Nar Shaddaa

The bridge of the Starcross was quiet as the young Hutt lounged at the Navigation station watching the stars pass by the windows. Hyperspace was his favorite part of being a pilot, the quiet serenity, knowing you were the only thing in this universe for a brief time. Then the coming uncertainty of what you might find on the other side when you came out.

The bridge lights were turned low, he glanced at the comm officer's seat and knew that if his daughter showed she would complain about how gloomy it was, just as he knew his XO , glancing at the weapons officer seat, came on watch she would complain about the temperature. It was not his fault other races liked to live at such freezing conditions. How could you properly feel motivated to move if water couldn't boil on the deck plates? Barbarians! The last chair of course remained empty as well, the pilots seat technically. Any of the four consoles could control the ship, the primary pilot controls were actually the ones used least often, as they were only used if one of the three regular bridge crew were not controlling the ship.

The Hutt looked over his hyper space messages, reviewed the one from his aunt and sent her a ETA on thier return to the smugglers moon from acting as taxi service for republic social workers. It seemed there would be a welcoming party of Imperial and Republic ambassadors when they arrived. Wouldn't that be great. Maybe they'd get lucky and find he forgot to carry a one and end up off couse when they came out. Maybe they'd end up inside a black hole. One could dream....

Partway through the Hutt's checkups, the holocommunicator began to beep. Once answered, a woman would appear on the other side. "Hey Xierreau," the blonde said, her voice a bit rushed. She waved away one of her secretaries and looked back to her associate. "Sorry about that, and sorry about the lack of pleasantries. I have a lot on my mind with the incoming delegations."

Evangeline let out a heavy sigh. "How did the job go? I mean, I assume it went well but you know me; I always like to hear the details."

The Hutt smiles "Evangeline, good to see you, as always" he crooks an eyebrow "The job went super easy, this was one of your pie slithers I think. We picked up the Republic social worker and her equipment and even have you ...agricultural items... In the cargo hold. We should be there in two days at the outside. Just enough time to add this little blue Twi'lek jedi farmer to your powder keg. Any idea what her deal is? Does she think praying to her force will make plants grow?" he shakes his head.

"Good to see you too," she said with a weary smile. "And good to hear that the job went smoothly. I suppose I should inform you that people have been going missing. People go missing on this moon all the time but it is starting to concern me." She took a breath. "I am making sure to not take anything for granted."

She shrugged. "I try not to concern myself with what Jedi think."

He cocks his head to the side "Are these important people? Is there a theme? Is some slave trader poaching again? Do we think this is a threat to the profits from this " he air quotes "peace conference" he sighs and shakes his head. "Sorry I don't mean to bombard you with questions your obviously already asking. Speaking of questions I take it you saw the little side action that got wagered on the next Huttball game with the bounty hunters guild?"

"I wouldn't bring it up if they weren't important. People get poached by slavers all the time, after all." She massaged her forehead. "If I figure out what's happening I'll let you know. Just stay safe alright?"

She paused. "You mean that bounty to break that player's legs?" she asked plainly.

He nods "Yep, I don't know that I am going to enjoy that becoming a regular trend" he chuckles "Though I can't think of any rule that forbids it"

The woman paused and then nodded. "I would prefer it to not become a regular thing either. I'll have to pull some strings if it starts becoming a regular trend, as you put it." She crossed her arms and then smirked. "Do you think these newcomers will give the game a shot?"

"My Cargo Master has been following a Hypernet discussion about organizing an amateur team during the peace talks. She asked permission to participate, I said yes, as long as her duties weren't affected. So it appears there will be at least one. " he sighs " I have reservations but I have to remember she isn't twelve anymore. If she gets injured in play thats one thing and her own fault, but if her playing starts drawing contracts on my ship, well I know how I would react and thats not good for the game if we have mass reactions like that."

He smiles " Perhaps we can catch a game together when I get in if your not too busy"

"You've always been so protective, not that that's a bad thing." Evangeline then nodded. "That might be possible. We're both busy with the peace negotiations coming here. But if my schedules opens up, I'll let you know."

"If there is anyway I can help make you less busy, just let me know. I'll be looking into a few things when we get in but I'll be sure to leave some time open if you have errands."

"You have contacts with both parties, correct? I need to make sure that the peace is maintained, among all the other kriffing things on my plate." She took a breath. "Malto Brin is not going to make this easy. No matter what I tell him, he always has a chip on his kriffing shoulder."

"I am sure the security chief will fanatically enforce all the laws of Nar Shaddah, Even if that means placing republic diplomats in slave collars within the first week and executing Sith apprentices in the streets. " he sighs "I will do my best to keep this powder keg from exploding butyou know as well as I, we are riding a tylium shipment in a active plasma storm with just who is on the guest list."

"You asked how you could help," she said with a shrug. "You could try encouraging our more volatile guests to get off the damn moon and pursue artifacts or credits, whatever they could possibly kriffing want." Evangeline whistled and shortly received a mug shortly afterward. "Thanks. Anyways, I hear Aris has a new big scheme. I wouldn't trust him but the money is good."

"I'll do what I can to convince the saber heads to take the violence outside." he nods " and I will see if Aris's job is worth it" he chuckles "Oshi can usually get a decent deal out of his type"

"Good. I'm doing all that I can to distract them." She shook her head. "Jedi and Sith in the same room. I don't know what they're thinking."

She let out a sigh. "Anything else to report?"

"Nothing else special, I think I have a half dozen old clients that have recently texted me about being in system, including a Sith who wants to go sight seeing on Nal Hutta of all things"

"I would be wary of that Sith's motives then. They might be looking for something on the planet, be it a mark or whatever else." She shook her head. "Like I needed more problems."

"It's Deathwright so I am sure his motives are as pure as the new fallen snow after a reactor core breach ....."

"I'm sure you can handle him. Anyways, I ought to get back to work unless there was something else you needed." She took a sip from her cup and let out a sigh. "Damn I needed this.'

"No seeing your lovely face has already made my day, go and prepare for the coming invasion and I will see you soon"

"Right. Safe travels, Xierreau. Evangeline out." And with that, the communication ceased...
