"I have faced a Jedi master before. He neither managed to defeat me nor prevent me from accomplishing my objective."

[Arali Zian]

"Interesting," Arali doesn't seem terribly surprised, nor does she seem as if her mind is changed. "Who was it?"

[Layne Hoshin]

She chuckled dismissively, as if disappointed that Arali even had to ask. "Nomen Karr."

[Arali Zian]

"Interesting." Arali starts packing up the various components for her light saber. "I somehow suspect this story has been embellished, but perhaps you could be useful."

[Layne Hoshin]

"Kind of presumptions, thinking I'd be interested in being useful to you," she said. "And if you think I embellished, perhaps you should ask Karr himself."

[Arali Zian]

"You've said yourself you are interested," Arali points out. "In my purchases. If you're as good as you say, I could use a sparring partner at your level to see if this madness has merit. Though I would have to insist you use a training emitter."

[Layne Hoshin]

"That's a big insist."

[Arali Zian]

"I can provide the emitter," the twi'lek volunteers. "But if you don't like it, then say no and accept the possibility that the first you see of this weapon might against you on less amicable terms."

[Layne Hoshin]

"You wish to fight while you use your new lightsaber, and I use a training saber? Do you think I'm stupid?"

[Arali Zian]

"I said emitter. Not saber. As for my end?" Arali reaches into her bag and pulls the tiny kyber crystal back out. "That's what this is for. I disagree with your take on killing intent. If the goal is to defeat your enemy, then defeat your enemy. With this crystal, I can refocus my blade to strike with a resonant energy field, to batter muscles and joints, possibly even through a parry. Technically less deadly than the shock of a training emitter. But the question is of the shift in kata for such a weapon, and just how effective it really is."

"It is half of what I want tested. Though, if you insist, I am capable of swapping that array out for a training emitter as well, to test out kata for the drive array."

[Layne Hoshin]

"I'm not swapping out a thing in my saber. If you want a sparring match with training sabers," she said, stubbornly, "that I might accomodate."

[Arali Zian]

"I'd have to swap the emitter into my new lightsaber," Arali points out, "Or I'm not testing anything."

[Layne Hoshin]

"Which is your problem, not mine. A sith can not even trust other sith to spar fairly. Sparring with a jedi would be even more foolish with such a handicap."

[Arali Zian]

"A shame," she shrugs, sipping at what little remains of her caf and dropping the subject.

"You spar with live sabers?"

[Layne Hoshin]

"No, but a training saber can still knock someone out. And I don't trust anyone to not take advantage of that."

[Arali Zian]

"Generally, that's what this is for," she reaches to her belt and pulls off a long box that, when placed on the table, opens up and presents a variety of basic medical supplies, then just as quickly she collapses it back down and returns it to her belt.

"Though, that does become the more interesting point. If you don't trust me with a training saber, then we get into the issue of bringing seconds or negotiating an arbiter, which is rather more of an ordeal than it's worth to either of us."

[Layne Hoshin]

She shrugged. "You're the one who brought it up out of the blue. All I did was notice the parts."
