Sylvain looked out the window of Shaisha's apartment building that night with a strange lingering feeling on his mind. Unable to kick the restlessness himself, he elected to go out on a walk. He walked about the streets of Uptown near Dango's pleasure barge as something inside him drew him to the spot...

He could sense something big was about to happen. He didn't know what, or how, or why... but something was about to happen.

"I've got a bad feeling about this..." He whispered to himself as he glanced out over the barge.

It is chaos on the barge as bodies are strewn about many killed by blaster fire but some... some are done by lightsaber and then the sounds of lightsaber on lightsaber draw his attention. On the bridge of the pleasure barge Magpie is dueling with Darth Baras while Imperial soldiers battle with the Crescent Shadow terrorists...

OOC: Players will have to choose one of the following.

  • Side with Darth Baras: Siding with Baras will preserve stability in the Empire and strengthen the hand of Darth Baras, this will preserve the peace talks and allow Darth Baras to be elevated to a higher position in the Imperial Hierarchy, the Peace Talks will continue through Day 11.
  • Side with Magpie: Siding with Magpie will greatly destabilize the Empire, there will be infighting and the Dark Council will tear itself apart. She will crash the Barge into the Republic Compound and the Peace Talks will end on Day 10. But the galaxy gains a powerful agent dedicated to defeating the Emperor, information she will provide to both sides... but the war will continue. Sylvain will earn a high position in the Empire due to his mother's influence, behind the scenes as she takes advantage of the chaos.
  • Choose Neither: Magpie and Baras duel and the barge crashes into the compound, the Galaxy loses a major enemy of the Emperor and the Empire is destabilized. The Republic fares well in the short term but the Empire becomes much more erratic and harder to counter... Talks fall apart and everyone is expelled at the end of Day 10.

They were not sent here to piss off the hutts. He did not know all that was going on with Baras, and got the understanding that he was bad news from Shaisha. But a Darth requested help against terrorists that have been attacking the peace talks and events surrounding it. It seemed obvious to him that choosing the side of the Empire, even if helping someone who might be less than on the up and up, was the right choice. Baras could always be killed later after all.

Once he arrives however, he sees Sylvain, his old compatriot who he fought beside on Yavin. He approaches him and asks him what the situation is, and offers his support.

OOC: Voting with Sylvain.

Layne shared a sense similar to that of Sylvain. The Force had brought her here... to see something through? To see it end? To *make* it end? That remained to be seen. Always in motion, the future was. Always uncertain. Like her own heart.

OOC: Voting Neither

Asra stands with Sylvain. He'd asked her to be there today and lo and behold, look what was happening. It was a tough decision. She was SIS, and had to choose which of the two forces at play would ultimately work the best for the Republic and her superiors. She was only 22, and she already felt too old for this. Working on limited information, and knowing how many contingencies the man had in place, she looked toward Baras. This might be one of the few chances to eliminate him and move forward with pushing Sylvain up the ladder. It had been her plan for early on, after all.

She looked toward Sylvain, waiting to find out if they were on the same page.

Everything deep down, wrapped up and locked away with her true self, hoped for Zanebry's success elsewhere.

Sylvain stepped forward and looked at the group each one slowly, "This is a crucial moment in the history of the Empire... Baras has betrayed the Empire, killed the Minister of War during this conflict and deliberately undermined our efforts across the galaxy in a plot to kill all the members of the Dark Council. He has allowed himself to be lured into a trap by a former apprentice of his... and exposed himself in a way that will not become readily available any time soon. This will cause tumult in the Empire... of that there is no doubt, but the Empire has been forged in adversity. And traitors to its cause will meet their end when the Force wills it. I sense that the force has gathered each of us for this moment right now... to bring justice back to the Empire and remove an illness at its heart which threatens to destroy it to its very core. The Empire is forged through adversity, we must do what must be done."

He then turned to Layne, "I do not know what he has told you to make you think he is invincible... But look at this situation, I doubt it's the one he painted in your mind. If you wish to be free of him... now is the time."

"We've fought together before, I'll fight with you again. No matter what happens, the Empire will grow stronger in the fallout. That is what the Sith do," he replies to Sylvain.

He draws his mismatched pair of sabers and lights them up.

Making her way through the chaos of the barge she met up with Sylvain and the others. Of course he was here. That was only natural. That's how the Force worked, after all. Out of consideration, she listened to his little speech while the battle raged just beyond this point.

"I don't think he's invincible at all," she said once he'd completed his little speech. "In fact I nearly took him out myself just the other day."

She took out the darksaber and turned it on; as if she were emphasizing the words coming out her mouth.

"But that doesn't mean I want to help your mother either. To start with, she's just as much a traitor to your empire as Baras is. But more importantly, I just don't like either of them."

He chuckled, "I know it's foolish to ask... but trust me with the Magpie... I assure you no one is exempt from the justice of the Empire. You will not be her, or my, or anyone's slave past this day if we are successful. That is the choice you must make. You wanted the chance to defeat Baras... here is your chance."

"I will do whatever I want to do, Sylvain."

She wasn't going to let him have the satisfaction of thinking he convinced her of anything.

Asra rested the gun on her shoulder. Oh, the irony. "You know I'm behind you," she said simply, readying the weapon. He didn't need any of her reasoning to know that. He'd been there for at least a minor part of it. Her expression was made of ice as she was already scanning the battlefield for the best position.

For some reason, Rumun was there. The force acts in strange ways.

'' This action will send the Empire into chaos, Lord Torsin...'' He said with a serious tone while watching Baras fighting Magpie. '' Are you sure that this action will create a stronger empire? The hutts will not be pleased by this...'' Rumun said his thoughts.

Rumun was not particulary close to Sylvain, but he was closer to him than to Darth Baras.

''Oh, well. Whatever...'' He sighs as he ignited his crossguard lightsaber. '' I suppose my master didn't wanted peace in the first place. '' Darth Hoshi's apprentice said.

OOC: Magpie it is, the players have six rounds to defeat Baras and the Imperials they are loyal to him and will not bettay him. Fight to the Death.

If not defeated before round 7 the barge crashes with everyone on board this is pretty much death... suffer 10 wounds no soak with a critical injury at +50 plus any injuries sustained.

Players can flee before round 7 by taking two maneuvers in a single round to escape. Each round a team of specialists will try and commandeer the ship and stop it from crashing. If they are successful two rounds in a row the gambit fails and all who sided with Magpie are executed.

Roll Cool for Initiative, good luck.

Asra gets ready, breaking to find a spot with a good view of the barge. Hopefully she'd be able to take out a couple of people at once like the other day... Baras she didn't expect to be so easy.

Darth Baras parries a strike from Magpie and then skillfully cuts her down and kicks her aside and then turns to the Imperial contingent and scowls, "You would betray the Empire and damn everything we have achieved... there is only one end for traitors. Death."

"You disappoint me Sylvain... but like useless mother, I should have expected a useless son. And Layne... you truly think I showed my true skill... so be it." The Imperials gain the upper hand and eradicate the terrorists and take up firing positions around the bridge. Another Sith stands by an Imperial slicer working on the ship controls.

Baras commands, "Kill these traitors."

OOC: Darth Baras (Nemesis), Imperial Fixer (Rival), 2 Squads of Imperial Troops (Minions, 4 each); Darth Baras has Adversary 3 and Defense 3, Imperial Fixer has Adversary 1, and Imperial Troopers have cover and are at Medium range on both sides of the bridge, Imperial Fixer is at Long Range by the controls. Imperial Fixer has cover.
