[Day 1 - ME] Why Can't We be Friends? - Event

[Remmington Thalalas]

"Oh? Hutt ball? Heard of it, but haven't played it yet." She smiled once again. "Knowing the Hutts, I assume the rules are flexible?"

Remmington nods. "Well it used to be lethal... but they changed it a little in order to keep players around to play. Though it is pretty intense. Two teams with 6 players each. A large arena stage with 3 levels. A ball in the middle. I can't kick the ball but you can carry it or pass it to your team. Getting the ball into the other team's zone scores you a point. Oh, there are traps in the arena stage like jets of fire and you are allowed to beat up your opponents." He smirks at the last part.

[Layne Hoshin]

"An adequate Sith," she remarked as Thalas was mentioned. And when he responded to her introduction, she gave out yet another poke-and-prodding type of response.

"It always is."

Niall chuckled at that, honestly. "I expect so. You certainly made an impression even over the monitor."

"And what sort of impression have I made, Lady Layne?" He asked mostly out of curiosity for what insult she'd attempt to deliver.

"Fishing for compliments from a Sith. Truly the republic has fallen."

[Niall Organa]

"I can say with absolute sincerity that I wasn't expecting a compliment." Niall said, his dryness edging on smugness. "I almost glad not to be disappointed in my expectations."

[Layne Hoshin]

If there was one thing she hated, it was smugness. Especially when coming from nobles.

"And a million voices suddenly cried out for the poor noble deprived of his daily ego-stroking."

[Niall Organa]

"Indeed. However shall I get through my day?" Niall said, still dry, less smug. Rayne hadn't been anything like Layne, of course, but nevertheless Niall found himself behaving a little similarly towards her. Perhaps it the similar ages coupled with the similar names.

He gave her a sharp look. "Still, that's an answer of sorts. The Organa part stands out much more than the Captain part, I gather. May I ask where you're from? Although I know little about most planets in the Empire."

[Layne Hoshin]

"An outer rim world you will never have heard of. Not that you would care if you had. The republic pays no attention to what happens on the rim, after all."

[Niall Organa]

"As it happens, I can say that..." Niall sighed. "Never mind. Have it your way." He stared into his glass for a moment before taking a long drink.

Lowering his glass again, he shook his head. "Well. Would you tell me anyway? Accept that I care on a personal level, at least?"

[Layne Hoshin]

"Kabaira. Not that it'll do you any good if you're just fishing for leads."

[Niall Organa]

"I wasn't." Niall said, his jaw clenching for just a moment. It relaxed quickly as he gave Layne a look, mixed amusement and irritation. "Has anyone told you that you have a gift for aggravation? My sister was the only person who could aggravate me this much in this short a time."

[Layne Hoshin]

"And yet here you remain. Letting yourself get aggravated. Perhaps the Organa family is more inbred than I was led to believe, if you can not understand cause and effect."

[Niall Organa]

Niall sighed one last time. "I suppose that's the clearest response I've gotten. I hope you have a pleasant evening." A parting nod, and he was off.

She frowned, Sith moodiness springing to the fore. The bastard's smug attempts at charm made her angry. The bastard's refusal to keep playing her games also made her angry. It was totally his fault. Not hers. No. That couldn't be it.

Layne went in search for another drink to steal off a tray or out of a hand.
