The loudest distraction (D8 ME)

[Aphr Ahaya]

Aphr really did not want to go back and face anyone. She wanted something to take her focuses away, and where else but the Shadows would do such a thing?

So she sat at a table she sat at before. With a red wine in hand, she watched the dancing and laughing. Slightly enviously.

They have it so easy...

[Sylvain Torsin]

Sylvain entered the club and scanned the establishment as the music and smells of the joint flowed over his senses. It appeared as if he was looking for someone. He made a couple of rounds before finding a relatively quiet spot to view the floor a bit more passively. He looked and saw the face of the young Twi'lek he had seen at the Jedi's luncheon. Nodding a greeting he walked over and opened a hand towards the empty seat at her table.

"I believe I've seen you before at that engagement the Jedi put on... May I join you?"

[Aphr Ahaya]

As the man moved in her direction, Aphr focused on him and smiled as he spoke. "Aha, I knew you looked familiar! Yes, that was me" she rose and offered a hand to shake "Aphr is my name. Please, feel free to join me. While it may look like I was hiding...well, I kind of was" she laughed "but this place is good for being the loudest area of privacy on the planet."

[Sylvain Torsin]

He smiled and shook her hand, "It's a pleasure Aphr. I'm Sylvain Torsin of the Sith Empire."

He took a seat, "Hiding in plain sight is a tried and true method. I was here looking for someone, but found someone else it seems I have."

He smiled, "So I take it you are a force sensitive since I saw you at that gathering?"

[Aphr Ahaya]

"It's good to put name to face, and you come highly spoke of too" Aphr said with a smile as she sat down "one of my friends speaks well of you. Yes, I'm a force sensitive. It's...been a bit of a learning experience, these past days. I haven't known for all that long, and a Jedi drugging wasn't an ideal experience. You seemed to take it quite well though?"

She paused.

"Would you like a drink of something?"

[Sylvain Torsin]

He nodded his head, "Sure, I have time for a drink."

He then looked out on the floor, "And which one of your friends speaks highly of me?"

[Aphr Ahaya]

"Anything specific you like? Honestly I just picked the first wine on the list...I don't really drink much, or often, and it wasn't an amazing choice" she chuckled, a little embarrassed "and one Shaisha Vreysk seemed to think well of you. I have a high opinion of Shaisha, I've known her for a while."

[Sylvain Torsin]

"I'll be more than happy to share in your misery then. It's much better when someone can complain about the alcohol with someone else." He smiled warmly.

"Shaisha is a friend of yours? I fear not all the tales she may tell of me are flattering then. Sisters have a way of being both helpful and detrimental at the same time. Painfully truthful when they needn't be... " He chuckled.

"How long have you known her? I'm assuming just the past week or so?"

[Aphr Ahaya]

"You'll be glad to hear that she said nothing bad about you whatsoever" Aphr said with a nod as she got the attention of someone to bring another of these cheap red wines over - a locally brewed drink of some sort "I've known her about nine months or so, the crew I work for on the Starcross have worked with her for around that long and as I'm the voice of the crew I've spent more time with her than others have. I haven't had many chances to talk with her recently, but you are all busy with these so-called 'peace talks' I guess."

[Sylvain Torsin]

He chuckled, "You sound thrilled about the nature of these talks."

[Aphr Ahaya]

"There hasn't been much that's felt peaceful about them" Aphr said with a small frown "it's hard to bring more violence, to Nar Shaddaa, it's quite a bloody place. Yet these talks have somehow managed it."

[Sylvain Torsin]

He chuckled, "There's no need to tell me about it... a friend of mine lost a leg from a Jedi attack two days ago."

He scoffed, "So much for the serenity of the Jedi."

[Aphr Ahaya]

Normally her first reply would be to point out the drugging incident. However, she remembered something from before as well as her grandmothers words.

"Some of the Jedi now have lost their way it seems" Aphr nodded "I hope your friend will be ok? What happened?"

[Sylvain Torsin]

"We were called upon by a friend of mine to help get a different friend out of trouble with Fa'atrha. The Jedi ambushed my comrade and I and kidnapped the man we had saved."

He smiled slightly, "My comrade is the tough sort. She'll be alright."

[Aphr Ahaya]

"I suppose you would have to be tough to be ok with losing a leg" Aphr mused with a nod "I've not heard of violence like that from the Jedi. They preach peace usually....perhaps it is just the current breed that are becoming this way. I can't imagine many would have tolerated them being like this for all time..right?"

[Sylvain Torsin]

"The hypocrisy of the Jedi is long-lasting. The last war with the Republic led to the Jedi attempting to exterminate the Sith race. The peace they speak of is one of subjugation of their enemies." He replied.

[Aphr Ahaya]

"It's almost unbelievable to think that it's actually simpler just being here" Aphr said with a small sigh "however, I can deal with Hutts. I understand the Hutts well enough. This Force....no, not even the Force. The Jedi and the Sith, it's a headache to follow and understand."

[Sylvain Torsin]

He nodded, "I must admit I find it vexing as well. Dogmatic approaches to the Force tend only to create more problems than solve them... I personally take a more utilitarian view."

[Aphr Ahaya]

"If it's no intrusion, may I ask what your approach is? I'm still very much a novice in all this, and everyone seems to have a different view" she asked, curious

[Sylvain Torsin]

He chuckled, "I'm a bit of an oddity but I see the Force largely as a tool. Both aspects have power to accomplish almost anything. But what is often overlooked is the importance of the means by which one accomplishes their goals. There are times when a problem could be solved with aggression or passiveness; and many take that as justification to do things according to what their dogmatic teachings instruct without thinking about the future implications of their actions. There are times when peace and understanding would be best... and there are times when killing off the problem would be better. Having knowledge of both light and dark can help one to make the proper decision at the proper time. Adhering to one doctrine or the other blindly has only ever created narrow minds and has caused endless and pointless conflict."
