[Day 1 - ME] Why Can't We be Friends? - Event

"I am pleased that the would-be assassin was unsuccessful. You and Layne Hoshin are efficient apprentices."

Haydriss tilted her head again. "We are Sith, Lady Serasai. Blood feuds are common within our Empire and for a variety of reasons."

Kristal didn't bother to correct the woman, in all regards that mattered she was right. They were Sith and that change was to be expected. However, Kristal still believed first in the Empire itself rather than personal gratification. Truly believing in it's core concepts, it's goals. Peace through order.

"Sturdy, would be the proper term for that I believe Lord Haydriss," she responded with a bit of dry humor.

"Sturdy," Haydriss echoed without much humor. "My offer still remains to address any lasting injuries on your person if the necessity arises." Her mask turned to the Jedi present. "I predict you will quarrel with others on this moon. But I am sure your unyielding nature will persevere."

The woman tilted her head. "Do you have any further inquiries for me, Kristal Serasai?"

"Age does not matter, but the penalty for hiding Force sensitivity in the Empire is a crime punishable by death," she said with a casual shrug. "Children of prestigious families recieve private tutoring in the home at first before being sent to the Academy, others are thrown right in if they come from lesser social layers."

There was a subtle look in the direction of Layne Hoshin as she spoke of those coming from 'lesser' places.

"Of course, there is such a thing as being too old. If old age renders you too old to fight, well you will probably die before the first day is over on Korriban."

"Then I will attend to other matters. Farewell," she said with a curt nod before walking off.

"Hm. Death? That's interesting." Score one for dad for waiting until he was in Republic space to get caught. "Is there any particular reason behind that law?" Ashla was genuinely curious. She knew nothing about the Empire. Maybe there used to be some other Force sect. Maybe the Sith were just paranoid to have anyone but Sith with their gifts.

She gives a half glance to Layne. "Oh. Did you receive private tutoring?"

With this portion of the evening finished, she bid farewell to Haydriss and turned back to the offered food. Continuing to sample and snack while she remained till the end of the event albeit quietly in the background. Once it was finished Kristal would carefully, without too much notice or attention grabbing, make her exit.

[Shaisha Vreysk]

"A Sith is worth much more than mere mundanes. Hiding it is denying the Emperor one of the greatest assets of our Empire," she explained as a matter of fact, as if it was obvious to her.

"There was training with private tutors for a while, though I began learning our ways before I can remember, as was expected by my parents. Failure was never an option."

[Ashla Vyliis]

Ashla nods. "I see." So, the Sith really aren't free after all. Disappointing. "Oh. Do the Sith have families? I know it's not exactly illegal, but discouraged in the Jedi Order."

[Shaisha Vreysk]

"Of course," she said with a slight nod. "Many of us take great pride in our lineages, and family relations is often a strength for many. Regardless of the passions that drive you, they are a far more powerful motivator than denying their existance. For some, that can be the desire to protect family or those few considered friends."

"How you Jedi deny yourselves the strengths of your emotions and passions will always baffle me."

[Cole Ormont]

The women were talking shop, and that was what he'd intended, so Cole figured it might be time to quietly extricate himself back to the edges of the room once more.

[Ashla Vyliis]

Ashla shrugs. "I don't mind it. I always hated it before. And the thought of some parasitic worm growing inside me..." Ashla's face becomes disgusted before she shakes her head and returning to normal. "Well, personally, no pressure to have a family is one of the better parts of being a Jedi. But that's just me." Ashla shrugs. "I know others disagree. I just curious of the Sith's views." Ashla takes a drink. "I'm interested in learning more about the Sith. I hear things of course, but I think it's better to learn from the source."

"Oh. Officer Ormont, don't leave. Here. Let me get you a drink." She yells something in Huttese to a slave. The slave brings Cole a purplish drink.

Already well on his way to a hangover, Cole certainly wasn't about to turn down the offer. Besides, he was quietly filing away the details of the conversation; it wasn't relevant to him, but it was interesting.

The Jedi was proving to be far more interesting than she had expected, though she didn't care one way or another if the petty officer was trying to slip away. So the Togruta's efforts to keep him anchored amused her a little.

"Learning from a real sith is usually wiser than to listen to the wild tales of fools. The ones under my command have mentioned something about talk-rooms on the Holonet that feature a lot of... well, false bravado, for lack of a better description, about idiots who claim to be Sith Lords."

She gave a dry smirk. "Then again, the Empire has plenty of tales about the corrupt Republic and its Jedi, some probably true, though exaggerated."

[Ashla Vyliis]

"Yeah. Those sites are just a mess of idiots who are happy to act out because of anonymity. I assume it's true in the Empire as well as the Republic. Though occasionally, you can find an interesting person."

Ashla nods about the tales, ignoring the corrupt Republic comment. Not that it wasn't true. Just kinda irked her that Shaisha thought the Empire was better. Everyone is an asshole after all. "Probably. I assume both sides tend to pick the worst of the enemy's actions and traits and amplify them. It's easier to recruit people into killing your enemy's when they think the enemy is pure evil instead of, you know, people. Though I'm probably not the best to correct any Jedi tales you have heard. Like I said, I've been a Jedi for less than a year. I'm still learning things about the Order."

Judging by how this Sith seemed to engage in her conversation, it wasn't impossible that such comments like 'corrupt' Republic was to draw a reaction out of those around her. It did seem to come effortlessly to her.

"Are you familiar with Jedi Alysele then?"

[Ashla Vyliis]

Ashla thinks for a moment. "I think I might have met her in passing before."

[Remmington Thalalas]

She followed his eyes, but didn't remark on it.

"No other details sadly. It is good to know that you are uninjured." She smiled briefly. "How are you enjoying the Smuggler's Moon?"

Remmington thinks for a moment. "Well can't say that I am a fan of the oily rain. Though it seems like a pretty lively and interesting place. Hutt Ball is actually pretty fun." He is all smiles with that last part.

[Vec Gunnar]

"After more than a decade, I think I've made myself a mainstay in the military by now to worry about not having anything to do when there's peace around," he gave a casual shrug at that. "I can't say I have some farm waiting for me on some homeworld or a family missing me. I'll be still in the military, keeping things in order. Peace sounds nice but it's never finite."

There was still plenty of scuffles and skirmishes that a soldier could find an ignoble with on. They would probably have to wade through the eternity of waiting and routine before they could hope of getting to that, however.

Vec gave two nods as he was introduced to the Republic surgeon. "Well met, Officer Ormont. An aspiring doctor and a surgeon? I don't have to ask how you two met. You two have common interests?" He asked hypothetically, which was brought up later in the conversation.

When introduced to the Sith, he was a little more rigid in his introduction. They were the sort who were usually ordering them around, to be truthful. "Lady Vreysk," He said simply in return greeting.

[Alysele Cortess]

Remmington thinks for a moment. "Well can't say that I am a fan of the oily rain. Though it seems like a pretty lively and interesting place. Hutt Ball is actually pretty fun." He is all smiles with that last part.

"Oh? Hutt ball? Heard of it, but haven't played it yet." She smiled once again. "Knowing the Hutts, I assume the rules are flexible?"

Ashla thinks for a moment. "I think I might have met her in passing before."

"She seemed to express an interest in learning more of the Sith too, during this summit. Perhaps you both would want to meet at a later time, and we can speak more in-depth on the subject... as the current locale is not the best for such."

[Ashla Vyliis]

The stuck up noble has curiosity? That's odd. "That would be great. Just let me know when and where."

[Shaisha Vreysk]

The Sith nodded approvingly. "My schedule is looking full at the moment, but I will get in touch the moment I find an opening." She smirked playfully. "It is busy work being the big scary Sith I've heard those outside the Empire speak of."

Ashla chuckles. "I am sure you will live up expectations just fine."

[Layne Hoshin]

"Well, perhaps someone else can be your alternate." Niall said. "Remmington Thalas is our team organizer, if you're familiar with him."

He nodded as she gave her name. "Layne Hoshin. It's a... an event to meet you."

"An adequate Sith," she remarked as Thalas was mentioned. And when he responded to her introduction, she gave out yet another poke-and-prodding type of response.

"It always is."

Niall chuckled at that, honestly. "I expect so. You certainly made an impression even over the monitor."

"And what sort of impression have I made, Lady Layne?" He asked mostly out of curiosity for what insult she'd attempt to deliver.
