[Satele Shan]

“Are you volunteering, Alysele,” she asks of the young Jedi.

“There will always be a bigger fish, a faster enemy, a stronger foe. The strength of a Jedi is not in their lightsaber but our ability to inspire, lead, and be the example the Republic needs us to be. You will lose, it is a certainty of the universe but you can learn from that loss. If you feel you need more martial practice I think we can arrange something.”

“Once you have recovered,” she says looking at her arm.

[Alysele Cortess]

Alysele shrugged. "While I am sure my family and training makes me an optimal choice, some of the masters stepping up into the spotlight might be helpful."

She moved the arm, frowning at how stiff it was. "Very well. I'll let you know when I am feeling better Master Shan."

[Satele Shan]

"I am involved with the talks, but it does not take a Master to set the example," she replies.

[Alysele Cortess]

Wow, you are so lazy.

"What would be the example I should set, in your opinion?"

[Satele Shan]

“You just mentioned the talks, if you feel that more needs to be done in the name of peace then I welcome your ideas and efforts. This will not be solved myself and the Senator alone, it will be a group effort by all involved. Perhaps you can offer a branch of friendship to a Sith, do good works for those that suffer the most at the cruelty of the Hutts, or simply lend and ear to ally in need. No act is too small,” she says offering ideas.

[Alysele Cortess]

Alysele kept her expression stoic. "Thank you Master Shan, for your help. I believe that was all I wanted to discuss, unless there's something you would like to talk about?"

[Satele Shan]

Satele is quiet a moment and adds, "How are you handling your encounter with the warrior you faced last night. Violence is expected in the duties of a Jedi, especially here on Nar Shaddaa but I worry about all of you."

[Alysele Cortess]

"I am disappointed." Replied Alysele automatically.

"He was not a Force user, despite his training, I should have prevailed. I am not unused to violent circumstances though, Master Shan you needn't worry."

[Satele Shan]

“That gives me more concern that you are not worried. You should always consider your actions especially those taken in the heat of combat; the taking of a life even in self defense is not to be taken lightly.”

She adds, “The Force is powerful but it does not make you invincible and those without the Force are not your lesser. That path leads to arrogance and that is dangerous because it will blind you to the true potential of those around you, friend or foe.”

[Alysele Cortess]

"I do think of my actions before I do them Master Shan." Aly didn't quite huff. "Yet I can only make choices for myself, not for others. When they step onto the battlefield, when they start killing people in the name of a false god, when they are cruel and evil... I am not the one making the choices for them. I am only responsible for my choice to stop them."

She felt uncomfortable as she explained it all. "Thank you, I will take note. And see perhaps about imrpoving my expertise with the Force."

[Satele Shan]

“It is not your expertise in question, but your understanding of how the Force flows through all things. Even those not sensitive to it are still moved by it and have a place in it. The Force is powerful but even more so is the personal will to act. You are no better than the soldier fighting for his people, the baker simply trying to provide sweet rolls, or even a criminal using their talents for ill-gotten gains. We are all connected,” Satele says in that knowing tone.

“The Force flows through us all, remember that.”

[Alysele Cortess]

There was a tension in Alysele. If I am not better, what good was the last 10 years of my life? Why? Why was I taken?!

"I will take that to heart Master Shan." She replied stoically. "Thank you for your time."

[Satele Shan]

"Return to me any time, Alysele," she says warmly.
