Snow Cherries From Ziost (D4, LM)

(Music!)

It had been a late night, so after getting ready for the day, Shaisha treated herself to a fancy breakfast at one of the more upscale places. The conversation last night with Sylvain had been... intense, and now it left her pondering where to go from here.

Waffles topped with cherries, vitamin-boosted smoothie - the meal before her was both healthy and unhealthy and overall delicious, yet she was picking at it as her mind was working hard on trying to figure out a crucial piece she might've missed.

A message is left for Shai from Vain that he has information, money first.

"Ugh... right..." she groans. He worked a lot faster than she had expected.

She transfers the 300 Credits.

This better be good, Vain.

Javagus wasn't typically the sort of person who ate breakfast, much less moved around in the morning hours, but the night before had been a bit too much fun, and now he was nursing a mild hangover.

A glimpse at his datapad had clues him in on A restaurant with greasy food, though it ended up being a bit more upscale than he had intended. He plopped down at a table near Shaisha, out in his order, and attempted a friendly smile when she glances his way.

The pureblooded sith flashes a smile in return, her fingers tapping impatiently on the table next to her datapad. "'mornin', stranger," she says along with the smile, before taking a slow gulp of her smoothie.

"Mornin'." He nods toward her datapad. "Waitin' for the other person to get around to replyin' is a pain in the ass, isn't it? Least with holograms, you can see if they're still in the room or if they wandered away in a daze."

"Heh... More like hating being left hanging in suspense," she grins. "Guess it's the text-version of dramatic pauses."

He chuckles as the server brings him a stack of sausages and a cup of black coffee. "Had a client once that had his messages rigged up to play dramatic music every time you opened 'em. Always good for a bit of a smile."

"Oh, now that's just cruel," the female sith laughs and uses her fork to stab some of the cherries on top of her waffles. "Might just have to do that myself in the future."

Figuring that she might as well make conversation as she waits. "Shaisha Vreysk."

"Javagus Khan." He raises his fingers in a small salute before taking a bite of his sausages. "Here for the peace talks, the convention, or just enjoyin' Nar Shaddaa?"

"Peace summit is the main reason, but that doesn't exclude the other ones. And yourself?"

The cherry was soon followed by a few pieces of waffle, which she found surprisingly delicious.

"Peddlin' chemical weapons," he admits. "Seemed like the peace summit would be a good place to drum up some new customers."

He takes a long sip of his coffee, winces, and glances over his shoulder at the waitress. "Bloody restaurant like this should know how to make a decent cup of coffee..."

Both comments were of interest, but it was the second one that drew a small laugh from here. "Yeah, no overpriced places like this don't know how to do that. Guess it's not trendy enough or something... I'd recommend the juices or smoothies, but you don't seem the type."

She takes a sip from her own sludge of vitamins and sacrificed fruits.

"Any luck with them new customers then?"

Javagus tries another sip, pales, and then sends it back with the server in exchange for a glass of lumpo fruit. "So far, doin' pretty well for myself. Supply is provin' to be a bigger problem than customers, which is a dambed good problem to be havin'."

He motions to her. "Would it be terribly racist of me to assume you're with the Empire? Just haven't see many Sith out and about that weren't."

"You assume correctly. My master is Darth Vowrawn, a Lord on the Dark Council. Been his apprentice for over a year now."

She looks him over with some curiosity. "Have you had many dealings with the Empire before then?"

"Personally, I haven't had the pleasure. As a company?" He shrugs. "We place a high value of the confidentiality of our business dealings. Even if we had, I wouldn't be able to share. Bad for business and all."

He spears a sausage on his fork and gestures towards her with it. "Always lookin' for new clients, though. Quality chemicals at competitive prices, that's our motto."

Vain sends back a message:

Julo Vas, trandoshan thug works for Black Sun on the side.

"Can't say I've ever been in the need for that kind of stuff apart from the occassional stimpack," as she leans back in her seat, the datapad beeps once discretely for the new message.

It seems to be satisfactory news.

Anything else I should know about this Trandoshan and his operation?

Vain responds:

Going to assume he is armed and dangerous. Typical trandoshan behavior, good luck.

"Somethin' for you to pass on down the line, then."

If he's upset by the lack of interest, he certainly doesn't seem to show it. His juice finally arrives, and it seems to be much more agreeable than the coffee.

Her deft fingers tap away at the pad again.

Thanks.

"I just might. Figure our soldiers are more interested in such things than the Sith, but you never know. Though I assume they're not without their drawbacks?"

He waggles his hand. "Most of your over-the-counter combat stims, they're going to mess you up pretty bad, most of the time. If you're workin' with stims that are calibrated for your race, though, then you're much better off. Only real issue is addiction, and most people are more'n happy for their grunts to be addicted to victory."

"And if they're likely to die before the addiction becomes a problem, then they've made themselves a little more useful before their end," she says, her shoulder shrugging casually as if they were talking about last night's game of HuttBall.

"It's an interesting thought, but one that doesn't have much need in my near future."

"Cause you don't do much fightin', or cause you're just that good at it?"

He grins as he finishes off the last of his sausage. "I'm guessin' it's probably more toward the latter there, eh?"

"Like to think I'm quite proficient at it," the woman grins, thinking back to all the murder and mayhem she got to throw out yesterday.

"Ever seen a tuk'ata? Big vicious beasts, easily twice the size of a man. Killed one of the biggest of them on Korriban. They called it Death's Shadow - about five times bigger than a regular tuk'ata."
