An Inquiry about Drone Policy [EA7]

[Moyr Ahaya]

After a failed search for Zios' competitor Moyr found a quiet roof to make a call. She selected Hala's code and waited.

[Col. Hala Moraal]

The faint back-chatter of the Viper bleeds through her connection, as does the laugh Hala does when she's putting on a good face around people.

"Just need to take this call, put go ahead and cash me out for a bit. I'll be right back," she said, a little distantly before a few plastic chips scraped and cloth rustled against the microphone. It went dead a little bit, crackled,
beeped twice, then reconnected.

"Secure line now, Moraal speaking," she said more professionally this time.

[Moyr Ahaya]

Moyr decided not to beat about the bush.

'Colonel, I might be in need of remote submersible search equipment, or droids equipped for the same purpose. Some propulsion, audio-visual receivers in dark conditions. To your best knowledge, is it something the Ministry has made available to this section?"

[Col. Hala Moraal]

"No, but Lord Nemerosch left something behind I've repurposed to that use. One of the people back at the shop fixed them up and made them water tight, so they should do what you need."

[Moyr Ahaya]

Moyr clicked her tongue.

"Do you know how to program and operate this kind of equipment?"

[Col. Hala Moraal]

"On some level, yes. I have had a few days to adjust to it."

[Moyr Ahaya]

"Then take a trip with me to Nal Hutta. Tonight to tomorrow, depending on when the storm eases. Maybe test their settings and durability in the meantime, recharge batteries and so forth. As to why, this is not exactly for a comm call. I'll explain during the flight."

[Col. Hala Moraal]

"As you wish. Is there anything else?"

[Moyr Ahaya]

"I'd like a brief on what actually happened down there yesterday, during the wedding. May be in writing if you have a ready report."

[And unwritten, I just want an IC link to know more than the news.]

[Col. Hala Moraal]

"There was a gas attack, a lot of civilians and wedding participants were hurt. Later, there was an explosion. I was assaulted by a Republic senator, I was assaulted by Baesal, but my recording device seems to have corrupted in the most unfortunate time and no one else seemed to notice so I have no way to prove it. The full report is on file already if you wish to read it."

[Moyr Ahaya]

"I do." Moyr frowned at the news. "It looks like the talks have started to unravel as I predicted, and all it took was a spark." There was some schadenfreude in her voice. "Does your report contain the names of notable casualties, both deceased and likely to die in the next 48 hours?"

[Col. Hala Moraal]

"Only a few I heard of specifically, but most notable was the death of Kidaja the Hutt."

[Moyr Ahaya]

Moyr had heard the news, of course, but hearing it reported filled her with cruel glee.

"...I've heard. But has any of the delegates on either side or their personnel taken a lethal or near-lethal dose of sarinto?"

She said calmly. Mentioning the name of the gas was not a slip of tongue.

[Col. Hala Moraal]

"Unknown. The Republic was not forthcoming with casualty reports and most of the fighting inside was accomplished by our forces. Lord Remington, Lord Hoshin, and Sgt. Gunnar."

[Moyr Ahaya]

"I'll be more precise. I believe a Jedi padawan, a Faleen called Zuraa, could have been inside. I'd like to verify this. And if this is correct, to learn about her current condition and whereabouts, and whether she's had any residences outside of the Jedi Enclave. Do you think you could get me this information?"

[Col. Hala Moraal]

"I will do what I can"

[Moyr Ahaya]

"Good, I'll be waiting for what you can get me. That would be all for now, unless there's something on your part."

[Col. Hala Moraal]

"Not at present, signing off."

And the commlink clicked dead.
