[Day 7 - LA] Quiet on the Set! (Closed)

The Veranza building is closed to visitors and the crew for Vera Hawke: Jedi Knight has taken over and transformed the fifth floor into a fascimile of an Imperial base, with clean steel design and a menacing aura. The effect is more comical than realistic but it is suitably dramatic. The winners of the costume contest will be given a chance to read their lines and perform for the holo-series.

The crew is hard at work trying to keep things moving.

OOC: Open to cosplay winners.

Hala clomps her way to the set and tries to find where she should be. She immediately gets warning glances from the crew who caution her to be quieter when they are actually filming. Flashing a conciliatory smile, she softly clomp clomps over towards the spot marked for her where she waits patiently.

Alysele's heels clicked as she walked on set. The amount of make up was higher than usual, but she was almost looking like a living being now. She gave a nod to Hala, and tried ignoring the glances she got from the crew. She accepted her datapad with her lines. Who am I playing?

Hala walked over to the vaguely familiar woman and smiled.

"I don't think we've ever been introduced. My name's Hala," she said as she extended her left hand.

"Alysele." She extended her hand as well. "So they licensed the angel for the series?" She gestured towards Hala's outfit.

"Seems like it, though I expect it'll just be for the one episode and then killed off. They probably don't want to have her for longer than that. Who would?" She said with a smile and a shrug.

"Well, if they kill you after one episode, they can bring in someone else to avenge your death?" She asked curiously, while checking her own stuff. "To be honest, I'm not sure who am I supposed to be exactly.... alternate dimension evil self? Dream version evil self? Evil twin?" She shrugged. "Curious where they'll take this."

"Maybe you just represent her mind struggling against the normalities the Jedi try to deny within themselves," she said with a shrug and a smile.

"That sounds too high minded. Not sure they'll go with that." She looked arund the set. "Lots of work goes into this."

Hala chuckled and shrugged, then leaned in an confessed.

"I've never really seen the show before."

A crew member hands them datapads with their scripts on it. Alysele will be playing a Jedi who is trying to convince Vera to not leave for Ziost and go undercover. Hala will be playing an Imperial Officer who has to investigate Vera's ship.

The crew member says, "You should get to makeup."

"Hm... interesting." Alysele followed the instructions, and sat down to the make up stand. "Will it be much, or just some basic foundation?"

"Oh-kay." I have a bad feeling about this.

Hala moved over compliantly to makeup and deactivated the micro-holo emitters that helped mask some of the imperfections in her face.

The crew cake on the makeup and then direct them to get changed in the dressing room into their wardrobe, a drab set of Jedi robes and a uniform that is woefully out of line with what the Empire actually wears.

It is a bit embarrassing.

Hala took a look at the costume in the dressing room then peeked her head back out of the door.

"Uh.... sir? I could just wear a real one if you want? My uniform?" she offered.

"... Understood," she said before slipping back into her dressing room. She stared at the dissonantly unfamiliar uniform before carefully slipping the cheap fabric on. Once she had finished, she went back to make up for touch ups before returning to the set to wait.

Wow. This doesn't bode well.

"Are you sure this is what I should be wearing? Nothing else? Hundred percent sure?"

“You look like a real Jedi!” the crewmember says. “The people will love it, just memorize the lines look good and everything will work out great!”

Once everything is set they film the Imperial scene first with a stand in for Jin Vaya. The Imperial Officer says the following lines, “Well it is an old code, my lord but it checks out, let the ship on board.”

The scene is supposed to be a space station orbiting Ziost, the authenticity leaves a lot to be desired for Hala.

And begin scene!

The Jedi scene is supposed to take place on Coruscant and the Jedi’s lines are, “We don’t agree with your decision, but damn it you are the best we got Vera, but may the Force be with you.”

OOC: This is a Charm or Deception check at Hard with a setback.

Alysele did not look like herself... which to be fair, meant she probably looked like the average Jedi.

"We don't agree with your decision." She scowled like her master used to do, just with less lekku. "But..." She let out a dramatic sigh. "Dammit Vaya. You're the best we got!""

She looked in the eyes of the Vin-substitute. "May the Force be with you." She added some extra grave to her voice for good measure.

The crew is impressed with the performance though the director has her do it about seven more times till it means her exacting criteria. Or at least that is the assumption. One of the crew says, “That sounded like a real Jedi, gave me chills.”
