Extending the Olive... Martini (D3, ME Expecting)

[Sylvain Torsin]

He nodded, "Do you have anybody close to you then? Or are you truly free of 'attachments' like Jedi are 'supposed' to be?"

[Yslane Tssilla]

"Are you asking me if I have a significant other?" Yslane asks in a deadpan tone. She holds a scowl a second before continuing with a teasing laugh. "No attachments is more about keeping ones emotions in check then anything else. Only the most ascetic of the Jedi truly eschew all attachment."

She takes a sip then continues, "We aren't the emotionless machines driven by a sense of duty some believe.... But to answer your question, I have a few friends and people I admire. But no one I love in the romantic sense."

[Sylvain Torsin]

He shook his head and smiled, "That was not my intent. While any normal man would be foolish not to have an interest in whether or not you are spoken for, I personally am spoken for... and do not wish to suggest that is the reason I was asking."

He paused before continuing, "I've just rarely met Jedi in my own experience. I was interested how a living breathing person with a good head on her shoulders would deal with being both human and Jedi. Your description of your ties with your family made me wonder if it was related to your training, or just the circumstance of your upbringing. And you explained that answer well."

[Yslane Tssilla]

"I did mention I was a Padawan right?" She tilted her head, "A Jedi in training. I'm​ not sure I properly represent the Order."

"And there have been Jedi who have lovers. Master Shan is the child of Jedi Knight and descended from the heroine Bastilla Shan."

[Sylvain Torsin]

"Whether we be in training or fully accepted into our orders, whether we like it or not, I feel we do always represent who they are... and we of course always represent who we are. So do you intend on following that tradition?" He asked. "Or is that not the path you see for yourself?"

[Yslane Tssilla]

"I think it would be a bit too early to turn from my current path." Yslane straightened her head back up. "For now I intend to continue on to Knighthood."

"Are you beginning to doubt your own path?" She raised a brow, keeping her voice curious...instead of proselytizing.

[Sylvain Torsin]

He shook his head, "No, I am comfortable where I am. My first great love is the Empire. I was referring to the path you were mentioning with the Shan family. Having children and what not..."

[Yslane Tssilla]

"Oh...." Her cheeks flush red, "I'm only eighteen...." She calms herself, "No I'm not thinking about any of that for the time." Yslane chided herself, having been more or less unflappable for most of the conversation.

[Sylvain Torsin]

He smiled as she flushed, "Well it looks like that isn't a solid 'no' at this point."

He then took a sip of his drink, "But I don't mean to embarrass you Lady Tssilla. Just a passing question. I've always wanted a family and children, the Jedi refraining from that always seemed so different than who I am. Nice to know there's some blood to fill those cheeks for young members of the Jedi order as well."

He then leaned back in his chair, "I suppose the bond between a master and their padawan fills the 'family' needs that the Jedi hold in many cases. I can't really imagine Thy as being all that maternal, but she seems like she'd be an excellent older sister."

[Yslane Tssilla]

"I only recently came under her tutelage." Yslane, still a little off balanced, admitted, "She is....unique as a teacher."

"So...I take it you are planning on continuing your family name then....with this person you mentioned in passing earlier? Well when you said you were spoken for I mean."

[Sylvain Torsin]

"That is my hope, yes. But as with anything... one must survive and create the necessary time and means for such a thing to take place. Relationships between masters and apprentices don't often bring about the same level of duty and loyalty that a family does. Finding one that they can trust and work together with for greater gain can be difficult... I believe I've found the proper partner; now it's a matter of making it happen." He smiled.

[Yslane Tssilla]

"I see," Yslane smiled, her cheeks returning to the normal shade, "Sith family man....are you sure you are part of the same Sith whom I have studied?"

"But perhaps I understand your motives better. You need peace and stability to begin your family?"

[Sylvain Torsin]

He chuckled, "No, my dear. That would be an incorrect assumption. I was raised in the house of the top military official in the Empire during the past 15 years... I'm actually probably more acquainted with family life during the war than I am in peace."

He smiled, "I am for peace because I feel it serves the Empire's best interests. And I think that the Republic thinks it serves there's. I'm willing to test that out and see who is correct."

[Yslane Tssilla]

"It could in both our people's interest." Yslane presented the obvious third option, "...eventually."

[Sylvain Torsin]

"So you are of the opinion that there can be peaceful coexistence?" He asked.

[Yslane Tssilla]

"As things are now? No," She clarifies, "The philosophical differences are too great to bridge at this time. But peace could change that. Part of the reason for our differences is a complete lack of dialogue between the Order and the Sith. With a period of us being aware of each other and not killing each other...who knows?"

"Any period of peaceful coexistence is going to produce something....forgive me if I disregard my inner cynic to hope its a net positive." Yslane smiles cheekily.

[Sylvain Torsin]

He smiled and nodded, "It is a noble sentiment. Even if we need to silence our inner cynicism to get there."

[Yslane Tssilla]

"Speaking of cynicism," Yslane took another sip of wine, "I assume there is no point in me continuing to conceal my lightsaber anymore." She leans back a little and smiles.

[Sylvain Torsin]

He chuckled, "Certainly not from me."

[Yslane Tssilla]

"I was more worried about your comrades and master," She clarified, "But it was bound to happen."

[Sylvain Torsin]

"If you do not wish for them to know, then I will not inform them. I see no need to reveal you at this juncture..." He replied with shake of his head.

[Yslane Tssilla]

"You know I can't trust your word on that," Yslane responds apologetically, "You seem to want to do what is best for your nation, I fail to see how letting a Jedi run around in relative secret aids that cause. Besides which....clearly my ability to hide my powers is insufficient for the deception."

[Sylvain Torsin]

"Which is part of the reason why I see no need. If you were more of a threat, or it was difficult to ascertain... then such information may be of use. For now, it bears no weight on my side of the line, and on your side it would only do you damage. I hope I have made it obvious that I do not thing damaging you is in my best interests..."

[Yslane Tssilla]

Yslane smiles, "As you say..." She leans back, "But it does my side no harm losing it as well. And I suppose in a way it is liberating to lose the mask."

[Sylvain Torsin]

He chuckled, "It can be. But also it can be liberating to have it on. Keep unwanted attention away."
