[Day 0 - LA] Peaceful Retreat

[Satele Shan]

Peace was a multifaceted word, there was peace between neighbors, an end to quarreling and violence. There was peace in stillness, all disturbances absent, and there was peace in beauty; an enjoyment of the beauty that exists in the world. Satele closed her eyes in the gardens, it was beautiful but she could feel the toil of the slaves, the lies behind the walls, and the violence that built this ship. The Hutts were dangerous, they were gangsters but for all their faults they wanted a semblance of peace.

She would have to remind herself that she would have to keep her mind open, a closed mind is ill suited to change with the flowing movements of the universe. She felt some guilt enjoying this moment of peace when others toiled and died in the Outer Rim but she trusted the Force that it would guide her to a solution that would find peace for all involved.

If not today then perhaps tomorrow.

[Yslane Tssilla]

The Jedi Master was joined in the gardens by another. A fact she doubtlessly felt coming.

Yslane was visibly uneasy as she moved through gardens. Seeing the Jedi, she approached quickly. "Pardon me Master Shan." She smiled nervously, "I hope I am not disturbing your meditation. I am Yslane Tssilla, from the Foreign Office... I well, we met on the trip...but I am sure there were other more austere delegates... really I shouldn't be taking your time Master Jedi...." She pauses. "Might I confess this trip is worrying to me?"

[Satele Shan]

“I am not going to bite, and I do recall you. If you have a concern, I’ll listen,” she says warmly with a nod.

[Yslane Tssilla]

She speaks with a bit more confidence, "Well... can we trust the Sith? Given their views? I mean are they not going to use this to prepare for another attack? Or maybe attack the delegation..." Yslane pause, the nervousness returning, "You are the expert of course Master Jedi."

[Satele Shan]

“I trust the Sith to be Sith, that probably is not helpful but it is the one truth I can say about them. I am sure they see this as a chance to try and scheme if they seek peace,” she says honestly.

“What I do know is that peace will benefit the people, it will help the Imperial people and when they see the benefits of peace it may be harder for the Sith to rouse their people to war.”

“The future is uncertain but if they seek to attack the delegation I have brought several Jedi and we have many talented soldiers, it would not be an easy feat,” she says calmly.

“Have you met a Sith before?” she asks.

[Yslane Tssilla]

"Not as such Master Jedi." Yslane sighs heavily, "This is something of a first assignment for me."

"I see but my understanding is the Sith dominate there people. That they obey when their Masters' command." She rubs her wrist, "Will peace really benefit them enough to oppose the Sith?"

"Given the reports peace would benefit our people...still I worry we might trade short term salvation for long term damnation."

Yslane smiles, "Well the prowess of the Jedi is legendary. I feel safer knowing the Order is here." There is a tone of amusement, probably a repressed inner little girl eager to meet her heroes. "And the Army as well."

[Satele Shan]

“I asked the same thing of my own Master,” she says calmly.

“He said that if you must resort to violence and anger to keep your lessers in line then you are truly the lesser one. I admit I didn’t really understand that at the time. Sounded like the kind of thing a Master is supposed to say to confuse and awe the mind of a young padawan.”

[Yslane Tssilla]

"I... understand... I think... but if the oppressed still feel too weak, will not even lesser men be able to control them?" Yslane counters, a little more confidence slipping in... diminishing unease. "Have you had cause to speak to a Sith? I mean with out having to fight shortly after."

[Satele Shan]

“Not as often as I would like. Not all Sith seek to kill without any regard, there are some that can be amicable. I find those are the ones that you have to watch out for,” she says with a nod.

“But yes I have spoken to Sith.”

[Yslane Tssilla]

"Master Shan are you saying to be more afraid of the Sith peacemakers the the warmakers?" Yslane stifles a chuckle, blanches the says softly and more seriously. "That was inappropriate of me Master...Shan." She takes a breath. "Of course you mean the manipulators with enough foresight to hide their intentions behind pretty smiles and gentle words. The ah..tempters trying to turn Jedi?"

[Satele Shan]

“Some are rather talented even charming. I crossed paths with a Sith named Lord Baras… now Darth Baras. He was evil but also charming, quick to talk. He even makes sense, but he is a skilled and talented liar,” she says thoughtfully.

[Yslane Tssilla]

"I believe the Foreign Office had a file on him. But he is not the lead Sith here...." She instinctively​ reaches for her datapad...the remembers it was I'm her cabin. "Ahh..."

"Any advice meeting​ the Sith." Her tone turns back to serious...and her expression shows a quieter calm at odds with her slumped nervous posture. "Should I be worried?"

[Satele Shan]

"The one in charge or in general?" she asks taking a more relaxed position leaning back resting on her elbows.

[Yslane Tssilla]

"Both." She sighs, back to the put upon look she had earlier, "I'd imagine the head Sith has better things to do then harass a petty bureaucrat. His underlings...umm not so much?"

[Satele Shan]

“You would be surprised but I suspect that may be true. The Sith have as much to gain and lose as we do, I suspect they will do what they can to keep each other in line. It may be a unique opportunity to engage the Sith and Empire without blasters, I would take it,” she says honestly.

[Yslane Tssilla]

"I suppose." She sighs, "There is also the venue...Nar Shadda has a... unique reputation. I understand why it is important but seems an odd place to broker peace."

[Satele Shan]

"Neither side has control here, it seemed the best choice," she says with a shrug.

"Not my first choice, but you work with what you are given."

[Yslane Tssilla]

"Even when that is umm..." She glances around and speaks very softly, "Slavers, criminals, and miscreants? I mean does any legitimate business occur on Nar Shadda?"

[Satele Shan]

“Even more reason for us to come to the Smuggler’s Moon, great and small acts of compassion make the galaxy better. If we can be the example we can be the seeds for change, it may not come tomorrow but in time it could grow,” she says warmly.

“It is a dark place, but better here than Drommund Kaas.”

[Yslane Tssilla]

"I'll try to remember that, Master Shan." Yslane dipped her head in a small bow, "I believe one of the Order is on Nar Shadda already? The dossier mentioned them."

[Satele Shan]

"Several in fact," she corrects.

"We don't limit our missions to just Republic space, there is a lot of good to be done out here."

[Yslane Tssilla]

"Stars in the night?" She adds in turn. "I have little experience past the government center on Courscant. I am not sure what the Foreign Office is thinking but I hope to do well. To not embarrass the Republic at any rate."

[Satele Shan]

“I can’t comment on government decisions, I just trust they are doing what needs to be done to paid and protect the people,” she says.

“If you work towards that, even if you embarrass yourself you are doing the right thing.”

[Yslane Tssilla]

"What about Jedi decisions?" Yslane asks, "The Senate's feelings are clear....the Military's as well....but the Order's seems clouded. Shouldn't the Jedi be providing an example for the rest of the Republic in this? One way or the other?"

[Satele Shan]

"I admire that sentiment but Jedi are not infallible and even we become lost, we are in such a time but soon the darkness will part and day will break and we shall find a united path once more. In the absence of that I trust in the Force," she says with a nod.

"The Jedi have faltered but they have always rise to the occasion to do what must be done."
