Crime and Politics - Day 0 (Aboard the Night Saber)

[Adrianaa Morindel]

Adrianaa hummed to herself as she lifted a grate from the floor and slid it back into place along a section of wall in her ship.

"That outta do it.."

She sighs and wipes her hands clean and looks down to a watch on her wrist.

"Another few hours. I wonder if this summit will actually do any good."

She sighs and closes her eyes, leaning against the bulk head wall, taking a few moments to relax.

[Ashla Vyliis]

Ashla walks in the room. "Oh. Hey..... I guess this is a formal thing. What should I call you?"

[Adrianaa Morindel]

Adrianaa opens her eyes and looks to the woman.

"Formal? My dear, on this ship, you are family. You may call me whatever you like."

She motions vaguely to the outside

"Out there? Senator Morindel is fine."

She taps her foot against the grate behind her.

"Are you certain you have no opposition to being part of selling this? You aren't required you know."

[Ashla Vyliis]

Ashla grimices at the family remark. My father is the only family I have or need. But she swallows it. No need to piss off a Senator. Especially, one who isn't an uptight asshole. She may need her some day. "I sold some when I was slave to Kidaja." Ashla gives a small laugh. "I don't know how much you know about me, but I'm not some prim and proper Jedi. I'm.... I'm flexible."

[Adrianaa Morindel]

Adrianaa shrugs.

"I know that you are here. I know you have skills I need. I know you will help the Republic goals. That's all that matters. I could'nt give a damn that you are a Jedi. Personally, I find the Jedi just as bad as the Sith."

She frowns and looks down for a moment before looking back up.

"No offense."

[Ashla Vyliis]

"Oh no. The Jedi are all assholes." Ashla shrugs. "I mean everyone is. But the Jedi particularly so."

[Adrianaa Morindel]

Adrianaa raises an eyebrow and motion towards the saber on Ashla's hip.

"So, doesn't that by extension make you one?"

She looks at the alien questioningly.

[Ashla Vyliis]

"Yep."

Ashla shrugs. "I believe in honesty. I see no reason to pretend to be something I am not. But it doesn't matter if I'm an asshole. Just that we get this peace treaty signed."

[Adrianaa Morindel]

"Isn't that the truth."

Adrianaa lets out a long sigh.

"I just want the war to be over. I don't even care if the Sith and the Jedi keep at it. But the Empire and Republic need to stop the fighting. Too many innocent people are dying."

She taps the grate again with her foot.

"And if we can't get them to sign it, maybe the credits from this can convince some of the Hutts or Suns or..whoever...to start doing some real work against the Sith to force them to quit."

She cracks her neck

"The time to play nice is over if they won't listen to reason."

[Ashla Vyliis]

"I don't think we have enough credits to convince the Hutts it's best for them to turn on the Empire. We'd need to convince them that the Sith is a threat to their business interests."

[Adrianaa Morindel]

"Aye, though there are many who will gladly do some dirty work for what I might be able to pay them. Or the favors I can pull. A Hutt is surprisingly reasonable when you hold Senatorial sway to adjust trade laws."

Adrianaa smirks.

"I have a few ideas to help persuade people the Empire is bad for business. Tell me, have you given it much though? How would you beat the Sith?"

[Ashla Vyliis]

Ashla shrugs and tries to puzzle it out. "Not really. I think the Sith are probably a great threat to themselves more than anything. Can you imagine being one? Always expecting someone to stab you in the back. I mean, really, you should in the Republic too. But they encourage it. Sith Joe who would just be a content janitor worker in the Republic is encouraged murder his superiors for a promotion." Ashla shrugs again. "It just seems too unstable. Like it can last for a long time against a common enemy, but when there is no enemy to fight, there is only each other."

It suddenly hits Ashla. There is a reason for morality. To control the masses from not killing you. What a breakthrough.

"Peace is the greatest threat to them. Maybe that's why they say it is a lie. Because if they have peace, they will destroy each other."

[Adrianaa Morindel]

Adrianaa's smirk widens.

"You seem to have had a similar revelation as I. So, since we know this about the Sith, what would be the best way to use it against them in order to get the Peace we want?"

[Ashla Vyliis]

Is this some sort of test? She sounds kind of like Master Maaka when she's trying to teach me things. Is this a lesson? Ashla was a little hurt. You've betrayed me Senator Smuggler.

"They justify it with freedom. Convince them that peace is the best way to obtain it?"

[Adrianaa Morindel]

Adrianaa taps her chin for a few moments and lets out a long "Hmm"

"That could work. I'm not sure to be honest. There are a million approaches we could take."

"I was thinking we might be able to find the biggest and most well supported Sith and use the tendency you pointed out for violence towards each other to work with him. Hire someone to take out the rival Sith in return for peace."

She sighs.

"Or just blow them all up."

[Ashla Vyliis]

Ashla shrugs. "I don't particularly care, but I think my master wants me to find a peace where the Sith can be redeemed. Besides, considering how some of the Jedi have a problem with.... my flexibility, I'd rather not endorse slaughter of Force Users they don't like."

[Adrianaa Morindel]

Adrianaa turns both her palms upwards.

"And there are many that I represent who wish the same. Others who don't."

She places her hands back to her sides.

"The life of a Senator isn't easy. So many angles to think of. So many people to try to please."

"But you can never please them all. I just hope I can at least do something here."

Adrianaa motions toward the crew area.

"Are you hungry by chance?"

[Ashla Vyliis]

Ashla nods. "I could use a bite to eat."

[Adrianaa Morindel]

With a nod the Senator walks down the hall to the modest crew rest area and grabs something from cold storage. She begins to fiddle around with various cook ware while she speaks.

"So is there any business that brings you to Nar Shadda other than the peace summit? Anything I might be able to assist you with while we are on the moon?"

[Ashla Vyliis]

"Not particularly. I just wanted to get off Corsucant. I guess I wouldn't mind seeing Kidaja again. He's always a conniving bastard. Maybe play some Huttball."

[Adrianaa Morindel]

After a few minutes, Adrianaa presents Ashla with a decent looking meal, placing it on the table along with some water before getting her own.

"It isn't much, but I've always been fond of it."

She takes a seat herself and takes a sip from her glass.

"I think doing a Huttball match would be fun. Plus it would be great PR. People love when politicians do sports."

Adrianaa pulls out a datapad and looks over it for a moment.

"I have been asked to meet with the head of the Black Sun on Nar Shadda. Unrelated to the shipment we have with us. That should be interesting, and I'd like if you would come along. Then of course there is the shipment itself. We will need to find some buyers. I have a few ideas, but am open to any you might know as well."

[Ashla Vyliis]

"I could probably come along, though I can't represent the Jedi. Though for buyers, I really only know Kidaja. He's a rascal though. I got my ship from him and wound up in slavery. Read the contract."

Ashla takes a bite. "This is good."

[Adrianaa Morindel]

"We can't represent anything, officially. Any deals I do with criminals is strictly off the record. SIS level stuff. I like to have people with me in case something goes south. I'm great at talking. Not so much at blasting"

Adrianaa takes a bite as well.

"My father taught me how to cook. It was a passion of his. I personally never understood it, food is just food to me. But his lessons stuck I suppose."

[Ashla Vyliis]

"Fathers have strange tastes sometimes." Ashla pauses for a moment. "Is he still alive?"

[Adrianaa Morindel]

"Yes, him and my mother retired a few years back from their own political positions and run the Morindel household. We aren't the richest on Coruscant, but we have enough holdings and such that it keeps them busy."

Adrianaa thinks for a moment.

"And yours? Master Zyl didn't say a lot about your past"
