That which is past is prologue (Day 1, LA)

A quick hop down to Nal Hutta and Jo'ren emerged from Jigunna space port to enter Nem'ro's palace. It was somewhat gaudy in places, but the cantina was bustling and he decided to begin by buying a drink and getting the lay of the land. Was there a board perhaps, or job postings? He wanted to see what he could find out, whether there was some way of making himself useful, before bothering the Hutt himself. Maybe someone here had loose lips?

The nikto bartender says in Huttese, "What's your poison, red skin?"

With a grin he replied: "Whatevers good and on tap pal." He looked around at the clientele before returning his attention to the bartender.

"Any chance Nem'ro has a jobs and bounties board on the go here? Or does he prefer to keep things personal?"

"Depends on what skills you bring to the table, always something need doing around here," the bartender replies.

He pours a brownish purple beer and says, "Looks like your lucky day, someone is paying for your drink." He nods to a Mandalorian in armor sitting at a table by herself.

As he took in a breath to reply that he had plenty of skills to bring to any table the bartender's follow up caught him short and he stopped. "Well that's the kind of thing that can make a man's day. Good to know about the job situation, I'd better go thank my new friend."

He raised the glass in one hand, slipped the bartender a 5 credit tip, and began to walk towards the lone Mandalorian. He only knew one Mando, but what were the chances that of all the cantinas in all the galaxy it would be her?

"Thank you kindly. Guess you don't mind if I join you?". He gave a comradely smile and took a seat at her table, raising the glass to her.

She simply nods at his request.

He took a sip of the beer. It didn't seem to be poisoned. He checked her armour to see if it was red and black before continuing.

"So, you've got my attention. What would you like to talk about?"

She removes her red and black helmet that matched the rest of her suit and says, “You’re looking for work, I need a partner. Not sure what would bring a Sith here to Jiguuna but I will take it.”

"I think that's a good enough Reason."

Jo'ren laughed and took a swig of the beer. "Of all the cantinas in all the galaxy I had to walk into yours? Nice to see you again Reasons. Alright, you're on. That last job we did worked out nicely for me. So what have you got?"

“I am looking for sponsorship from Nem’ro, the best way to do that is to hit an enemy where it hurts. There’s a bounty that has long gone unclaimed, the coward lives in his rival’s palace. We are going to get this scum and drag them back here,” she says.

"Alright sounds straightforward for a pair of professionals like us. Funnily enough I'm looking for something from Nem'ro too so this sounds like a good opportunity."

He sipped his beer thoughtfully. For all Malak's protestations this was a bit of a ridiculous coincidence.

"Tell me more about this cowardly scum, and your plan for getting into that other palace."

Reasons nods and says, “Used to do bounty work for Nem’ro until Fa’athra paid him off on a hit job. He took the money and has been living inside that palace ever since, think he does internal security. He knows he is as good as dead if he ever leaves.”

“Huun, a chiss, we sneak in quick and quiet… and… well I am still figuring out how we actually get inside.”

"I see. So Nem'ro would love to get his hands on this guy. Hmm, maybe he has enemies in Fa'athra's organisation? Might be worth checking out. Or perhaps there are secret access points to the palace?". He patted his saber. "Or ways of making an entrance if we can find the right starting point."

“I can do more research now that I have a serious and reliable partner,” she says confidently. “You know I saw another Sith pass through her earlier, looks like he had business with Nem’ro. Not saying you all know each other but Sith ain’t common in these parts.”

"Alright, you know it, and that sounds good to me. Call me when you need to talk about anything. Maybe I can dig a few things up too." He gave her his comm channel just in case she needed it. "Oh yeah, another Sith? Well, if I don't know him now I might soon I guess. What did this Sith look like?"

She says, "He was red skinned like you but more human like? Much angrier, seems like he was expected."

"Hmm, sounds like Zeno. Interesting. Thanks for the tip. Say, what do you need the sponsorship for? If you don't mind my asking?"

He took another draught of the beer and studied her, realising he hadn't seen her face before.

“Steady pay, access to more resources. It’s a good gig, you get the choice bounties from Nem’ro and a steady paycheck, it’s win-win as along as I can impress him enough to think I am worth the investment,” she says.

He raised the drink. "Then let's get you that sponsorship. Okay, go figure out a plan and call me. I'll see if I can find anything myself."

She takes the drink and then puts on her helmet and says, "I'll be in touch."

"Good to see you Reasons, thanks for the drink." He raised the glass and wondered what he'd got himself into. Seemed like fun however it all turned out.
