"OK. So, being in the Navy helps you deal with the guilt of being in the Navy? You see the problem here?"

[Cole Ormont]

"Have your motivations always made sense?" Cole shrugged and ran a hand through his hair, "if it were as simple as that, then sure, I'd quit and do something else. But if I'm going to dog the Navy around the galaxy like some kind of camp follower, then why not let them pay my ride?"

[Ashla Vyliis]

With utter sincerity, "My motivations always make sense."

Ashla shrugs. "I just think you would be much happier in a place like this rather than a Naval Frigate. I mean, do you really care about the money?"

[Cole Ormont]

Cole almost laughs, raising an eyebrow. "If I wanted money, I wouldn't be in the Navy."

He looks around the shelter, the three cots for what was supposed to pass for long-term care, the Chadra-Fan had already been moved along so the bed could be given to someone else. "I don't know how long I could stay here. Right now I have the Navy's resources, it's going to take more than good will to make it work on my own." Coward.

[Ashla Vyliis]

"You'll find a way. I mean, look what I did in the slums of Corsucant. I'm sure you can get a small clinic in a needy area of the Republic or become the doctor of a small Colony."

[Cole Ormont]

He nods, because he knows she's right. But he's never done anything that wasn't forced on him: joining the Navy, becoming a doctor, he'd need a hell of a push to break out of the simplicity of just sticking with the Galactic Republic Navy.

[Ashla Vyliis]

"I think I need a 15. Mind holding down the fort for a sec?"

[Cole Ormont]

"Go ahead," he nods, paying more attention to his patient than Ashla.

Ashla goes off and checks her messages. She traces the signal.

"Shit."

She heads back to the shelter. "Hey, Cole. Just to warn you, the Hutts apparently want us to throw the next match."

[Cole Ormont]

"What? Huttball?" He had glanced up at Ashla, but the datapad in his pouch chimed, and he took it out. He snorts and runs a hand through his hair, turning the device so Ashla can see the screen: he's had the same message.

[Ashla Vyliis]

"Yeah. I... uh, traced the signal. It came from the Hutts. My guess is one of the big boys is betting a lot of money on this match. And not on us."

[Cole Ormont]

"What happens when the Valkyries win?"

[Ashla Vyliis]

"It depends on who placed the bet and how much. But I would take another soldier or two if I was you."

[Cole Ormont]

"What time has the match been slated for? Are you playing?"

[Ashla Vyliis]

"Sometimes in the early evening. I plan on playing. I.... I just need to investigate something first."

[Cole Ormont]

"During the military display?" Cole thinks for a moment, "I'll show, in case you need a sixth. Though I'm no Captain Alderaan."

"Apparently. Most of us aren't military. And we can still use you. You didn't do too bad last time."

[Cole Ormont]

Cole snorts, amused, "I honestly thought it would be a lot worse. The team seems to gel. What do you think of that Remmington fellow? He says he's interested in medicine."

[Ashla Vyliis]

"He's charming. If a bit forward. I like him. What do you think of him?"

[Cole Ormont]

"He seems to have something with the Senator. She was telling us yesterday that they've arranged a second date." He shrugged, "I was wondering if he's only a flake when he's around me, looks like it is me."

Ashla amuses herself. I wonder if he has proposed to her yet?

"Maybe you're just not his type."

[Cole Ormont]

"I think that's a forgone conclusion, if he's courting the Senator."

[Ashla Vyliis]

"Eh. You never know. I know this one guy only like people who were 5'3". Looks, sex, species, it didn't matter. As long as they were the right height. You can never know what people like until you ask."

[Cole Ormont]
