Since I have been called out... a big problem for me with incorporating the Pubs into the ongoing stories I am in is that they are in the opposing camp. I have been very happy to reach out and incorporate new characters into ongoing plots/ties since Day 1 and I have managed to various extents with about four or five, but they are all Empire or neutral. With how battle lines are drawn, the Republic has been bound to have to self-organise their own plot base. Blues are comparable in numbers to the reds player-wise. I stepped out of two juicy plots (pirate queen, project evolution) because I didn't want to clash with the Pubs over hijacking their plot opportunities. I am happy to have threads with the blues, but they won't have a friendly and cooperative vibe unless someone wants a story of a path to the Dark Side. There are in-setting divides that are hard for me with this particular character to just handwave. As a community, we have to accept that in this setting the Empire and the Republic are not buddies except for some rare, contingent circumstances, and find good time within these ramifications.I believe that with GM help it can be done.

For my part... beyond the first few pokes I largely feel Yslane's story has been more reaction to events and people around her. Imperial Entanglements as Obi-wan calls it.

If it follows usual narrative structures she'll probably die to motivate some bit of heroism on the part of others.

No one's being called out. Those of us who are struggling to find a foothold share the responsibility, this isn't a blame game.

I am happy to have threads with the blues, but they won't have a friendly and cooperative vibe unless someone wants a story of a path to the Dark Side. There are in-setting divides that are hard for me with this particular character to just handwave. As a community, we have to accept that in this setting the Empire and the Republic are not buddies except for some rare, contingent circumstances, and find good time within these ramifications.

Is this an IC or an OOC thing? Because it really sounds like you aren't separating the two. Cole -for example - believes that, deep down, people are the same, until their parents and governments fuck them right up; and on D6 actually managed to reach a tentative understanding with a Sith on that point. I mean, insofar as the peace talks are a backdrop... it is kinda why most of us are here: to buck those exact in-setting divides.

I've been enjoying the mixed Huttball team threads because it's an opportunity to hang out with Republic characters in a believable setting. Huttcon is similar and I'm sad I missed it on D5. I seem to get a lot of mileage out of making my own scenes and attempts at plot. If anyone wants to do stuff with Jo'ren let me know and we'll figure out a way to make it work

I do tend to use up all of my time slots though, so let me know in advance and I'll try to keep something free for you.

Hmm, do I tempt fate and join now despite having a fight planned in EE? Cole has medical training doesn't he? I might need his help getting patched up before the game...

It is purely IC. Moyr has a background (childhood trauma, morality, current obligations) that makes her very antagonistic toward the Republic. It was almost a non-factor last game, it didn't come up this much but it does limit my options this game. She's been boycotting the peace talks and setting alternative plans in motion. I would find it much easier to deal with the Jedi Order because they have the capacity to change sides and hold onto some morality, and to debate the nature of the Force would actually be nice. But so far I haven't found a Jedi willing to take a peek into the libertarian, anarchistic darkness, at least not with me.

Which is very fun to watch! At a point when I had doubts about continuing with Moyr I was thinking about rolling in with a Zabrak Niman who would be a decent Jedi dude except for his anger management issues, with joining the pack of the funny Jedi in mind.

Which is very fun to watch! At a point when I had doubts about continuing with Moyr I was thinking about rolling in with a Zabrak Niman who would be a decent Jedi dude except for his anger management issues, with joining the pack of the funny Jedi in mind.

My greatest regret was not rolling a more traditional Jedi of the Peacekeeper type. Especially given how short lived and limiting the bureaucrat thing ended up being. But I play a lot of tactician types and Obi-wan is my favorite Jedi....and he is generally thought to be a Peacekeeper. I totally would have been all about debating Jedi egalitarianism and stoicism with you at that point.

Then again Yslane has been fun and I think a more traditional Jedi would have been harder for people to approach.
