Having gotten patched up as good as she was gonna get, Layne set out on the task that Baras had given her.

Layne finds a lead to an upscale bistro posing as a front for some unsavory business. Whatever is going on it seems like it might be a good lead to follow up. There are a few hip customers inside ordering organic food from all across the galaxy and waxing poetically about how great they are for being socially aware and eco-friendly.

Layne headed inside, but lingered on the edges of the establishment. No need to order anything unless they took care to make an issue out of it. Instead, she spent her time watching. Counting the number of people who seemed like they might be a problem. Looking for additional exits. Entrances. Anything that could potentiall be a problem or advantage if things should turn ugly.

Layne notices she is the only human in the bistro and that most of the guests are twi’leks. The server, a droid with a sassy attitude says, “So you I just want to be upfront but everything here is sourced locally from Nal Hutta. We only use cruelty free, open ranged raised bantha and the special is a rather delicate Rylothian flavored crostata with a soft wine reduction. It’s the best.”

“It is to die for,” the droid finishes.

"Right," she said dismissively to the droid as it spoke to her. She took note of all the twi'leks, wondering if they were even guests at all. Perhaps the force would tell her something more. But nothing. She felt nothing that she could use.

So she turned to the droid again.

"Who'se in charge around here anyway?"

"Just trying to help, or do you require a manager?" the droid says.

"Yes, I'd like a meeting with your manager. Is that possible?"

“Just have a seat and I can get them,” the droid says and retreats inside. Minutes later a tall green skinned yellow skinned twi’lek male comes out and says, “I hope there isn’t a problem but if there is, I am sure we can solve it.”

Of course it's a twi'lek. It's all twi'leks here.

"That depends," she said, casually taking the darksaber's hilt in her hand with no attempt to hide the fact. "On who you work for, and how loyal you are to her."

"I don't think I understand, is that... a lightsaber?" he says looking at it with confusion.

"It is," she said, a bit surprised by the lackluster response.

"Now, I know this place is a front. Maybe you're just the regular type of front. Or maybe you're a front operating on behalf of the one I'm after. Do you understand what I'm saying?"

"Well we paid our protection money," he says with a cock of his head. "You're going to have to be more specific, I think."

"Magpie," she said, "name ring a bell?"

She notices one of the twi'lek patrons trying to listen with more interest than is healthy. He is a slim handsome gentleman in stylish black and purple clothing with stitched leather shoes and a smile that says roguish charm.

Assuming there was naught but a confused look on the manager's face, she turned around to face the black and purple clad twi'lek instead.

"You," she stated, darksaber still in hand though as yet not on. "I think *you* know what I'm talking about. Don't you?"

"I think so and look we are just information brokers, we don't have any part of your... war," the twi'lek says in Huttese.

"It's fine if you don't," she said in basic; though she clearly understood Huttese. "Assuming you want to keep it that way and tell me what I need to know."

He gestures for Layne to follow and says, "Sure thing beautiful, ask away and I will try and be helpful."

She narrowed her eyes slightly and followed along, though she kept her weapon at the ready.

"Magpie, what do you know of her and her operations?"

"Not much, we just supply information from time to time, we get paid and we give out information. We work for the highest bidder," he responds.

"In this case the highest bid is your life," she answered. "I am tasked with cleaning out one of Magpie's cells operating in this district. But for all I know right now, you're lying to me and you're part of the cell. If you catch my meaning."

There was a slight pause. "Though, I suppose that even if you don't get paid for helping me, there's plenty of ways to profit off of what I'm going to do if you steer me the right way."
