Well I mean yeah for normal people and normal jobs that's fine.

Considering the civil services employ about a fifth of the population, I reckon that's a pretty normal job.

Civil service would be a good option to pay off fines/serve time for non-violent convicted criminals. I could see the republic offering to allow non-violent crimes be expunged from their record for long/good enough service.

I can see my profession has naught but scorn.

Oh I have no problem with letting the criminal contribute as part of their rehabilitation.

I just take offense at the suggestion they can do my job.

Yeah, there are some talents that allow you to add a Trait to a damage roll (Shien gives one for Brawn to damage, Shadow lets you add Intellect once iirc), and some mods+crystal give increased damage. But you do not normally add Brawn to damage rolls with Lightsabers (I believe you do so with normal Brawling weapons, though?).
Lightsabers make up for this with their "haha I ignore your Armor, loser" with Breach.

Maybe I should have got disruptor weapons to smuggle instead of spice. Thats the only thing that could even come close to that damage

The first build of this character included a disruptor weapon. The second one was based on mono-edged vibro-weapons (crit 1). You can also take an auto-pistol with a sharpshooter and deadly aim on ranged:light for a relatively powerful automatic laser show.

If you want to build strictly for damage in this game, you certainly can.

I have a Trandoshan who has +70 to crit right now with a Vibro Ax, and Brawn 5. As awesome as damage builds are, I have a 1/10 to insta kill absolutely anybody, and that's without all of my Lethal Blows from Marauder being taken so far. If you build into crit, it gets pretty ridiculous. One crit and it's 1/5. One more, it's close to 1/3. And Vibro Ax crits are cheap(ish), especially when you're throwing 3-5 proficiency dice.

Let's just say a combination of mods and attachments will get you there. Especially if you start with a fancier crystal or mod the Hell out of an ilum crystal.
