Day 1 Early Night - Ulter-ior Motives

Durasay had been to Nar Shaddaa before. He knew the respectable business was done in the Upper Districts. It's why he had opted for his old military uniform. Crisp as ever, the boots shined up to a mirror finish.

He had heard that the person who handled the more... legitimate aspects of Hutt business was a perspn who wouldn't be caught in the seedy underbelly. So, the Pantoran went to where the people with more money than sense would be.

Even in his fine uniform, the hint of his heavy blaster was barely visible beneath his long coat. He hoped to raun into this Miss Ulter. If only to represent his crew, and perhaps... see what he could do to help the events of the conference went swimmingly.

After all, if things didn't, that woild be very bad for business.

As fate would have it, Evangeline Ulter was to be found departing from the Aurum Rancor with associates in tow. She said her goodbyes and proceeded to walk along with her attendants loosely beside her.

"Miss Ulter." His voice was relaxed as he approached the woman. He had recognized her from what he had heard, and strode towards her entourage. His smile was easy, genuine, the slightest hint of mischief in his curled lips.

"My name is Durasay Mixo, of the freighter The Tortoise. I hoped to introduce myself tonight."

Evangeline peered at the stranger approaching her. She waved them off and gave him a smile, though it was easy to see she was stressed. "I've heard of the Tortoise from an associate. A mercenary crew which fought with the pirates this morning." Miss Ulter looked down at her datapad and then back to Durasay. "Was there something you needed in particular?"

Durasay seemed to feel tense as there was a slight pregnant pause between his greeting and hers. Relaxing his posture slightly, he stepped forwards. His yellow-gold eyes focused on her own different colored ones.

"I'm glad to hear our reputation has reached you. I had heard you were the woman to see to discuss the... political climate of the place. May I walk with you?" He opened up his stance indicating he'd like to join her.

"You and I both know how important this conference is. But having no pod in the race save my own business in the galaxy, I feel like I don't have a way to contribute for the benefit of private entrepreneurs such as ourselves. Perhaps, I can offer my assisstance to you, to create a good business environment."

The woman nodded and began to walk astride with him. "You have my attention. What did you have in mind? I'm sorry but I don't really know what you can offer me." She waved off one of her incessant assistants. "You are correct though. The political climate is one of my top priorities at the moment."

[Durasay Mixo]

"Well, I've been known to be quite capable in convincing people of what I need." His stride matched hers, his arms moving behind his back, hands clasprd together.

"I'm interested in doing what I can to help this conference be beneficial, for all parties, and the galaxy. If some were to gain from it, then all the better." He had noted her stressed demeanor.

"Maybe there's something I can help you with."

"You wish to be a diplomat then? I suppose that could be arranged but I must ask what you seek to gain from this. I'm not exactly looking for someone of that skill set at the moment."

She let out a sigh. "I need the Jedi and the Sith to not kill each other on the kriffing streets. That's what I need." She shook her head. "There was a damn bombing at the spaceport. I can't imagine that was an accident. And who knows what other attacks there might be."

"I have some experience in investigating, and keeping the peace." There, he saw his moment. "Through out the Outer Rim, I've been capable in acting as a lawman, nounty hunter, and guardian."

A bombing at the space port? He thought he had heard something about that, but with the excitement of the dogfight against those pirates, who could blame him foe not being on top of all the latest news.

"I'm very interested in keeping them from killing themselves, and more importantly, the innocents in the cross fire. I think our goals are in line..."

[Evangeline Ulter]

"All excellent skills yes. But you still haven't spoken on the matter of compensation." Evangeline ran a hand through her hair and then kept walking. "Although I am also curious if you have heard of the disappearances."

[Durasay Mixo]

"Disappearances?" He raised en eyebrow, turning to look at her. He had been out of the loop it seemed. Pursing his lips, he contemplated her question of compensation.

"I'm driven by a sense of morality. Honestly, if I cam simply cover the costs of docking for my crew, and perhaps humble housing, that would be fair."

"Disappearances. Several individuals whom I am familiar with have gone missing. Ordinarily I would not be concerned but there are no bodies and no trails."

She shrugged at his suggestion. "I will see what I can do. I need results first. But otherwise, that sounds fair to me."

"I will get you your results." It was said with the confidence of a man who knew that once he was set tona task, failure was not an option.

"What details can you give me? Where should I commence my investigation?"

[Evangeline Ulter]

"Then maybe I will sleep easier. As for where to begin, I am not certain. If I had an idea, I would have sent someone already. I can send you a dossier on the victims but there is no pattern which I can discern."

[Durasay Mixo]

"I'll take any information. I'll be staying aboard the Tortoise, but here is my comlink information." He presented that to her, however was most convenient.

"This will have my priority, I can assure you."

[Evangeline Ulter]

"Right." She handed over the info to an assistant to have the information all sorted out. "Now I do have some questions for you, if you don't mind. What happened up there with the pirates?"

[Durasay Mixo]

"I do not mind." He grinned widely, that sense of pride coming to the forefront. "We had pulled out of hyperspace in approach to the system, when we receiced the distress call from the Duga Hal."

He began to recount the tale of the starfighter battle, and the actions of the Tortoise, the Swamp Dog, and the Umbral Vanguard.

"We couldn't sit by as a helpless vessel was pillaged."

[Evangeline Ulter]

"I see. I wonder what could have possessed the pirates to be so daring. Thank you for defending the ship."

Evangeline adjusted her hair once more and then looked to Durasay. "I should have asked sooner. What of your background? You seem extraordinarily concerned with the proceedings of these peace negotiations, especially with the security side of things."

[Durasay Mixo]

"It was the right thing to do." He smiled slightly, taming a deep breath of the night air. His posture was one of commanding presence, a man used to leading other. Being bold when no other action would do.

"I was once a member of the Pantoran Planetary Defense forces. I'm used to dealing with pirates. But qe were also called upon to secure peace within our home sector. And I believe that these proceedings may be the very last hope for peace in the galaxy."

[Evangeline Ulter]

"So, you an honest man on Nar Shaddaa of all places? What possessed you to come here of all places?" Evangeline let out an exasperated sigh. "To be honest, I'm not sure if we'll ever see peace in the galaxy as a whole."

[Durasay Mixo]

"It's a dangerous place. I don't shy away from it. I'm here because, it's where I need to be, if that makes sense." There was a seriois undercurrent to his woeds, aa if the weight of the galaxy shifted onto his shoulders.

"We have to try. Otherwise, what kind of galaxy do we leave for future generations?"

[Evangeline Ulter]

"Where you need to be? That can mean a number of things but I won't press you on them." Evangeline looked at the other denizens of uptown with a small smile. "Make sure you know what future you are making. Nar Shaddaa has a way of corrupting everything it touches.

[Durasay Mixo]

"A future that's both profitable and peaceful, Madame Ulter." He unclasped his hands, before running a hand through his white hair. "I think I can remain uncorrupted. As long as their are downtrodden, I can strive to be a folk hero for them." His laugh came easily, casual in it's volume.

"I won't take up any more of your time. I will begin investigating the missing persons as soon as I get the data packet from you."

[Evangeline Ulter]

"I would think that you would go help those in Shadow Town then." Evangeline smirked at him. "But I can see that you need to attend to bigger picture. We all do with the current guests."

The blonde nodded. "Very well. Try not to lose too much sleep over it," she added with a weak smile.

[Durasay Mixo]

"The night is still young, I may go see what I can get up to there." He turned to face Evangeline completely, before offering a polite bow. "It's been a pleasure, Miss Ulter. If anything, I won't add to any stressors you are feeling from this event. Hopefully the rest of your evening goes swimmingly, if not allowing you an opportunity to relax." Her smile was matched by one of his own.

The Pantoran contemplated trying to put her mind at ease with the Force, but perhaps there were simply some things that just weren't proper to do. Slowly, he turned away from her, and headed off into the night.
