[D4 ME] Cooling Off

"Did you have a choice?" he asks curiously. "I had always been under the impression that the Jedi only took on children and refused to train those that were older. And that once they took people on you were required to follow their rules. Is that not the case?"

"My family had." Was her too blunt response. She blushed, as she caught herself. "After my training, options opened up." And closed down.

"So your family decided for you," he says with a nod. "I suppose I'm just fortunate in the fact that when a person is identified as force sensitive in the Empire it only opens up options. My family is more important to me than my gifts. The fact that I was sensitive to the force only meant that I would be able to pursue both my natural talents as a pilot and study at the academy."

He kept dancing. "I only wish that freedom for everyone. To pursue their own path their own way. That is the Sith way. Freedom. Certainly, it can be difficult and ambition of others can stand in your path. But that simply means you have an obstacle to overcome, learning and growing in the process."

"What if you decided not to become a Sith? To.. waste away your gifts, and just be a regular person?" Her voice was curious as she spoke. "My sensitivity opened up options to me as well, but I was too young to appreciate them."

Her dance moves were slightly improving now, she managed to avoid stepping on him. "Freedom to pursue whatever you want... it still feels like it will lead to chaos, to me."

"How is freedom to follow your heart and do as you want any more chaotic than daily life? That makes no sense. It's not like we're race swoops professionally 3 days, then spend a month playing an instrument in a band, then a week fighting for the military, only to go home and become a professional chef until our next whimsy hits us. We choose a path of our own, we follow it. If someday that path is not enough we may move on to another, but it's not every other day."

[Alysele Cortess]

"So, if I was expecting you to burst into song right now, I should be disappointed?" She smiled, though it was a bit unsure. "I must apologize if I'm not an entertaining conversationalist.. the more spiritual side of the Force is not my forte. I am better at stabbing, you see."

[Zeno Deathwright]

"I'm better at stabbing. And I'm talking less about the force, than I am about having the freedom to do what you wish," he say moving with the music alongside her. "It's true that I perform tasks for my master and complete missions for the Empire. But at the end of the day all of my choices are based on one thing: how can I increase my personal power so that I can act on behalf of those that have earned my trust and loyalty. And I challenge anyone or anything that stands in the way of that. The Jedi order tells you who to fight for and defend. I'd never restrict myself in that regard."

Alysele was silent, her mind racing with the implications, and her feelings.

She danced, the silence becoming awkward. "Power... can mean a lot of things." She smiled. "Though I can understand the need to protect others, and make their lives better. It is a noble goal, for certain."

[Zeno Deathwright]

"Power does mean a great many things," he says with a nod. "And we all seek it so that we can be free to follow our own morality. You should be seeking to follow your own, not letting someone else dictate your morality for you." He smiles pleasantly at her.

[Alysele Cortess]

"Power as morality.. hm." She seemed to be deep in thought. "And have you managed to acquire more power in Nar Shadda, Zeno?"

[Zeno Deathwright]

"Wouldn't you like to know," he says with a playful smile. "I may be friendly, but you are still a Jedi Alysele. Can't be giving away secrets like that."

[Alysele Cortess]

"Aw, and here I thought I was reaching across the aisle." She smiled. "It was worth a try though. Tell me at least you have tried the local cuisine."

[Zeno Deathwright]

"I have done that," he says with a nod. "And I'd be interested in trying some more with you."

[Alysele Cortess]

"Oh?" Her voice was curious. "Diplomacy over Hutt gourmet... I am not opposed." She offered for now.

[Zeno Deathwright]

With the latest song coming to an end he bowed to Alysele and put out an arm to escort her back to the table. "Well, it's always nice to spend time with lovely company."

"Same here." She gave a small bow to him. "Meet you for dinner some time then?"

"I think that would be pleasant," he confirms with a nod.
