(D1 EA) Another Big Break - Group II

[Nekoinu]

Aris N'ventas has checked out a private area of the cantina for this meeting. At the foot of the entrance stands two bodyguards, two brutish Trandoshans without a sense of humor. Their job is to check for weapons and anything else potentially compromising, such as communication devices and other electronics. It is common etiquette to hand over at least one weapon while a hold-out is generally okay, meaning you will not be able to come in without handing a blaster or lightsaber over.

Bringing electronics in is technically fine but Aris is known for employing a EMP charges to kill any potential wiretaps. Any comlink or recording device will be disabled for the duration. However, nothing will be permanently damaged.

GM's Note: This segment is generally free roleplay but I may call for a few rolls based on the situation.

[Nudimsu]

It had been a interesting morning for him, to say the least. An unexpected hold up to make his way down here, but not unwelcome. Always important to show off to your clients what it is you are capable of, and of course, nothing beats a chance to show it off right before you even enter the area.

He couldn't say whether or not the Trandoshans at the entrance were merely trying to be professional in their duty or if they their race was always so brutish, as his experience with them was relatively small. Either way, he handed his X-30 as a sign of good faith. Not like he couldn't easily retrieve it, if things went south. He could only hope it didn't have to reach the point where he would have to attempt to kill everyone. Not that he was confident in his abilities to do so, but it would be a display worth seeing.

He did a smile, as it was taught to him to do to show pleasantries, which may have looked more like a annoyed scowl to those unacquainted with his species and awaited his entrance.

[Aris N'ventas]

Aris perked his brow at the apparent scowl. "What, bad morning? Whatever, uh, can I get you a drink or something?"

[Nudimsu]

"Not as much. Had some issues with pirates that I had to end up dealing with this morning on the way in. I'm alive, so I suppose I shouldn't complain so much." He again attempts a smile at him in a somewhat equal effect as before.

"I suppose it would not be too much to ask for some tea, if you have it. If not, water will do."

[Nekoinu]

"Uh, I can see if they have any tea." He waved to one of the guards to go fetch the Chiss' request. Aris then stared at the man and then smirked. "You know, you're less gregarious than the other lot. But that's not really that bad. I'm not hiring you for that."

[Nudimsu]

His eyes glanced at him, turning to a curious look. "Have you never met my kind before? I don't ask as I've taken offense, of course; we do not travel out here often."

"Most of your kind enjoy to spend their time on the nicities, as do many other species out here. They talk, socialize, and dance around a issue. Chat about things that you probably don't care about. I could tell you some small quip about the weather, if you want. Maybe a joke or a comment of the political situation forming here, but from a Chiss perspective that would be a insult to you."

His red eyes continue staring into him, not changing his emotions a single beat.

"I am greatful and I respect your time spent here to interview me to see if I am right for the job as much as I hope you can respect my time spent here as well. Nicities will only delay what we both have come here to do."

[Aris N'ventas]

"Can't say I've worked closely with a Chiss before, no. But thanks for the lesson." Aris put a smile back on his face and took a small sip from his glass. "I'd love to get started but you seem to be the only one who has arrived. Are you representing a crew then? I don't think is one man job."

[Nudimsu]

"I am, yes. My other crew is out doing other things at the moment, like playing Huttball or something, and I wanted to see what the job was to contact them on it before we come to a decision." He smiles. "I assure you, we have someone a bit more up on social nicities than I am, in case you actually require that. Quite the handed communicator and leader. I also bring with us a Mandalorian."

He pauses. "We have some others, but they were delayed in their travels. I can only hope they arrive here tomorrow to assist with this job, should we accept it.."

[Aris N'ventas]

Aris let out a sigh. "Not exactly what I had in mind. Alright, this is what I want from you right now: a full profile on all of them you're talking about. Full, psychological profile? Whatever works best for you."

[Nudimsu]

He looks over to him, wondering if the tea would ever arrive. It may be awhile for that; it didn't look like this was the establishment for such things. "I'll tell you who I can assure can be here at this time, which is the three of us. As it does me no good to sell on you on something which I cannot guarantee, as many things can happen on travels here, as you well know."

What was taking them so long, anyways...

"When the others arrive, I will personally assure you that I will have each reach out and contact you to talk with them immediately so they can personally interview them. No second hand knowledge. As I said before, I don't want your time wasted."

There is a long pause, giving his circumstances of each of the crew members that were here. So let me start with Craw Toboga. He's a Mandalorian. He's a alcoholic, first and foremost. If he were here, he would have ordered whatever your cheapest beer was. After that, while you speaking, he would occasionally drink from his beer, listening intently, because the man is a professional as well. I have met few Mandalorians on my travels, so I would assume that all of them act aloof and boorish, but if there is a man you want dead or protected, there is no one else I could possibly recommend than him. He treats the job and the clients with the respect they deserves, which is why I tolerate him."

He could probably go on and on about his problems, but throwing in a singular personal flaw would be best. "Now, for the other one I can guarantee is Durasay Mixo. He's a do-gooder, for the most part, but not like those Republic people who claim high morality. He cares about the crew, treats us like family. Very full of himself. He doesn't like to see innocents hurt. If he wanted to, he could also talk a rampaging Wookie down. I've can't even think of a time off the top where he actually needed to fire his gun. Also a very natural leader; gives very thoughtful combat and tactical analysis and also serves as my co-pilot on our ship."

He nods. "Is that enough or do you need more information?"

[Aris N'ventas]

Eventually, the guard brought back a cup of water. Aris simply shrugged.

"That sounds fair to me. You know, before, an associate of mine recommended that I hire out your crew. I see no reason to distrust her now." The slicer leaned back and shrugged. "Tell me about the other crew you had in mind. I'm guessing you don't know them as well but I'd like to hear your input. You seem like a good man to ask in general."

[Craw Toboga]

Craw wandered in, he eyed the Trandoshans wearily through his helmet as he approached the area.
"Any weapons? Well, uh, me, obviously. I do have my blaster and a vibro-machete too." He slung the blaster carbine over his shoulder, and handed it to one of the trandoshans. "Keep good care of her, if there's anything different with it when I get it back, you'll wish I shot you right here. I'm keeping the machete." He said as he forced his way past the two. He sat next to Nudie, leaning back in the chair and eyeing Aris. "Hey, Craw's the name, violence is the game. I'm sure my friend here has told you all about me. Of course he could never do my awesomeness justice with mere words."

[Nudimsu]

There was a rare break in character as Craw strolled into the interview; it was a look of shock. "Don't you have a Huttball game or something?" The look came not as a look of him not wanting to be here, it was that he did not expect his arrival.

"Well then, I suppose that saves us some time." His eyes begin to calm down as he continues. "Our Droid doctor is someone I bought on the cheap some time ago. Follows orders well enough, also good to have to patch you up in a fight. As for our mechanic..." He shrugs. "Bit aloof, but smart and good at what she does. Dependable enough to do what I need her to do."

[Aris N'ventas]

Aris covered his lips with his palm as he stared at Craw. He then looked back to Nudimsu, made sure to lock eye contact, before shaking his head in disappointment. "Alright. Welcome, Craw Toboga. We were just discussing the crew of the Tortoise." He shrugged. "Alright, standard fare, I need to make sure of your backgrounds. Do you have any connection to any corporations? Prior employment is included in there but doesn't necessarily have to mean much nowadays."

[Craw Toboga]

Craw waves his hand dismissively. "Naw, that's later. Though I'm getting a bit antsy, I need to vent this frustration from being cooked up in a ship for so long."
He looked at Aris, and in a voice that made it evident that he was grinning, said: "Worked for a few in the past, minor corps though. Mostly just enforcement jobs, watch a payload for a set amount of time, make sure the courier makes it to the destination alive, that sort of stuff." He scratched the back of his head. "Hey any chance I could get a drink? Something strong maybe, cheap works, as long as it burns."

[Nudimsu]

His red eyes meet back, somewhat annoyed at Craw. "Yes.." he pauses, glancing over at Craw. "Officially... I have not. I have worked for a few others, but mostly as a pilot. All under the table for payment, of course. I'm not a man who likes his name to be out there. It means low name recognition, of course, but it also gives me the anonymity I prefer."

He smiles again, amused by the thought of it. "Though being a Chiss already comes with a sort of facial recognition. Red eyes, blue skin. Hard not to spot us in a crowd." He nods. "As for my only official employment, I suppose if you could call it that, I was part of the Ascendency for a short while after I became of age as part of the Prirnu Phalanax, if that means anything to you. However, as I was not involved with the Empire's dealings with the Chiss, there will be no record of me out in this part of space. In fact, unless your operation has anything to do with the Ascendancy, my role within them should not come up at all."

[Aris N'ventas]

Aris nodded along to their explanations. "Alright, alright, sounds pretty standard to me. I would have been more concerned if you hadn't worked for any of them. And yeah, of course. One of you, go get Craw a drink. And I can't imagine past ties with Chiss Ascendancy getting in the way here." The slicer peered at both of them one more time as a form of assessment. "Do you have any reservations surrounding Czerka?"

[Durasay Mixo]

"My only reservation would be if they prevented us from getting paid." The Pantoran entered, having handed over his heavy blaster to the guards, opting to keep the Vibrosword aboard the ship. His voice was calm, if not relaxing in it's own metered tone. He moved with a certain grace, his yellow-gold eyes examining the cantina.

"My apologies, I had to square away a few things before arriving. I assure you, this is not usual behavior on my part."

[Aris N'ventas]

"Ah, welcome. Your Chiss friend gave you a solid recommendation." Aris leaned back and looked Durasay over. "But yeah, so, do you have any problem with working against Czerka?"

[Nudimsu]

"So long as we're not slaughtering innocents left and right, or anything so extreme, I could be convinced to work for or against everyone."

He does give him a look. "Not that I am so easily swayed by money to break a contract. Reputation is important in these matters. A few hundred or a thousand credits more does not buy ones reputation back."

Which does beg the question who mentioned him and his crew as a recommendation.

[Craw Toboga]

Craw nodded to what Nudie said. "Yeah, don't got reservations for working for or against anyone, as long as the cred's good. And once I sign a contract with you, I ain't breaking it. And neither is my crew. I swear that on my honour." He says the last part completely seriously, without a hint of humour in his voice.

[Aris N'ventas]

"Who do you think I am?" He shook his head. "No slaughter, man. This shouldn't even require killing if it goes smoothly. Of course, these things rarely do."

[Durasay Mixo]

"I'm sure I can help us avoid any unwanted entanglements." Durasay walked to the bar of the cantina, grabbing a mug of caff. "Czerka let you know what they're concerned about as threats? Or did they just say it was above your paygrade?"

[Aris N'ventas]

Aris perked his brow. "I'm stealing their data. Your job is to accompany one of my supporting slicers to make sure the run goes smoothly."

[Nudimsu]

"Well then, sounds simple enough. Just keep a simple babysitting job. Are we providing transportation for the children as well?" He nods, affirming the intention of the gig.
