Crime and Politics - Day 0 (Aboard the Night Saber)

[Ashla Vyliis]

"The name doesn't give it away? My father is Ruvrass Vyliis, the serial killer. So, unless the Republic faked his execution, he's definitely dead." There's a bit of sadness in Ashla's eyes before she turns back to her casual, cynical self. "My mother.... I dunno. I just assumed my father killed her."

[Adrianaa Morindel]

"I learned long ago to never assume anything from a name. It is an infinite universe, there are probably Morindels that arent related to me, so I didnt think Ruvrass was to you."

She frowns slightly and gives an appologetic nod.

"I'm sorry.'

[Ashla Vyliis]

Ashla shrugs. "I mean, I understand. It was him or a bunch of other people. So, do you speak Huttese?"

[Adrianaa Morindel]

Adrianaa shakes her head and taps the communicator looped around her ear.

"No, only Basic. Luckily for me universal translators are a thing. Though it probably is a bit of a crutch. Not sure what I'd do without it."

"And what about you? Any other languages?"

[Ashla Vyliis]

"I learned Huttese. It made things easier my time here. Oh. A little of my native tongue that my father taught me, but only the very basics."

[Adrianaa Morindel]

"I see."

Adrianaa takes a few more bites and then leans back, lacing her fingers behind her head in relaxation.

"So have you been to this moon before?"

[Ashla Vyliis]

"Yeah. After Corsucant became too hot for me, I fled here. Bought a ship. Missed the part about me becoming a slave." Ashla shrugs. "Is this your first time here?

[Adrianaa Morindel]

"Ah, thats right. I'm sorry, I read so mamy briefings sometimes it all gets a bit jumbled. And no, Ive been here many times over the last two years since I was elected. Officially as 'weekend retreats' but almost always to deal with one organization or the other."

Adrianaa kicks her feet up and leans back a bit more, wiggling to get comfortable.

"I prefer to deal with The Black Sun over anyone else. Hutts are sometimes too stuck in their neutrality."

[Ashla Vyliis]

"Generally, I prefer the monster you know. It rarely gets better and can always get worse. But if you know them, I'll trust your judgment."

[Adrianaa Morindel]

"I've worked with them for over 6 years. It first started in the military. There was a world under blockade and seige by the Sith. We needed supplies and none of our official channels could get anything through."

Adrianaa lowers her feet and sits upright as she tells her story.

"I was a captain at the time. A middle ranking officer. I knew there were a lot of people counting on me to get them supplies."

"So, after a week of failures, I turned to the underworld. It happened to be the Black Sun. They ran smuggling operations for me for nearly 6 months and essentially saved the planet."

"But, they are still dangerous. Give them a chance and they'll cut your throat for a few credits. "

[Ashla Vyliis]

Ashla nods. "Are they made up of a certain race like the Hutts?"

[Adrianaa Morindel]

Adrianaa shakes her head.

"Nope, the Suns are a mix of all different races. Equal opprotinity criminals"

She lets out a chuckle and smiles

[Ashla Vyliis]

Ashla smiles sardonically. "Ahhh... Such enlightenment." After a short laugh at her own joke, she gets serious (well, seriousish). "Is there anything I should know in particular about them?"

[Adrianaa Morindel]

"The leader here is named Ras Urdo. Ex soldier and bounty hunter. Cybernetically enhanced. Reasonable enough and easy to deal with. "

Adrianaa frowns

"They do deal in slaves occasionally. Just remember that we never will."

[Ashla Vyliis]

Ashla shrugs. "I don't care. Kidaja had me run slaves before. I'm not one of those 'I got my freedom now I must get everyone free' people. The galaxy is an awful place." And that's all there really is to it. Space is black. Water is wet. And people suffer horribly for no reason and that will never stop.

Ashla takes another bite. "I mean, I wouldn't do such thing because, you know, Jedi. And while I'm sure I have some leeway in my duties to serving you and the Republic, there's only so much slack before the leash becomes a noose. But I have no personal qualm against it if you're worried about my past. That's all I'm saying."

[Adrianaa Morindel]

Adrianaa looks curiously at the woman and thinks silently to herself.

After a long moment she asks on a normal tone

"What about assassinations?"

[Ashla Vyliis]

Ashla shrugs. "Like I said, I don't care. I mean, growing up with my dad, do you think murder is a big deal to me? Though ultimately, if I take part in it will likely depend on who siding the error of caution. I see my trip here as a test of the serial killer's daughter against the Jedi padawan. If I fail, it won't merely losing a chance to become a Jedi Knight. They'll either execute before I 'fall to the Dark Side' or lock me up for the rest of my life. Failure is not an option for me."

[Adrianaa Morindel]

"That is a grim outlook it seems. So I know yoie boundaries, but not your skillset. I was told you have a leaning towards medical skills?"

[Ashla Vyliis]

"Would you have it any other way? I don't imagine that if you thought I would be a threat to the Republic, you would hesitate to kill me." Ashla takes a bite. "Not that I blame you. Or even the Jedi. Just don't tell them that. The last thing I want them to think is that I find them reasonable."

Ashla takes a drink. "My skillset. I had a small medical practice on Corsucant before that asshole Jedi cost me everything. I also have some piloting skill, even if I'm not as good as Fredtry. I can use my lightsaber decently for a padawan. I know a little about computers. Otherwise, I tend have skills similar to any other kid who grew up in the slums of Corsucant or Nar Shadda."

[Adrianaa Morindel]

Adrianaa nods.

"Can you do data breaking? Slice encrypted files? Make it look like someone else did it?"

[Ashla Vyliis]

"Possibly. I am capable of it, but I'm not an expert or anything. It really depends on the system."

[Adrianaa Morindel]

"For what I have in mind, some will be Republic systems, mostly government instead of military. Then of course the many pirate and criminal networks. Gaining access to records, rosters, letters...and possibly even altering some of them..it would be quite a skill to have in house. Normally I source people for it."

[Ashla Vyliis]

Ashla cocks an eyebrow. Republic government? How shady is this Senator? Ashla herself didn't care too much. But she was a little surprised.

[Adrianaa Morindel]

Adrianaa just smiles at the raised eyebrow and takes a few bites.

"I might try and catch a nap before we get in. "

[Ashla Vyliis]

Ashla nods. "That sounds good. I have some reading to do."
