Resting Heartbeats (D3, LE Syl's Room)

Kristal offered a half inspired chuckle on that. Looking down to her meal as she mostly just continued to eat.

[Sylvain Torsin]

Sylvain's slight smile remained on his lips as his brain worked through the problem in front of him. She was obviously uncomfortable. Obviously not 'enjoying dinner' as she had requested. He knew the reasons why... but there was no solution that worked. Doing things would only make it worse, Kris had to be prodded at times to get her to come out with Sylvain and Shaisha in the past, but this was an entirely different type of problem.

The wall of Kristal's discomfort stood in between Sylvain and Kristal's heart... approaching the objective were pitfalls everywhere. A single misstep could easily bring about instant and irreversible disaster. Storming this fortress was far too risky, beladen with far too many obstacles to lead him to believe that he stood at successfully claiming it...

His mind stopped for a moment, It is not something that you claim. It is given to you... Remember your failure at the tent. Harness your emotions. Let her emerge from her shell when she is ready... She is not ready yet. Patience, peace, serenity.

He breathed in quietly through his nose and took another bite. Looking up he smiled, "I can put some music on if you'd like Kris. What're you in the mood for?"

Kristal looked up and saw his smile, it struck her in a way that added to the growing discomfort. Unthinking she reached out with her left hand to grab her glass, accidentally shattering it when the grip was a bit too strong on the outside. That was the instigating moment, that was what set her off finally. In a sudden surge of everything that built up she smashed her cybernetic fist down against the table in anger. Nearly toppling the damn thing if it weren't for it's sturdy Imperial make but the force was evident in the dent her fist had left behind. Glasses shook and some toppled as food shifted from it's place of rest. In a cold anger she sat there in the few seconds after, draining the room of all sound despite the busy Nar Shaddaa traffic easily heard all throughout the city.

Reaching up with her right she tried to calm herself down by brushing her hair back but it wasn't enough. Pushing herself to her feet Kristal stood and started moving towards the door, toward the refresher.

"I require a moment," was all she said on her way out. Luckily, Imperial standardized construction meant that there was no need for the question of where the bathroom was. All she had to do was leave.

Sylvain moved his chair back a few inches as Kristal pounded her fist into the table and looked up at her with concern and slight surprise. He watched her storm off to the bathroom with a nod as he stood to begin cleaning up a bit of the mess she had made.

Could have been worse... that could have been your face. Shes trying... gotta remember that she's trying.

Sylvain put things in order once again and found a place to sit on the couch while he waited for her to return from her reverie. His hands held up his head from both sides as it faced downward. His fingers brushed nervously through his hair as he pondered what he could possibly do to make this any better.

There was a clear exhaustion about her when she re-entered the room. Standing in the doorway she looked over to Syl and spoke in a softer, more muted, voice, "Sylvain, I should depart."

[Sylvain Torsin]

"If you feel you must..." Sylvain said as he looked up at her.

"Though I wouldn't mind an explanation if you had one."

[Kristal Serasai]

"Nothing I could give you now," she offered as much of an explanation as she could manage.

"I am sorry," she said, turning about to leave through the door.

[Sylvain Torsin]

"It's no problem Kris. I'm sorry... I know you're trying." He said as she walked past him to the door.

"Let me know when you wanna meet again. I seem to have pushed it a bit too far. If I don't see you before Baras thing goes down and it goes poorly... I wish you well."

[Kristal Serasai]

"We will see each other again," she promised, albeit her voice was tired and drained. Holding onto the doors frame as she looked back to him a last time and then slipped just outside into the hall. Off to collect some money, and then take a well earned rest.

[Sylvain Torsin]

"Good night Kris." He said as she walked out the door.

Returning to the table Sylvain closed his eyes and began breathing slowly. He put his hand over the indent in his table that Kristal had punched and brushed aside the tiny pieces of the vase that had been nearly vaporized by her fist. He picked up the little flower in his hand and stared at it for several moments. The white and blondish yellow seemed to scream of Kristal. He dropped the flower on the table and pulled his lightsaber from the table.

He ignited it in one swift motion and cut the damaged table in half on his balcony. The contents of the meal fell to the ground as he stood over the table with purple flame in his hand.

"Damn it... Damn me." He kicked the broken table once and turned inside the apartment filled with memories of his failure on Yavin and terrible regret.
