[D2 - MM] The Nanny

[Rumun Gol]

First thing in the morning, Rumun goes directly to the VIP part of the Imperial compound. He tells a servant to announce to Fildon Vil, Darth Xevious' son, that he is to see him.

Hopefully he already knows that he is to be his new babysitter.

The door opens and inside it is a clean looking Sith apartment. It looks empty though he can hear a conversation coming from the bedroom. A droid is preparing kaff but does not seem bothered by the Sith.

Rumun waits, for now. He looked around and tried to understand what type of sith is Fildon Vil. In general, one can discover what type of the personality someone has by just looking at the general arrangement of his room.

The apartment is impeccable and it looks like it has been rearranged for the best aesthetic appeal. There is no other personalization though and it seems a bit austere. There is a Datapad on the counter that has basic information on various Sith at the summit.

But Rumun accidentally knocks over a crystalline vase which smashes on the floor. He can hear Xevious son come walking down the hall muttering, “Stupid droid!”

He pauses when he sees Rumun and says, “Who are you?”

'' Lord Vil '' He bows, his face is neutral ignoring the fact that he broke the crystalline vase. '' Rumun Gol, Darth Hoshi's apprentice. I'm here at Darth Xevious request.'' He said, neutral tone.

'' I'm deeply sorry about the vase '' Again neutral but truthful tone.

[Dapper Dog]

“Eh, my father picked it out, it can be replaced. Are you the big Sith my father wants me to shadow? I am surprised he chose an alien,” the human Sith replies.

“You drink kaff?”

[Rumun Gol]

'' Yes, that appears to be his request. I'm here to provide guidance and council '' Rumun replied Fildon. He did not make any comment about the alien part.

'' Sometimes, I do'' He replied to his second question.

[Dapper Dog]

“Well who am I to resist the will of my father, you can’t fight the Dark Council right? Well Rumun, I am sure you are ready to teach me something. Please don’t keep me in suspense, how does father wish for me to improve now?” Fildon replies sarcastically.

[Rumun Gol]

Rumun is calm. '' Darth Xevious did not say in what particular area. He said that I should guide you and offer wisdom in whatever way necessary. So I suppose, that means helping you in whatever area where you are lacking focus in which I have more insight and training.'' He explained. '' I heard that you are a sith with great potential and skill in combat, so in that area I don't think I can help you because it is not my educational focus. ''

'' So, how can I help you?'' He asked in neutral tone. Also he wanted to know what kind of man he was.

[Dapper Dog]

“Father is grooming me to take his seat, no doubt. I suppose I should learn to play politics and use my words. Rather tedious if you ask me. What exactly you do?” he asks in return.

[Rumun Gol]

Rumun nods to Fildon, acknowledging the fact that probably Darth Xevious wants that his son develop his charisma and leadership skills.

'' Mostly research in the esoteric arts of the Darkside and the creation of ties and contacts between galactic conglomerates, banks , investors and the underworld to fuel Darth Hoshi's imperial campaign in the Outer Rim'' He explained.

“And how is that working for you, you like living in the shadows talking people to death?” he counters.

[Rumun Gol]

Rumun chuckles '' Well, I'm merely an apprentice so I'm still learning about many things. I have many weaknesses that must be purged in order for me to attain my 'real' desire...Living in the shadows is just one step towards my goal'' Then Rumun recites the code with a serious expression.

'' So there must be a purpose in your life, right? Something that you want. The passion that drives you, step by step, to achieve your desires and finally free you from your limits. To achieve your top potential.''

'' I suppose there are many ways to achieve this end, but sooner or later if you lack something in one area of expertise then you will not be able to continue climbing the ladder.''

'' For example: why do think the Dark Councilors have allies and minions if ,we Sith, barely trust each other? Or dedicate themselves deeply to the study of the darkside ? Because they recognize their limit to their power. This is not about trust, nor physical strength, this is about staying alive. What does it matter if you are the greatest swordsman in the universe, when your enemy can hire complete armies to annihilate you? What can you do with a lightsaber against the destruction of your mind and body with merely flick of a finger?''

'' All of the greatest Dark Lords have been great charismatic leaders with knowledge about the darkside, other sciences, and with great fighting skills. Freddon Nadd, Naga Sadow, Exar Kun, Darth Traya, etc. You cannot be a complete and wise leader if you not embrace the complete set of skills.''

a pause to analize Fildon.

'' You have gifts that most sith don't have, a family name to create contacts and to navigate through the Sith Order, and great potential in combats skills, as I understand. Perhaps you have other potential skills that you don't even know. But that is not enough, it is never enough. One must always be driven to more power, more knowledge, at least that's what I believe. That's how I interpret the code '' He finally said.

'' Well, unless if you are not interested in those things...'' Rumun shrugs.

[Dapper Dog]

That got Fildon's attention as he says, "Wow... yeah okay, I am listening. You lead and I follow."

[Rumun Gol]

'' No, no, no...'' Rumun shakes his head. '' I'm not here to lead you anywhere. I'm here to guide you and give you council...''

'' Since I'm still an apprentice and not yet -earned- the right to be called ' master' or even 'lord', you are the one that must lead yourself to your own path, to your own desires. I'm here to help you attain what -you- want and see that the path that you choose improve your chances to attain real power. '' Rumun says in a neutral tone.

Then Rumun changed the subject.

'' You still don't have a true master, right?'' The duro asked.

"My father basically, I guess," Fildon says sipping kaff.

[Rumun Gol]

'' As I understand, Darth Xevious has many apprentices?''

'' I believe that having too many apprentices is not a very good option. '' He shrugs '' It causes power division instead of concentration, it would be better only having one apprentice. But that's a radical notion and Darth Xevious is a Dark Councillor and you are his son. He is probably giving you more attention than he gives to the other apprentices.''

'' In any case, do you have any inquiries about my person or about any other topic?'' He asked politely.

[Dapper Dog]

"Why only one apprentice?" he asks.

[Rumun Gol]

'' There's the risk of apprentices joining up to defeat the master. It has happened before. But as they defeat their master in a group, they don't inherit the full power or knowledge of the former master. Individually they are weak. ''

'' Then they fight each other for abslute power and in the end one eventually inherits the place of the master, but this new Sith Lord is weaker than the original master.''

'' Otherwise, if one is the only apprentice, then he has full attention of the master. When the inevitable happens and he must face his destiny and challenge his master and succesfully replace him, then he will be as stronger or at least equal in power. There's no power dilution in the process'' He explained

'' Like I said before, this is a radical notion but it has some logic. Could it be applied to the Empire? Perhaps. '' He said.

"That is a pretty simplistic view of power. There is no guarantee with a single apprentice they are more powerful than their master just because there is one. I am not wholly convinced," he says.

'' If he is weaker than the master, then he will die. Simple as that. I concur with you that it is a very simplistic way to see power, after all there are many variables that could influence the final showdown between an apprentice and his master.''

'' In theory it sounds fine, can it be applied? I'm not so sure...'' He shrugs.

'' Do you have more inquiries?'' He asked.

"Father says that it is not always the strongest that wins, sometimes being the most clever or prepared can win the war," he says.

[Rumun Gol]

'' Preparedness and cunning. Intelligence, willpower and wisdom. These are traits that can make you stronger than your opponent. ''
