeavor that will bear fruit. Without knowledge of how to reverse the conditions of 'childhood' I'm sure he's just trying to protect you in any way he can. If he knew there was a way to free you from the connection... perhaps he'd make different comments."

She listened to what he said, silently taking it in. Damnit, why did Syl have to put things in such a better perspective than her own moody feelings allowed her to do? What he said made so much more sense than what her own feelings had been telling her these years.

Her father had been patient for nearly three hundred years... she could afford herself some patience too in tackling that particular threat. Some seeds had already been sown with the Jedi to make them prepared for it, after all.

"... Thank you. For telling me what I needed to hear."

[Sylvain Torsin]

He shrugged, "I'm not all hot-air all the time."

[Shaisha Vreysk]

"You do have your moments," she cracked a smile.

"I'm sorry for being a difficult sister so often."

[Sylvain Torsin]

He smiled and wrapped his arm around her shoulder gently, "You're worth the hassle... most of the time."

She chuckled and leaned against him.

"... We're a weird family, you and I. And Kris too."

[Sylvain Torsin]

He nodded and smiled, electing not to squeeze too tight given the circumstances, "That we are."

[Shaisha Vreysk]

"... I think I'll need help to get upstairs to the bedroom. You can take the guestroom if you want."

And I'm getting too paranoid to sleep alone...

He smiled and nodded, "Gladly Shai."

He hoisted her up in his arms and started to walk towards the stairs, "You two need to stop getting hurt so badly. I'll have to take up medicine as a side gig if I'm to be your nurse from now on."

It was times like these that Shai was very grateful for Sylvain being much bigger than her and Kris. Sure, he didn't have Kristal's strength (few did), but the height and extra bulk made it easier for him to carry her around.

"You could dress as Lucena Darklight in that episode where she disguised herself as a nurse to track down that Republic double-agent. Kris probably won't mind."

[Sylvain Torsin]

He chuckled, "If Kris wants me to dress up as Lucena... that's the only way I'm putting that costume on again."

[Shaisha Vreysk]

"I'm sure I can find some way of persuading her into it," she snickered.

[Sylvain Torsin]

"You perv." He said with a smile and a laugh as he opened the door to her room.

He set her down on the bed and pulled the covers out of the way for her to get under them.
