[D3 LM] Eggs, Bacon, and Sith

[Sylvain Torsin]

He smiled, "I think I can relate to that type of an existence quite well. A great number of our citizens are members of our military. Our non-Sith political entity is actually a military organization. My father, as I mentioned, was a life long military man who raised me and my sister in a very militaristic fashion."

[Niall Organa]

Niall's lips twitched. "A good reminder that we all bleed the same, as appropriate to our species." He sighed. "But just as I felt the differences before were not individually enough for war, this probably is not enough for lasting peace."

He looked at Sylvain, his eyes curious. "How old were you when your... I'm not sure what to call it. Your gift? Your aptitude with the Force was discovered?"

[Sylvain Torsin]

"Quite young actually. Probably 4 or 5 years old. My adopted sister began manifesting abilities at the same time, and by chance it was discovered I possessed them to despite not having the same type of Sith lineage she had."

Or so I thought...

"Father and mother still raised me to the only kind of life they knew how. They provided tutors and admission into the academy on Korriban, but what they taught me was very much in line with our military."

[Niall Organa]

Niall nodded, his expression politely interested as the Sith spoke. "Mmm. As it happens, I was not raised in a military style. I was trained to lead, certainly, but not with such a martial focus. That came later. My particular choice of career is a bit of an odd one on Alderaan, although certainly not unheard of."

[Sylvain Torsin]

He nods, "Especially in these special times. Men like you are certainly in high demand."

[Niall Organa]

Niall's lips twitched, and he sighed. "Yes. And that means that I have a responsibility." He looked at Sylvain. "Do the Sith see things that same way?"

[Sylvain Torsin]

Sylvain tilted his head, "Perhaps... but I would know better if I knew the type of responsibility you are referring to."

[Niall Organa]

"Hmmm." Niall frowned a moment, his grey eyes narrowing thoughtfully. "On Alderaan, we strive for equality. And in many areas, we achieve it. And yet, there's still no denying that some are more equal than others. House Organa has a great deal of political influence and wealth. While my path hasn't been an easy one, I can't deny that it was made easier by these things."

He straightened a little. "And I have gifts as well. Perhaps not as compared to your Force ability, but intelligence, leadership, drive. All of these things have been honed by my training, but they were always a part of me."

He smiled, just a little. "So if I am high, it is only because others have raised me there. If my gifts have prospered, it is only because others have allowed them to flourish. That is my responsibility. To pay back Alderaan and the Republic for what I have been given."

[Sylvain Torsin]

Sylvain nodded, "A very noble gesture, and that is not a comment on your status."

[Niall Organa]

That actually got a very brief chuckle out of Niall. "That's not the first joke I've heard from a Sith. But it is the nicest one." Niall inclined his head briefly.

He sat back in his chair. "But seriously. How do you see things, Lord Sylvain? If you would share your ideas on such things, I should like to hear them."

[Sylvain Torsin]

He smiled, "As it turns out, sometimes even murderous fiends laugh. And not in a maniacal madman way either."

He then thought for a moment, "I suppose I see it somewhat similarly. I was born into wealth and potential power... but my father raised me to be frugal, prudent, and always consider the needs of the many over my own. I utilize my power to create a better and more ordered society for all. I am no greater, or no less than any other. My utility is what makes me worthy of the position I bear. If I cease to be useful, I am disposable... or at least should be moved somewhere that I can contribute more to the Empire."

[Niall Organa]

"No doubt you're saving your evil laugh for when you pour salt on my eggs." Niall said.

"Well, there." He spread his hands. "Now why can't that be a point of commonality?" He continued a moment later. "I suppose because of the maniacal madmen on your side, and the hopelessly corrupt on mine." He sighed, then gave Sylvain just a bit of a smile. "Perhaps we can have them go off to some planet and fight?"

[Sylvain Torsin]

"Ideally. Though they often are the types who don't want to listen to the people with brains." He said with a smirk.

[Niall Organa]

Niall's lips twitched again. "And speaking of shared experiences." He said, chuckling softly again.

"Well... I rather hope you're not entirely correct." Niall said, leaning back. "I would much prefer a lasting peace to a temporary one. What good is it to break, only to clash with even more force a few years from now?"

[Sylvain Torsin]

"What good? There is plenty of 'good' depending on how you look at that term." Sylvain replied.

"Sometimes peace can be the worst possible thing. Look at this planet for example... no major war... but it has bred such inequality and deviousness. There are times when a forest fire is what is needed to help the woods regrow stronger and more beautifully."

[Niall Organa]

"This place certainly could use some cleaning up." Niall said dryly. His lips twisted. "I don't know. There's something I find distasteful about a doomed peace. It's like calling half-time during a game of grav-ball, only with people dying."

He sighed, deeper than before. "Perhaps it is time for a break. It's been going on since before we were born. I just wish I didn't expect that it will be our legacy to the next generation as well."

[Sylvain Torsin]

"You have a child your concerned about back home?" He asked in a kind tone.

[Niall Organa]

Niall smiled at that. "Well, not exactly. I have yo... I have a younger brother." The smile faded.

"But actually, I was thinking of any children that I might have someday. Although that's something I haven't really thought about seriously, I'll admit. A military career does not leave much time for a personal life."

[Sylvain Torsin]

Sylvain nods, "Time must be allotted for such things."

[Niall Organa]

Niall hesitated a moment, then nodded. "Yes. I mean... well, yes."

He cleared his throat. "Is it similar with the Sith?"

[Sylvain Torsin]

"It is. We do not refuse attachments like the Jedi."

[Niall Organa]

Niall pursed his lips. It was several moments before he spoke again.

"In any case," He said, clearing his throat again. "I would rather create a lasting peace, for just that reason. Otherwise, yes, I would be greatly concerned. Frankly, it's difficulty to imagine." Frowning, he took a sip of water.

[Sylvain Torsin]

"I don't know how I'd raise a boy during peace frankly." He chuckled.

"I have absolutely no reference! And the woman I'd consider doing it with is even more military than me." He smiled. "We'd probably both be at a loss."

He chuckled, "Fortunately for me she hates my guts right now, so that future is still a ways away."

[Niall Organa]

Niall's eyebrows went up ever so slightly. "I'm sure you'd be able to figure it out." He said dryly.

One eyebrow went even higher at the final statement. It sounded as though the Sith was having... girl problems? "Oh?" He said, a little uncertainly.

[Sylvain Torsin]

He chuckled, "Even evil monsters have heart problems."
