As Ra-ight as One Can Be (D8, LM Syl's Apt)

[Sylvain Torsin]

Sylvain received a message from his operative and returned to his room. He wasn't sure what the nature of the conversation was, but he was always willing to accommodate is useful assets. He prepared some liquid refreshments and sat waiting for Asra to arrive.

When she arrived, promptly when she promised she would, she knocked and entered at his word. She had her usual demeanor, military, certainly, but the sense of constantly being stiff and tense was mostly alleviated.

"Thank you for seeing me this morning. I heard about what happened at the wedding..." She closes her eyes and shakes her head, seeming to reconsider something she was about to say. "I'm glad you both returned."

[Sylvain Torsin]

"It was a trying day... but we're both tough buzzards. Nothing a day of rest and some medical care won't fix." Sylvain replied with a smile.

"What can I help you with Asra?"

[Luth Khalan]

"You're both very strong. I hope I am nearer if something like that happens here again," she said, closing her eyes and letting out a soft breath. She settles down in a seat and looks to the side. "It's not really a thing of dire importance, but I wanted to thank you. You, Kristal, Shaisha... I've even talked to Zeno some." There was the understatement of the year. "You treat me like a person, not just an extension of my gun that you unfortunately have to deal with. That... doesn't happen very often."

It was probably more words than she'd ever said in front of him since the philosophizing incident.

[Sylvain Torsin]

He smiled and chuckled, "With you there I am sure the result would have been quite different. I trusted too much in my own abilities and didn't expect it to become a violent encounter... I'll make sure to refrain from those assumptions in the future."

He smiled again and offered her a seat. After sitting he poured some blue juice and said, "You're an efficient warrior, but also a fine person to be around. I'm always impressed on how you continue to provide reason to have greater and greater confidence in you."

He nodded , "If I can provide a better working relationship for such a fine person as yourself I am more than pleased."

He poured himself a glass and sat down, "But what brings about this outpouring of gratitude?"

"My tour will be up soon. Please take advantage of my presence while I'm here," she says, her expression becoming a bit playful. She looked down and sighed. "Actually, that's what I found myself thinking about. When it ends that isn't. I need to take a little bit of time for my own ability to function, but it'll be a lonely thing. There's not much to go back to."

[Sylvain Torsin]

"Oh? Not much waiting for you back home? Is there anything I can do to make your transition easier?" He asked with interest.

[Luth Khalan]

"Very little... No friends, family, loved ones..." She shakes her head. "I mean..." She pulls on her braid, looking up and to the side as she tries to find the words. "I'm looking forward to feeling like myself a little more, I suppose. But..."

[Sylvain Torsin]

"I've found that the bonds one forges among colleagues and fellow combatants can be the most fulfilling of all... You have friends here Asra. We can help you make a home wherever you'd like so you can become whatever you wish to become." He replied with a slight smile.

[Luth Khalan]

She nods slightly, smiling. "I appreciate it. You're not the only one who's mentioned something along those lines," she admits. "I do have friends here, I think. I want to return to you all."

"Honestly, usually people get less sensitive as they go on in this job, but for whatever reason, it's kicked up for me, especially lately. Casna doesn't experience it. I'm hoping a little time and I can shake it off."

[Sylvain Torsin]

He nodded, "It's a highly stressful position you fill and optimal efficiency in that position is usually limited to a rather short timeframe... But you aren't a one trick pony; there's plenty for you to do that will make you feel fulfilled, I'm sure of it."

He smiled, "If it's a good vacation you need to help you shift gears, I have funds to assist in setting you up."

She nods with a smile. "Thank you for seeing it that way," she said in a warm tone. "I'm probably just going to take the time I need to get things in order at home., so I don't think there's too much need. Like you said, I'm not a one trick pony, and my... upbringing leaves me uncomfortable if I'm not doing something useful."

[Sylvain Torsin]

"If you'll have me as your superior again someday I would love the opportunity to find you a place you would enjoy." He smiled.

"How long do you intend to be away? Anything I can help to help you wrap things up in an orderly fashion?" He asked. There was something in the way she talked which suggested she was being somewhat reserved.

[Luth Khalan]

"I might, but..." She looks a little embarrassed. "I'm considering multiple offers at the moment."

"No more than two or three months, I'd think. I should be all right."

[Sylvain Torsin]

He smiled, "What other offers are there? I'm sure I'd like to have a chance to outbid them if possible."

[Luth Khalan]

"Zeno is trying to convince me to come with him as a partner. He's working a lot harder than I would expect for something like that." She considers. "I considered trying to build a life on my own. It's a lonely prospect, but I could form new connections."

[Sylvain Torsin]

"A partner? I didn't take Zeno as one to have 'partners' that aren't romantic ones." He said.

[Luth Khalan]

She shrugs in response. "I believe you. Those are the choices as they stand, though."

[Sylvain Torsin]

He smiled softly, "There are worse options. I personally feel I'm the best and can help you build those new connections you're looking for. But your path is your own, I trust you enough to make the choice that will be best."

[Luth Khalan]

"I'm aware of some of the worse options," she says with a soft chuckle, shaking her head. "What makes you feel that way? That you're the best for something like this?" She'd heard her own reasoning, and Zeno's, and her past and present colleagues'. She was curious about his.

[Sylvain Torsin]

"With me the possibilities are far more vast. I run a diversified collection of operatives whose duties range vastly. Zeno is an adventurous man, better to go out and hunt wild beasts with or have a good roll in the hay with perhaps. I don't wish to deride the man because I respect him, but he has murdered his compatriots before, and is prone to outbursts of rage."

He paused, "He is a member of the old Sith Empire. With me there will always be professionalism. I merely ask for results, but the types and forms of service are far more diverse. I have skills that allow me to open doors others can't. I reward loyalty and return it in kind, I am a military man by heart. I let my calculations and rationality dictate my behavior. I feel I am part of the vanguard of a new and better Sith Empire... one that pulls in the self-destructive tendencies of the Sith and replaces it with a commitment to duty and loyalty."

She nodded as she listened, the idea appealing to the somewhat detached strategist side of herself. The one who had argued with Matthias for installing Sylvain and his friends into leadership positions. It was certainly true she supported them. She stepped back from herself mentally a little. "I would like to see the Empire become more... sustainable. It needs an outside enemy right now," she notes. "I have high hopes for you and some of your friends in that regard, admittedly."

[Sylvain Torsin]

He nodded and smiled, "Perhaps our day is not yet here... but we are continually building towards a day when we will be ready to lead the Empire to greater sustainability. Adding people like yourself to our vision is crucial for not only the Empire, but the galaxy at large. It is through solidarity that we can combat the more self-destructive elements in the Empire, and bring greater order to the galaxy. If you'd have me as your leader, I'd be more than honored to put you to good use in something you could really put your whole heart and soul into."

She watches him as she listens, weighing his words. "I suppose that brings me to my other question - what do I bring to the table for you? What are 'people like me' who are that important?"

[Sylvain Torsin]

He took a sip of the juice, "You are a thorough woman. Quiet, but dedicated and resolute in accomplishing your desires. You are a tenacious and resourceful woman, but also have a mind for efficiency and self-control. Your methods help to save lives and reduce wasteful killing or excessive displays of violence. You can be hard, and you can be soft. Your flexibility and candor are valuable assets in and of themselves, but the quality of your character is the greater asset."
