I Want My Money Back! [ME6]

The Red Wraith was back to the sabacc table! Ogled with suspicion after being caught cheating yesterday, she was under extra scrutiny. Still, she retained her cool and played by the book, without flaw. No hidden assistants. No marked cards. No dirty tricks she could be caught on. Still, she won unquestionably, big style.

She simply made the effort to channel the Dark Side to read the minds of other players.

Lord Haydriss walked into the establishment and looked around. She caught notice of another masked woman and went straight towards her. "You must be the Red Wraith. I am Lord Haydriss." She gave a curt nod. "You have been associating with Lord Ralnorrei. Where is she?" Although her tone was an attempt at being polite, she clearly was not pleased at the moment.

"Greetings, my lord." Moyr replied coolly, being on guard around this one. "I parted with Lord Ralnorrei well before evening. I am not aware of her current whereabouts."

"Where was she last?" the Sith Lord inquired. She took a breath and folded her hands behind her back. "What were you two doing?"

"Three. With Lord Deathwright. We were casually hanging out in Shadow Town. Uptown is not hip anymore." Moyr put a hand on her thigh.

"Lord Zeno Deathwright," the woman mused. She remained silent, staring at the other mask. "That align with my knowledge of her." A pause. "'Casually hanging out' is what amuses her."

"I believe she invited us both over because she has some sentiment about her own time in the Academy." Moyr mused, staring back but keeping attention to the arms. "There was a bit of reminiscing going that direction."

"The Academy," Haydriss repeated. She took another breath. "She expressed interest in your affairs to me before. She was surprised that you had been relegated to an insignificant Lord and yet had not slain him yet."

"A Sith without secrets and puzzles to confound and misdirect her enemies is not a Sith, my lord." Moyr chuckled. "If lordship comes too early, it comes without many trappings befitting a Sith Lord. I'd hate to be one in name only. That brings more risks than rewards. In a sense, Lord Zeno is in such a place now, elevated by circumstance rather than as a sign of real power, his martial capabilities notwithstanding."

"Lord Ralnorrei earned her position in mere months. Are you suggesting that her ascension was too soon as well?"

"Every Sith is entitled to their own path, so you'd have to ask her about her thoughts on the matter. I do believe she said something about her advances not being as fast as she would like when we first met." Moyr replied without backing down. "I have my right to draw lessons for myself from the experiences of others."

Lord Haydriss stared at the twi'lek in front of her. She then simply sighed and then pulled up her datapad. She typed in a message and looked back at Moyr. "To be Sith elicits many privileges," she stated plainly.

"Eventually. Freedom to do as we please is at the end of the Code. Skipping steps might end poorly. Those who accomplish victories by strength alone and do not consolidate power might quickly lose the fruits of what they've accomplished. Those who do not confirm their power with victories are doomed to be constantly distracted by chancy fools from pursuing their great agendas. And so on. Truly, the Code holds most fundamental answers for a Sith." Moyr replied, speaking contemplatively rather than lecturing.

"You are quite the philosopher," the Lord mused. She looked back at her datapad and took another breath. "Unless you had another matter to discuss with me, I shall depart and continue searching for her."

"It was a pleasure to meet you in person, my lord." Moyr kept her demeanour. Yes, she was becoming a philosopher. Maybe a theologian. But it was the way of the Sith, to universalise the truth they carried in their heart and mind, and Moyr was glad to see this early on.

There was another wandering the floor's trying to put together a bit more money. He'd need it in the coming days, for at least a few different reasons. Z hadn't wandered close to the table with the two Sith though, the slightly haggard gambler making his winnings in a different game tonight.

Lord Haydriss gave another nod. "Until next time," she stated and then spun about to exit the premises with much haste.

Moyr sighed. It went better than she had initially expected. Making a cursory sweep across the casino with her gaze she spotted another interesting appearance. She didn't visibly react though, just ordered herself a drink with a straw. Something colourful, not whiskey on the rocks.

It was a few moments before Z made his way over, having finally noticed the empty seat at the Sabbac table. "Mind if join you?" He asked as he approached the feminine figure in cloak and good. Moyr might note a slight pallid to his skin, and a little less vibrancy in his voice. To many others such things would go unnoticed though.

"Please." Her voice was altered by tone, mask and modulation. "I have already won though, the house won't let me play again tonight." She took note of the changes. "Besides, you look tired."

"They won't let you play for stakes, but most places will let you play for fun." He smiled. "Well as long as your drinking and tipping the dealer." Taking a seat, he put in a order of his own.

He smirked. "I am a tad tired, but that's nothing new. Just had s couple long days. I'm Z by the way."

"Then call me R, if we go by abbreviations." She leaned back and clicked her tongue. Her voice was relaxed though. "So why would you like to play with me, Z? Because it's a challenge?"

"A pleasure to make your acquaintance R." He offered back with a smile, picking up his drink to take a sip as it arrived.

"Perhaps, though I'd have to know more about you to completely commit to that. I'd say it's more because I don't get much practice playing against people in masks."

"It might be giving me an unfair advantage but then, I am not too committed to fairness. Neither should you be overly concerned since it provides you an opportunity to acquire practice you don't have."

He shrugged. "If I was worried about fairness I wouldn't be in a gambling den in Nar Shaddaa R."

"And anyways, your mask might not be the only thing that gives you an advantage."
