Cole was barely able to conceal his disgust. Doubt flickered in his mind for a moment, a war between his drive to save the fading life in front of him and the suspicion that, if this life was supposed to be saved, it would have been done by now. It was a battle that raged for half a heartbeat, Cole was clear on what he needed to do.

"Get him out of the tank. I'm opening his head again."

She nods to the wookiee who gets the zabrak out of the tank and onto the table... it was a clean surface at least but not a medical table.

A few days ago, he'd opened a Sith pureblood's leg on a rusted gurney that creaked every time the man breathed. Days before that, he'd hunkered on the floor to amputate a gangrenous limb from a patient lying on a cheap cot. His adaptability was becoming less of a surprise.

Kristal’s mother says, “You helped, yes. What was your mission?”

“Sylvain charged me to sacrifice my life for yours. I achieved my mission, and somehow lived to tell the tale. Is Master Torsin, alive?” he asks.

“He is,” she says bitterly.
