Nar Shaddaa

Baesal gave a gaping yawn to the mystery plant she was spraying with water in order to keep it fresh.

''Well...you were unexpected but I'm taking a liking to you'' she said to it

Looking at the hour, she estimated it was a decent moment to call her mentor

“Baesal, good afternoon,” Master Xen says with a pleasant smile of sharpened teeth.

“It’s a little bright here on Tattooine, but I like the peace and quiet. Almost to Nar Shaddaa?” he asks.

''Good afternoon to you as well master Xen'' the student said with a light bow

''You are correct, Nar Shaddaa is getting so close I can begin to smell it''

“Well it should be quite the experience and a chance for you to reconnect with those you have left behind. I can already sense your excitement and attachment,” he says with a nod.

“I won’t chide you for it; we all have to learn our own path. I am concerned, though I am concerned with all young Jedi. Attachment and its dangers are often the hardest lesson to learn for any of us.”

Her Master adds, “Nar Shaddaa is an interesting place, from what I recall. Never a dull trip, which can be good or bad.”

Baes felt like a child caught with a hand in the dark chocolate chip cookie jar

''Deception is not my intent Master Xen...'' she says apologetically

''But I still think that a life without attachements is not a life at all...you just need to realise them for what they are''

"Then what is your intent?" he asks inquisitively.

"I think you approach the idea attachment differently than I do. I value the people in my life, but I also know that there is a moment where that value can cloud my judgment. I would miss you if you were no longer here, but I would not force my will to make you stay."

''My intent? My intent is to live, learn and grow from the experience.''

She frowned a little

''I know well that I can be used, I am not naive....but cutting myself off will do more harm then good.''

"You cannot take responsibility for the actions of another especially a Sith. You act for you, if you feel this is the path you must walk then do so. The path of the Jedi is not easy, the benefits are actually few but it is worthwhile. Ask yourself this, why did you leave the life of the Sith behind? It is a choice you made, what drove you? More importantly why do they cling to it?" Master Xen asks.

"I know we have discussed it before, but it is always worth remembering."

''I left because I saw where it leads. The path of the Sith and that of the dark side only brings self-destruction in the end.''

She gave a sigh

''And I remembered the alternative...I had not yet forgotten my life in the Republic even if they tried hard.'' she smirked ''Attachment brought me back, in a way"

She looked more thougthful

''As for the others...my hypothesis lie mostly in brainwashing and social conditionning. Many are monsters but others are not yet so...but they have to become one to survive and hatred for the Jedi and the Republic is ingrained in all aspect of imperial life.''

"I want to believe the Force guides you to change that, to be an example that may give them doubt in their chosen paths," he says honestly.

"I cannot know for certain though."

''Certain are too long gone...but I would not associate with them anyhow'' she said thinking of Zeno and Zash

''I am not big on faith though, I'd rather understand what the Force wants and why it wants it before agreeing to anything.''

"So you believe that redemption is impossible for some?" he asks as he shields his eyes.

''I do not know, but I don't think words like 'redemption' helps'' she replies

''Up to a certain point they will face the consequences of their choices like we all do''

"What troubles you then, Baes," he asks.

She scratched the top of her head

''I am unsure...I ahve the impression that something will come up on Nar Shaddaa''

"I expect a great many things will happen on Nar Shaddaa, is there something specific or is this a general foreboding?" he asks.

"For all it's criminal charm, Nar Shaddaa has played a role in the actions of many force sensitives. Revan and the Exile of years past both spent much time there."

"Well...There will be that Hazzan business to deal with."

She bit her lower lip

"I hope we can find something that is not all Dark Side and stuff"

"What do your feelings tell you?" Master Xen asks.

"I'm...not sure that feelings can be relied on."

She pauses

"But I am sure many Sith Will try to fuck up the treaty"

"I don't limit it to just the Sith, peace is not an easy concept on either side so be mindful Baes. Be the example others can follow," Master Xen says.

She passed a hand on her lekku, looking down.

"I can try...but I'm better with machines and computers​"

"And that impedes you how?" He asks.

''Machine are less annoying...most of the time'' with a *thump* her forehead encoutered her desk

''Urgh, I'm gonna suck at this''

"You just have to do what is right, if that is difficult then so be it, but it takes no special skills to do the right thing," Master Xen responds.

''Better relating with organics should help though'' she took a long breath

''Well I'll try...say...'' a change of subject occured to her ''Did you know what that potted plant does?''
