I know, right? I have a max of 3 dice on anything. SO many folks rocking 4s.

Gets way easier when you have two, and you can fight off one of them.

So I'd have gone onto stage in a barebones cosplay, that was really just him dressing as himself.

That is definitely what I see; There are enough multiple options for most rolls that you can make a 4 trait work for at least a third of the rolls even if it's only one of six attributes. And two 4's over half at minimum. Especially if neither of those two are Willpower.

Yeah I really thought about goign with three 3's when making Zane. But ended up buying a four, from what i was told it was worthwhile, and it's worked out.

I would of felt terrible if I actually did well though, so I opted out.

Not sure I would recommend that.

And with all the skills at 1, it's felt like having an L5R character that rolls 4k3 on everything... IE, quite subpar in the end.

My thoughts as well!

And my two talent trees aren't helping much either. Not seeing many setback dice to negate very often.

But again, I'm having a blast with my character. Just learning a new system and all leaves for some harsh lessons at times.

Fortunately not all fun is about rolling in this game. I am in the 'more 3s, no 4s' basket and I feel your pain, but the wonderful GMs offer some personal plots usually better calibrated with you abilities and sheet selections. The competitive 'who rolls higher gets the prize' events are hopefully in minority, since they unleash exactly these emotions and frankly don't have much appeal for me any more. Last game 'cool kids' aka True Sith and Nobles had free Boost for each event, aliens and riff raff had Setbacks, but the underdogs still came around and had fun. Besides, it's not like cosplay is super relevant to the big picture, so failure here is no big deal, more fun than anything else?

I certainly agree with you Moyr. I'm having a blast with Adrianaa even if she is built "poorly".

Honestly though, I probably wouldn't change her even if I could. I like that she has a bit of an ability in everything except combat. It shows her arrogance/overconfidence at times. Plus, it means she doesn't HAVE to go to others for help if she doesnt want too. Sure, I probably won;t succeed often, but *shrug* failure is part of the storyline

Arsele's plan was to impress at Huttcon as, hopefully, a foot in the door to show business. A plot setback if nothing else!
