This was probably going to go horribly wrong. She'd trigger some alarm. She'd get shot at by droids. Then hutt security. Then Xevious would yell at her or something. It was that kind of day, after all.
But fuck it, let's see where this goes.
She inserted the key into the apartment's front door...

That was a good sign at least. Hopefully that also meant she hadn't triggered any detection protocols on any droids or such. As best and quietly as she could, she tried to find the painting the Jawa had talked about.

Layne trips over a foot rest and causes a ruckus of sound that culminates with an ominous click of the lights. She hears someone say, “I don’t care who that is, kill them and dispose of the trash.”

“Silence fool, you are only alive because I need you alive,” a feminine but electriconically modulated voice hisses.
Then an armored figure steps out of the darkness of the kitchen into the light of the large spacious living room. Outside the skyline of Nar Shaddaa gives a beautiful view as the figure says, “The Sword of Baras… this should be interesting.”
In a flash two lightsabers fly into her hands from her hip, one is a fiery yellow ad the other a blood crimson shade. She hisses, “Baras has sent you to die.”
OOC: Magpie and then Layne, Despair used for this scene now you have something worse than a security guard. Layne can begin with a lightsaber in hand. Magpie has Adversary 3, she uses a Maneuver for Guarded stance for an additional setback and she activates Sense with her action. If attacking Magpie she upgrades the difficulty a total of 5 times and has two setback dice due to Defense and Guarded Stance.

Well shit.
The darksaber switched on, and Layne too adopted a guarded stance. Rather than attack, Layne focused her energies to call upon the force, to strengthen her body and muscles. A deep breath, closed eyes for just a moment, and then she stared straight at the... thing.
"Not what I was expecting," she said... hoping that maybe this wouldn't go straight into combat. "You are?"
((assuming that last post was Magpie's turn, and this is layne's?))
1 maneuvre for guarded stance. 1 action to enhance brawn with the force. 1 incidental to speak. Layne has melee defense 2 until the end of her next turn
should be at full health, 3 strain (1 from previous scenes, 2 from initiative), soak is 5

“Not going to go for the throat little Sword,” she says with her electronic voice.
“I suppose Baras has had to downgrade his killing duties to you,” she says slowly circling Layne.
“I could kill you in an instant… I surely want to, but maybe you wish to survive?” the woman asks.
OOC: Combat delayed, but initiative remains, Committed powers stay committed.

No openings. Layne knew a superior opponent when she saw one. Yet if it came to blows, she'd be ready. As magpie circled her, Layne circled around in the opposite direction.
"Maybe you could. Maybe you couldn't. But I'm listening."
Keeping guarded stance up, also forgot mention fearsome, simple check for when she moves into engaged

Which wasn't a lie, even though apparently she also needed the data. But Baras hadn't directly told her about that.

Vosk runs into the living room, “Wait… oh… my.”

She considered, in a brief and suicidal moment, to leap out that window too. But thought better of it when she saw vosk instead...

Layne stuck the saber deep into his gut... then sliced sideways in anger before doing a quick 180 and walking over to the shattered window. Only few seconds would've passed, but she didn't expect to see the figure lingering near.
Assuming she didn't see any trace of her, Layne would then turn back to the apartment. Magpie had probably taken it already, but maybe she had been here for a different purpose. Maybe Vosk had kept it hidden from her. Where was that painting?

Well shit. Today just was not her day.
That said. This guy's stuff looks expensive. Maybe he had credits lying around. Or something fancy she could sell, at least. Hey, Layne was nothing if not pragmatic, and Nar Shaddaa was looking to be expensive.

Layne finds some easy goods she could fence for about seven hundred credits, stuff that should move quickly especially on Nar Shaddaa, the Jawas would probably take it off her hands quick.

She gathered it all up, a nice little haul, then decided to contact Baras via her comm; assuming she had the range for it.
