[D3 MM] Visiting the Cole Mines

[Cole Ormont]

"You don't approve?" his expression becomes entirely guarded again.

[Alysele Cortess]

She was silent for a moment. "It is a noble pursuit, but I am wondering whether it is the appropriate one, considering our goals here."

[Cole Ormont]

"With all due respect, ma'am, an hour or two out of my day doesn't seem unreasonable. Yesterday I spent two hours at the clinic, treating the unfortunate and providing mentorship to a young Jedi at the same time. I followed this up with a game of huttball, before meeting you for the initial talks with Vara Tam. I wonder, out of those three things, which you would consider the greatest waste of my time?"

[Alysele Cortess]

Aly listened silently, still sitting. "Well... I would not say the talks were a waste exactly..." just... almost.

"Though I appreciate what you are doing." More or less.

"Perhaps there is some good we can do here, but we mustn't lose sight of what ourreal goal is here."

[Cole Ormont]

"No ma'am," Cole agreed, "but even if I can't put so much as a dent in the number of people in need, after two hours of clinic work, I still feel like I've accomplished more than I did spending two hours swanning around drinking with fancy people, or two hours arguing with an Imperial over the definition of the word military."

[Alysele Cortess]

"I can certainly understand that. It didn't feel like we didn't accomplish much." She glanced warily at him. "But we are not Sith to be ruled by our feelings." Her voice was tight as she talked about this, and monotone. It seems that this is something she heard a few times over already.

"As appealing as that sounds sometimes."

[Cole Ormont]

"Ruled? Perhaps not. But I hope you still have some room for compassion, and satisfaction in a job well done." His expression remained attentive and polite, Jedi and their extremes, I never did understand their philosophy.
